He appears at the future locations, just not where you killed him.

he appears in other areas but he's forever gone from that spot.

He'll be back in other areas, just not that one

thanks to gamefaqs!

The Gamecube controller is probably my least favorite of all time, and because I dont' have hands the size of a 12 year old, or midget the PS2 controller felt more comfortable overall even though it took a bit longer to get fully adjusted to it than with the GC controller.

?

Maybe I'm off my rocker but between the GC and PS2 controllers, the one that comes off as being better fitted for a 12 yr old's or "midget's" hands is the DS2....God that controller cramps the hell outta big handed/thick handed people! It's like a vice or <insert torture device here>!

i hope RE5 has similar system from the first soldier of fortune game. Where you can shoot off bits of people . How cool would it ahve a not zombie hopping after you on one leg, and no arms.

QFT. Size and comfort is something the GC controller has over the PS2 one.

just picked it up. Played through it about an hour. Having never played it other than spending 5 minutes with the Gamecube version at a circuit city kiosk, my initial thoughts are:

-the combat is fairly cool. Being able to run around all over and sort of "plan" your attacks and have to deal with scrambling villagers is a cool evolution to the previous RE games.

-control is still clunky. Its hard after playing games like God of War where the control is so silky smooth. I know its meant to add "tension" but i'd still prefer smoother controls, with more flexibility (less clunky moving character, ability to strafe)

-Leon covers up like half the screen. That kind of annoys me for some reason. Its something i think i'll get use to though.

Man Seperate Ways looks really nice. Why can't the main game look this good too. :\

THANK YOU.

Seriously though, one of my co-workers who doesn't play much games finally beat the game last night, and he's like "I think the graphics are better when I'm playing with the chick."

:lol

:lol On more than one level? :D

If you mean what my co-worker thought, I'll ask him on Monday. I only played through it once in one quick sitting, but the graphics seemed on par with the GC version (as far as I can recall without actually putting the GC version in), and definetely better than the main PS2 game. Again, it's mainly (for me) the village that looks really shitty, and that's the first level in SW and it looks awesome.

I just bought it today. DAMNED CREEPY!!! I really haven't cared for any of the past RE games, but i heard too many great things not to try it. The scene in chapter 2 where you hole up in the house and fight off the hoards, that brought back so many great old horror memories. I am stuck right now after having my head cut off with a chainsaw several times.

I was actually joking about your friend and how he referred to Ada as "the chick", hence "in more than one way." :)

That was one of the best parts of the entire fucking game. Such awesome, intense gameplay.

About the Chainsaw Sisters:
I went all the way back up the ladder and towards where you are essentially cornered. The good part about this is that there's only one way for the villagers to get at you, and you're staring straight at 'em the entire time. So when the chainsaw people charge at you, unload shotgun shells and grenades on them. You can knife and use the handguns on the normal villagers.

I remember playing with bats with the knife equipped near the merchant when suddenly I missed badly and he goes down... opps It wasn't me

Yes, this is a good thing to do.

It's also fun to magnum them to death. =)

thanks to gamefaqs!

uh, i killed him in an underground tunnell. then went up, through the graveyard and past the El Gigante behind the gate, and he was gone at that new location.

what say you now!? he is dead! i want proof he's coming back!

Finally beat Pro to get the PRL. While it's pretty cool and fairly useful, it's pretty large, and the fact that I had to beat Professional to get it completely killed any practical use I'd get out of it, since I never plan on touching the PS2 version again >_>.

Yeah. I personally hate the gun though. -_-

How did you first timers like "Oven Man" :lol

Well, it didn't really spook me or anything. I just automatically shot him in the face. :P It gave me a WTF feeling, though. Stuff like the chainsaw ganado coming out of nowhere made me more jumpy. :P

The little dead girl from F.E.A.R. made my jumpy. I was chasing after Alice Wade in the office cubicle section and suddenly the little girl crawled out from underneath a desk. I went OMGWTF and shot her.

