This is going to be a long week!

MAybe I could freeze myself....

Almost tempted to play through the 3 Bros and World... but must resist urge.

I've been playing through World and World 2. This week is going to suck.

B-b-but the star beneath the save file!! :lol
There's worse than that... I was disappointed when I finished all war room missions in Advance Wars DS with S-300 and nothing at all happened. Even the golden menu item in Advance Wars 2 would seem nice at this point :)

By the looks of it, I don't think the Nintendo World Store is having a launch event. Bummer :(

I refuse to believe that!

This is the perfect game for it. I mean its out on a Sunday. Its Mario. A game that thrives on local co-op. Its Mario.

Wow, the music in those commercials made me happy. Especially the little end level flagpole ditty at the end of each one. So fucking good

Good news:

Nintendo World Store IS hold an event.

Saturday | November 14th | 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm

That's right, a day EARLY. They usually do it the same day, but nope, they are doing it the day before.
I called them to verify. So don't bother quoting my tag

If I can get over my flu by Saturday, I will be there.

Yeah, I want the announcer to shut the fuck up so I can hear the song! So awesome.

Alright guys, I'm done with this thread until the game comes out. I'm having way too hard of a time resisting the spoilers! Thank god MW2 comes out tomorrow to pass the time!

They give any details on the event PXG other than time and date?

I didn't ask. All I asked was if they having an event what time. I expect the usual:

- Game (of course) with 10% discount coupon (they give that to you in the store, or automatically ring up like that)
- A bunch of free swag and goodies (shirts, hats, posters, plushies, pins, ect)
- Photo booth
- Something involving painting or autographs (Muramasa had caligraphy and Scibblenauts had devs signing posters)
- Food? (Scribblenauts had a giant Maxwell cake and starite cupcakes)

Sweet. I'll head over there after class.
Mario demands it!

I've heard they might not be able to get Yoshi's Island onto there because of some special chip it uses for the graphics. Which sucks, because I've never owned it myself :(

Look, we've had that silly speculation for ages -- there is no real reason to assume that Nintendo can't handle FX emulation just because the "emulation community" has had problems with special chip emulation. It's far more likely that they just haven't bothered to release it yet...

Why would you do that? said:
I don't know if I'd like the GBA Yoshi's Island while playing it, because, to me, it's a game that's better suited for the big screen anyway.

Of course it's a game that's meant for a TV but the gameplay is just as solid and once I started addictively cranking out those 100 pt level scores all over again I didn't even notice let alone care it was on a 'lil GBA screen. :D And until we finally get YI on VC, the GBA is where the game will look the best resolution wise.

Yeah, the GBA was the first chance I had to play it seriously, and it was great there. I don't think it really matters what size screen you play it on.

This weekend I played SMB 3 two player for the first time in many years with one of my best friends and was surprised at how fun it was even though it was just plain 'ol vanilla 2p alternating. It helps of course that SMB 3's map structure is much stricter than SMW (where you basicallly had to beg your sibling/friend to die in order to get ur turn instead of going back to a previous level to spam items) and that he's about as good of a player as me. We had some good laughs, especially after being eaten repeatedly on the first Boss Bass stage in world 3. :lol We got as far as the end of world 6 before calling it a night. It was late though and if we'd been playing in the afternoon we definitely would have tackled world 8.

amazed and dissapointed by the airship level.. judging by those ign vids.

one .. the freaking mole throwing wrench is back! :D two.. looks underwhelming.. considering bombs were flying everywhere in SMB3...

Oh watching the Nintendo Week show, and its confirmed at the end the launch party is on Sat at NWS and you can meet the two hosts. :lol

Rose tinted hardcore glasses. The only battlecraft areas in SMB 3 which had "bombs flying everywhere" were the tanks and watership level in world 8. It's only a 28 sec clip from the beginning of the stage but I thought the new airship looked good. It has rotating platforms, mecha koopas and moles, what more do you want? And that wrench which came at the player off screen on the last jump was pretty devious I might add. :D

OMG at the end of world boss fights.

Kamek modifies the arena like he used his magic in Yoshi's Island
.

:( God I better back off from the internet.

Yeah, the airship video is the last bit I'm going to watch, I ignored the rest of the clips in the IGN piece. I especially need to avoid info on the last battle and
world 9.
Got my game preordered today, so no more spoilage until this upcoming best Sunday afternoon ever.

I've been playing through Lost Levels, but I accidentally clicked Retry instead of Continue so all my painstaking progress through the last week has been lost. Game is hard as hell, and getting to world 6 is no easy task.

Maybe I'll look up where the warp zones are at, but the wait for NSMBW might be easier than facing those challenges again. :lol

Got this off ebay back in '08, nice collectible and it's been mighty useful on more than a few occasions as you might imagine. ;) It's going to get double duty once I start getting serious about unlocking A-D:

wow. the bittorrent crew work quickly! or did some store release this early?

Now now, don't jump on Blackbird just yet, there were a lot of streams for the game today for "some reason or other". He could have seen one of those.

I am still expecting a "hello friends"-esque post soon though. :lol

Also, fuck yea Nintendo World. Man I love living in NYC. :D

Well, there is an apparent picture of the disc art in the red case just three posts above yours, so at least some store probably must have. None of this defends him specifically of course, but early copies do happen.

We should organize a GAF Meet-up for the launch party.

Of course, I always say that and never want to show up so eh.

I'd consider going to a GAF meet-up for something like this.

I'm getting the game at Nintendo World regardless, so I don't see a reason why I wouldn't.

I love the ending quote,

Still sorting the men from the boys after 20 years, Mario and Luigi's new adventure is not important because it's the continuation of a franchise we know and love – rather, it's because New Super Mario Bros. Wii demonstrates one more time why Nintendo are masters of the all-ages gaming market, relevant and refreshing but at all times reverent and above all, incredible fun.

Argh, Saturday can't come soon enough.
