Not even close. They haven't even reached the "Remove Ads from the Front Page" goal yet.
I love these guys but that Kickstarter put me off a bit. They got a ton of money but not enough to follow through on all their talk. So really the site isn't going to change much. They were even mentioning how some people like the ads as if that's the main reason not to remove them. All they need to do is put out a Lookouts comic book and all is well. They put in some overtime, make a bit more content, keep the Kickstarter money, and the ads keep rolling along.
The whole operation came off a bit shady.
it's a bit of a trend

Its a little bit more than reference on a screen, when you know for a fact that photo was at layer 1 of a photoshop file and then layer 2 was sketched over the top.

But yeah, its not the worlds most heinous use of phototracing like some of the shit in comicbooks these days.
My artistic respect for Gabe has pretty much bottomed out. There was a time where the art in PA was great but now it feels like he cranks out six in an afternoon every two weeks and then goes golfing. Its a little bit more than reference on a screen, when you know for a fact that photo was at layer 1 of a photoshop file and then layer 2 was sketched over the top.

Its fun seeing that artists will, like some kind of criminal trying to hide the murder weapon, distort the photo's proportions just enough to be different with the quick transform tool before beginning to trace, and since Gabe's current art-style is "intentionally stylistically sloppy", you get a fairly different riff from the original image.
That doesn't make it any less fun to point it out hoping that enough artists will wake up in a cold sweat screaming "OH GOD, THEY KNOW" and swear off the practice forever, returning to good ol sphere sketchforms and poses of their own ingenuity.

I mean, at the very least, don't just trace the -very first- GIS result. Who is he, Tim Buckley?
It's kind of funny but do you actually have an issue with it?
Holy shit. Add lazy to greedy, pretentious and narcissistic.
At least thier vocabulary is growing.
You clearly don't like them so..... hum....why are you here exactly?
Do you mean in composition or what? What, they can't do comics about fatherhood? Christ, unlike Buckley I think Gabe's style is varied enough to pull it off.
His kid's gotten pretty big.
Sooo their latest strip borders dangerously close to an infamous Ctrl+Alt+Del comic...

Um, what? Those two strips have zero in common. Plus, one is actually touching while the other one is trying to be touching so hard that its laughable. Im sure you can tell which is which.
I love PA, but I just don't understand why videogame web comics need to venture into sappy, ham-handed territory. The last line made me cringe.

I love this comic. The internet is such a scary place as a parent. It's kind of like dropping your kid off at the mall for the first time.
He's talking about the body poses in the last panel, which probably reminded him of loss.jpg.
The Content sure isn't the same, though.

Now I remember why that line resonated so negatively in my head...it's from this freaking Purina dogchow commercial. :38 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7_exKwaPKI
Well you'll just have to live with their other thousand comic strips that don't deal with fatherhood
My issue with PA in its current state is when the comics touching on subject matter relevant to Jerry and Mike's life contain no humor. There is no punch line in this comic. They can write any strip they want, with any tone about any content, but PA was originally a humor strip. With the influence of Scott Kurtz and the maturity of their lives as husbands and fathers, Jerry and Mike are taking the PA strip in a divergent direction. I've accepted that Penny Arcade is no longer a comic strip but a company, and the strip is now the smallest part. I love that they find more to poke fun at than video games, but most of the recent strips have in my opinion lacked either a punchline or any attempt at humor. Too often, they're using the strip as a platform which was originally the new post's role.
I mean, some of that shit is, like, straight out of joe xbox's console warrior secret list of talking points circa 2007. Controllers losing connections? Are they still rocking an original 6-axis?Controllers that frequently lose their connections or lack removable batteries are not a thing. Frequent updates without even a pretense of feature additions arent a thing. I could pay them to update it for me, but the other option is that I could not do that, and thats the one Im gonna go with. Hamstrung online services in game, limited chat and invite options, and nonexistent party functions arent 2013, let alone the previous years. Outside of the prodigious and brilliant work of its wholly owned subsidiaries, the console never got any better. It never had anything approaching Xbox Live, but free. The Playstation Move didnt. Maybe now that were getting a successor, people can say true things about the existing system without hurting them fee-fees.
I don't know about the controllers, I've never had an issue with mine, but I'd agree with everything else. I mean in the PS4 reveal conference Sony almost admitted to their patching system being awful. Cross game chat is something that's been on the 360 since it launched in 2005 and the PS3 still can't do it (I understand there's a technical reason for it but that's not much of an excuse.)So I had heard they were kinda partial to xbox, but god-dam.

But this comic is the essence of "stay bad".This made me laugh. Everytime I think about installing LOL or Dota 2, comments like that comic and others cause me to back away
