So this game is awesome and all, got it yesterday and just got up to the part when you first have a conversation with ada and although i was adjusting to the graphics this scene made me upset about them again, it makes no sense why the graphics are not as sharp as the gamecube version

they look perfectly fine to me...

There is nothing concrete that its Las Plagas as well, your guess is as good as mine. At least I am showing some evidence rather than just saying "oh thats how it is"

what are you talking about? we've made plenty of points (blood, guide, report, prl412, etc). you've even quoted those posts so you can't claim ignorance. you're the one who's said "oh, that's how it is" with your "how can you deny that" comment. it's the most spurious evidence ever put forward.

My head hurts after reading that.

I got a short video up of the Bitore Mendez boss battle, its x264 so you'll need a decompressor (protip: ffdshow).

http://dot50cal.the-horror.com/Resident Evil 4 Wii - Bitore Mendez.mp4

It wont play on a PS3 for those wondering.

Q: Does the Red9 really need the stock in the Wii version?
That's what I used in the GC version and it's the gun I plan to use with the Wii edition...

Well, after some deliberation, I picked the game up yesterday. My Gamecube copy got scratched somehow and it would be sad not to have a playable version of the game in my collection.

A few things I've noticed:
The graphics have aged a little more than expected but of course still work.
The AI is worse than I remember.
It definitely seems like more enemies were added.
I'm having fun with it anyway, classic game.

Anyway, I'm thinking that there might be something wrong with my GPU. For most transparency effects, like smoke or clouds if you look in the sky, there's more than just dithering, I think. I see a sort of canvassy texture, vertical lines that remain static within whatever texture is supposed to be faded, similar to the texture overlay in Okami but only in smoke or whatever other effect. I noticed it in Zelda as well, and it's very visible in the Wii Menu loading thing with the tv icons. It gets pretty distracting.
Is my Wii messed up or is everyone's like this? I can take pictures tonight if necessary.

from what I've read on a french board, it seems that PAL version doesn't have true 480p (zelda didn't have it either) and this problem comes from this. the problem seems to disappear when the game is played via composite/svideo/RGB cable

All that evidence you provided just shows that he has Las Plagas, which I am not arguing, he probably does. But none of it proves he doesn't have the Wesker virus which is part of the T-Virus family. There are more than enough clues to suggest that he has been infected with whatever variation of the T-virus Wesker has.

The report shows that he had his arm before this incident, also he has been with Wesker for some time, and he was reported dead at some point, very much like Wesker was. Plus visually that arm is nothing like the Plagas, it stands out during RE4 cause its so different.

This mutation: http://youtube.com/watch?v=MmwjS6K9D2A

Looks like this one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=32CiLGcZuNs (and I dont mean that its an arm, its how the monster mutates)

Or even this one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=sVKamUj0fuQ

Basically choose any monster from past RE games and that arm mutation fits right in with all of them, it does not fit in with how Las Plagas operates.

This argument is so awesome. Its little details like this that make me love the RE series. I love it! LOVE!

Has anyone e-mailed Capcom about it? They will probably release a Wesker's report 3 after forgetting to tie up story details in RE:UC.

I have the same thing on my (PAL) Wii. I've noticed it in every single game except Monkey ball and Sonic. In fact I noticed in on my NTSC copy of cube RE4 on my US Cube. I see it in both 480i and 480p.

I've managed to reduce it somewhat by tuning the line doubler on my TV, but it's still fairly obvious. It's the thing that dissapoints me most about the Wii, I'm perfectly happy with standard def resolutions and the general graphical quality of the Wii, but the lines really really bug me.

According to Jpn Biohazard 4 guidebook, "Biohazard 4 Perfect Capture Guide", under the bio for Jack Krauser, it says that he mutated due to the Plaga in his body.

The phrase in the book: 'プラーガを体內に寄生させておリ、' roughly translate to 'due to the Plaga that parasites in his body'

Adding to that, all the mercs in the game seem to be from his unit, or at least provided/trained by him (as some wear the same beret as he does) and they are all infected with the Plagas.

Pal user here. I love the controls, not very far in. But 2 issues.

1. The first area wtf I don't remember that many enemies. I actually ran outta ammo and died first time lol.

2. Erm this is annoying I dunno why but the bottom line of my screen is green, and flickering like mad. I mite fiddle around with the Wii settings to see what happens. But it doesn't happen with any other game. hmmph.

Happens on my Wii too (PAL). I first noticed it on menus and at the beginning of matches with Mario Strikers. I thought it may have been a sign that my graphics card is ready to fry, but no more decline yet (that was a month ago). Also notice it at times on the Wii menu, though it hasn't really cropped up in RE4 as yet.

I couldn't say whether it's been there from the beginning or not, but I'll probably send it back just before the warranty is up.

yeah the cursor does kind of wiggle around and move more slowly without the stocks

Don't you think that would have more to do with Capcom's art direction and typical boss gameplay rather than any deep thought into the story? I mean if we're going to put forward what-if details like that, I'd suggest that it can't be the virus because Wesker isn't the type to share his power. he was happy to let his special forces team get zombified on Rockfort so I don't believe he'd risk creating someone of equal power by giving them his virus.

Ok, I hammered this game last night, and fell asleep leaving the console on.. this morning there were green specks in the dark areas (not all the time though)... I've read this might be the GPU overheating? Will it be damaged? I'm a bit worried now.

god damnit, 7 stores today and all of them sold out, it only released yesterday. nevermind it's winging it's way to me via internet order. hope I get it monday/tuesday.