F.E.A.R. can be spooky sometimes :P Those cyborg stealth guys pretty creepy too but there only about 4 or 5 of them in the game.

I'm stupid, I didn't see that you were replying to his comment about jumpy, I thought you'd posted in the wrong thread or something :lol

I beat the game earlier today. After going through the entire normal campaign, I have to say my largest gripe with the PS2 version of the game was with the FMV cutscenes, because they ruined what could've been a very cool sequence -
the Krauser knife fight!
. Other than that minor grievance, the game was pure entertainment. I spent something like twelves hours last night going through the game, then woke up this morning to finish it off. I haven't done that with any title for a long, long time. Right after I beat it I fired up some mercs (which I'm terrible at - 2 stars is my highest score on the first stage) and went through 4/5 of Separate Ways. I'm eager to get into Assignment Ada, and then go through a Pro run of Leon's campaign.

One question: what happened to
Salazar's bad-ass guardians? There were at least two, and I only ran into one that I didn't even kill (can they be killed?). That thing was DEADLY, easily the single most intimidating creature in the game. I know the ice really bugs 'em, but after many deaths I decided I was better off running away than making the effort to kill him, thinking I'd get a stab at it later
.

Anyway, GOTY. GOTY. GOTY.

You can kill Salazar's Right Hand if you do enough damage to it while it's frozen, and you get a treasure item in the process. A pussy way to beat him is to freeze him and one shot him with the Rocket Launcher. It's more fun, and cheaper, to use the Broken Butterfly and sell the Rocket Launcher for $15,000.

Salazar's Left Hand merged with that plant thing along with Salazar.

What happened? Were there no QTEs during that scene or something?

Everytime after a QTE the scene stutters for a second, it doesn't flow smoothly. Every QTE in the game is like that...

I hope this puts an end to the defenitive version rambling from all fanboys. So much crow. :lol

Reading some of you guys comments, gives me the impression that Seperate Ways was developed on the PS2 from the ground up. Could Leon's mission be a port, of GC code? I believe the year spent on development was focused on SW. Considering it consist of areas and videos not present in the GC original.

i own both the gc and ps2 version, and i would have to say that overall the ps2 is the definitive version. i have no use for the gc version anymore. but hey thats just me!

p.s. i was reading through gamefaqs and one of the faqs says if you kill the merchant he dies and never comes back! fucking shitty!

That's what Capcom said, and the overall polish of Separate Ways compared to the main game kinda proves that. That said, if Capcom ever wanted to put Separate Ways on GC, the assests are there on the GC for the most part. My guess is that the polygon models for the new areas existed back in the GC days but were scrapped and brought back for Ada's adventure.

I really hope Capcom does bring an extended RE4 over to the GC as that would be the true definitive edition.

Not every one, far from it. most of them are real-time.

Uh, no. Unless you consideer the the "PRESS L+R BUTTONS TO DODGE" during boss fights QTEs. :P I was talking about QTEs during cut-scenes, and they are all FMV.

This is true, and the stutter makes them virtually unmissable.

But it would suck by 360 standards.
Well, err, not really. It's not as if 360 standards are very high right now. I mean, have you SEEN Dynasty Warriors 5 Special or those Neversoft games?! With lighting upgrades, 720p, AA and AF, and any other improvements they might perform on the game, it could stand up pretty well on 360.

This is Capcom, tough luck. :/

I don't know if this has been answered yet but does the PAL ver of RE4 ps2 feature anamorphic widescreen?

I can watch dvds that feature anamorphic widescreen using v-compression on my t.v, will this work for anamorphic widescreen games too? I mean, getting the picture with more lines.

Change the vertex lighting to per-pixel, add self-shadowing, raise resolution to 720p, 32-bit color textures, crank it to 60 fps, and voila!!

That may be so, but they are also known for not enhancing anything...

Yep. The same Capcom that couldn't make the shadows uncircular in the RE2 Dreamcast port. :D (a flawed comparison but still)