Finally, got the game and I love it! The controls were a little weird at first but I got used to it after around 5-10 minutes, Wiimote aiming rocks your face! It's so clever how they used the stocks (Which I was wondering how on earth they would make work with the Wiimote) it was so awesome when I found out that attaching the stocks to the gun just decreases the sensitivity setting on the Wiimote :D

Waggling for QTEs and the knife works really well (much better and more responsive than in TP!) but I am disappointed that they didn't redraw the menus and onscreen displays (They just took the GCN letterbox ones and blew them up :( )

Overall, it's awesome so far!

Ok, starting to itch for this version... I could buy it this very day, but I'm worried for a lack of time and far too many other great games to be playing!

One thing (may have been addressed already): How is the gore holding up in the PAL version? As long as it's the same as GC I might be down another £30 this week :)

Somehow this game got harder... :-(

I just found out via CVXfreak's faq that PAL and the Asian versions of this game have TWO easier difficulties than the NTSC version. I mean I'm flattered but I'd really like to be treated equal and have an easy mode for me.

Just a note, guys, the PS2 version was tweaked in terms of damage outputs for several weapons such as the Red9, the Blacktail, and the Knife. I think these carried over to the Wii version.

I've been playing it today and enjoying it so far.
Got Ashley from the Church. She's cute. El Gigante's cute too.

Also, I bought the Red9 and sold the Punisher (and my original handgun). Good choice? I'm considering selling my TMP. Takes up place and I rarely use it (Shotgun's better for multiple foes). Or should I keep my TMP?

I'd say sell it. I never really used it.

Why not just keep it if you're only selling it for $5?
Because it would be nice to have $5 off the $30 they want for the Wii version. Especially with an additional $5 off from the best buy gamer gift card thing.

$20 sounds better than $30. And plus, I just dont want 2 versions of the same game laying around.

AdmiralViscen said:
Did you guys skip the rifle now that the handgun is so accurate? I'm approaching El Gigante and wondering if maybe I should just pick up the rifle.

I always keep a rifle too. I dont use one for Gigante, but I always have one.

But it's not $30 if you have the GGC. Unless of course you refuse to use the GGC until you sell your other game for a nominal sum. Just pony up the dough or trade it to Gamecrazy.

AdmiralViscen said:
Can't you kill him quicker if you snipe the Plagas that pops out?

What's your strategy for killing him? Just using the knife QTE?
Yeah, just use the QTE.

The Rifle's pretty handy for taking out enemies from afar. It's very powerful too. Good weapon, too bad for the reload after each shot.

Well I finally got farther than I did on the GC ver.

I've just followed
Salazar as he escaped the clock tower with Ashley, and now I'm in a room where two of those horrible blind dudes are stalking me and there's loads of other bad guys that I somehow have to kill silently. I have the Punisher, the Semi-Auto Rifle w/scope, pump action shotgun, not much in the way of ammo and health items, and one rocket launcher that I'm saving for a special occasion.

It's a son of a bitch.

AdmiralViscen said:
I would rarely kill a snake before it bit me on GameCube. Easy as pie now :)

Well, that's what an infinite rocket launcher is for.

Just realized I may not have to buy the original rifle. Although, it is a lot more powerful. I'm getting the itch to play this. God, I need more time in a day.

...Why are you using the Punisher?

(Unless it's an all-handgun runthrough. It's awesome for shields when you don't have a shotty.)

I just never picked up the Red9 or other handguns along the way... which has probably been a mistake. I don't think I can go back and see a Merchant now either :( I have plenty of money

This is perhaps the only RE I never needed a clue, faq, or guide for...it's so straight foward and well put together, I can only hope RE5 is just as good, or better.

The settings, characters, atmosphere was just all so perfect.

Plus they made Ada totally just badass. I really need them to remake 2-CV on this and RE:1's standard.

Everyone knows that the GGC's expire today (6/30/07) right?

Just beat the game today, a couple things bother me

First, Salazar. I stabbed him in the hand with a knife and right afterward before he turns into a huge monster boss he's talking with his hands and there's no mark on his hand at all. This doesn't keep in line with how the rest of the game went (Leon got cut on the face by krauser and the mark stayed there) which makes me wonder if Salazar was really the guy you killed or if it was just a mistake by the people who made the cutscene (unlikely)

Second, the last boss drops a ton of money but the game is esentially over at that point. What's the use of all that money if you can't spend it on anything? is there a way to restart with the money and weapons you have? I tried to start a game of professional but then I started with the same old weapons I started the normal game with

You get to keep it if you start a new game from the save file on the same difficulty level.

I'm pretty sure there is, as I recall on my second or third playthrough getting the Infinite Launcher. It was a lot easier on the seperate run-through because I didn't have to purchase anything.

So I'm at the farm/cabin with Louis getting attacked by a shitload of villagers...any tips or hints? Just getting my butt kicked over and over again.... (first time playing the game.its so effing goooood).

I just used my rocket launcher on those guys (while they still hadn't moved, right when I'd entered the room) and conserved my magnum ammo for immediately afterward.

...You did get the rocket launcher, right? By now you could've gotten both a free rocket launcher and broken butterfly.

Shotgun and grenades. Make sure you pick up all the stuff lying around before the attack begins.

BTW, reloading doesn't get enough love. I've gotten used to barely touching B and snapping my wrist for superfast reloads, very intuitive.
