Well I finally got farther than I did on the GC ver.
I've just followed
Salazar as he escaped the clock tower with Ashley, and now I'm in a room where two of those horrible blind dudes are stalking me and there's loads of other bad guys that I somehow have to kill silently. I have the Punisher, the Semi-Auto Rifle w/scope, pump action shotgun, not much in the way of ammo and health items, and one rocket launcher that I'm saving for a special occasion.
I just shotgunned the 3-4 zealots here and lured the blind guys to the far end of the room back and forth. They'll lose tracking as shown by retracting claws and you can just put a rifle shot in their backs at your leisure so long as you can keep a distance. You also have the bells in there as a distraction.

I used grenades to get rid of the monks first and then if you shoot on the bells the blind dudes will run into them, and you have to shoot them in the back where the tentacles are.
Grenades work to divert them too.
So I'm at the farm/cabin with Louis getting attacked by a shitload of villagers...any tips or hints? Just getting my butt kicked over and over again.... (first time playing the game.its so effing goooood).
They gather in groups at the windows, so what I did was go between each window, taking a moment to see which looks busiest, and prioritising which ones I attack based on how many Ganados are trying to break entry. I shot out at them, and when enough were in the vicinity, I tossed a grenade out. I had plenty of grenades at this point.
If there are only one or two at a window, you can leave it to Luis. Occasionally one or two Ganados will get in. When you pop one or two of these guys in the head, the Plagas within them might come out and attack. Stay your distance, and take them out, either with your guns or with a flash bang. If and when the bottom floor becomes crowded with invaders, run upstairs, pick up the goods and get ready to take people down as they bottleneck at the top of the stairs. You'll also need to keep pushing ladders down when the Ganados raise them. Eventually, the attack is over.

I just used my rocket launcher on those guys (while they still hadn't moved, right when I'd entered the room) and conserved my magnum ammo for immediately afterward.
...You did get the rocket launcher, right? By now you could've gotten both a free rocket launcher and broken butterfly.

push the bookcases in front of the windows, and grab everything you can find then wait at the top of the stairs and shoot them as they try to come up, also knock the ladders down from the second story windows

Just finished at 15 hours. I don't remember the last fight being so easy as well. Ended up there with like 5 upgraded guns, 14 grenades, and 13 full health regen items. I had to clear inventory out for the final part of that fight. :lol
Only just recently noticed the wiimote speaker plays the reloading sounds as well.
Ordered this game online along with Odin Sphere. I played the GC version quite a bit, but I can't wait to experience it with the Wii controls. RE4 was the best game of the last gen in my opinion.

No, there's a big RIP thread going on right now at CAG about it. Look on the back of your card. The things have been around foreverrrrrr now (5 or so years), they all have that expire date. No new ones were printed for this year, the cards disappeared at most stores about a year ago, and they didn't even actually scan anymore, a manager override had to be done. Looks like they're gone for good. Here's the thread by the way:
Well thanks for the heads up. There is still a big stack of them at my best buy and was just going to hop in there and pick one of them up. Good thing i havent yet.
Now i HAVE to sell my GC version before i touch the Wii version. I do not want to pay the full $30 for this, especially since I have the mentatlity that im just "upgrading" my copy.

Start off with barricading the windows and gathering the items in the room.
I unloaded my TMP (I was going to sell it anyway) to take care of the first couple of enemies. Luis should help out a lot too. After that, just use your handgun and/or shotgun. Don't forget to run upstairs when Luis tells you to. You can knock over the ladders on the second floor. A handgrenade could be useful.

Don't even bother with the barricades, that situation is all about having good tactical placement. Position yourself next to the staircase so that with your back to the hand rail you have a direct line of sight on the two windows on the right side of the fireplace, then simply rotate in place so that with your back to the wall you have a LOS on the windows next to the door.
Be smart with your ammo and when you retreat upstairs knock the ladders down quick then cover the staircase from above, they will eventually start coming through the window but it shouldn't be long before you win.
Yup, I just use the QTE. Nice and easy. You only need to climb on him twice and waggle like a madman to kill him.
Anyways, I need some Professional help! Im on the part just past the boss fight with the two huge pit beasts (the one where you use a trapdoor to sink one in lava), where you have to go outside into a canyon and switch on two sets of lights to open the door, with all those flying bastards attacking you non-stop. This was a joke on Normal, but on Pro, I am getting owned left and right. Like I will flick one switch, then a swarm of 10 or so of them comes in after me, and I kill half of them or so, but then one rips my head off. Is there an easy way to deal with these bastards on Pro?
I am really enjoying this game, playing it for the first time ever. I like the controls and this one of the first games that my wife has shown an interest in watching.
The control are great. There is a lot of room for improvement, but i have yet die because of the controls.

This game sounds so good. I was worried about the wii controls, but it looks like it works perfectly. I'll definitely be buying this when i get a wii, which is next week hopefully
When playing on the GC/PS2 in the past, I ask people watching if they want a shot (gamers and non alike), and the vast majority say they're just enjoying the show I put it down to the brilliant pacing - seems to get an audience wherever you are!

I've had to play the game back from the beggining, but **** me, it's still been an intense and stressfull journey. About 12 hours in, and 8 of those hours were done tonight non-stop. The only reason I had to stop was because the Wiimote battries died, and of all places it was against one of those blind dudes. >_< Luckily, I had enough juice in the thing to quickly switch it on and plant a final bullet into it's back.
Anyway, I was thinking about this game last night and tonight, and the worst thing about this Resident Evil and the ones before, is the unknown. I've still not got to the section where I last played it on the GC, but even still, there has been tons of situations that I have never come across up untill this time round, and not knowing what's waiting for you around the next corner unsettles me!
Is it a bunch of Monks with bullet proof skull helmets? Oh no, it's just a pot...*smash* ****ING SNAKE!!! *faints* I hate them damn snakes, such a cheap trick! xD
The game just sucks you in, makes you paranoid and there was never a moment where I was taking it easy...there's always somthing even in areas where you are meant to be safe, that you just don't want to put your gaurd down. Great example of the paranoia that hit me was at the start in the Farm area. Decided to search out for the Blue Medallions, sharp shooting them from as far away as possible...just because I can. xD Anyway, as I was searching for them, I swear I thought I saw one of the cows look at me funny. ;
The entire time I was in that area, I would now and again do a quick turn, just incase one of the cows tried to jump me from behind and slit my throat using somthing that shoots out it's udder...or somthing.
10 minutes later, I was still searching for the damn medallions untill shit got too much for me. So I grenaded and shot all of the cows in the face. I was then at peace. ...the dog got it too btw.
Bastard of a game. I'll be a ****ing wreck trying to play through Silent Hill, i know it! X)
Anyway, the controls on this version are so slick and perfect. The original controls were great, but the aiming and accuracy you can get using the Wiimote is rediculous. They are so MINT, that on sections on the original where I HAD to use the Rifle, i've not bothered with here at all.
*The opening area just after you met the shop keeper for the first time. Shot all of those fools off their look out points using the standard pistol.
*Dropping both boulders on to the El Gigante...piece of piss. PAP PAP!
*The Chair\Ski Lift: Where every single car has a few Ganados riding on them to meet you half way, shot every single one of them with 1 bullet each, sending them falling to their doom with no effort.
*Crows that fly away, can easily be downed mid flight with quick reflexes. Point, shoot...HAHAHAH DEAD.
*That area in the Castle where Ashley has to use the crank to get the platforms to rise out the water...Red9 pistol ftw baby!
I've probably only used a single clip of the Rifle, don't know why I bought it for. Probably sell it soon to make way for a rocket launcher to take care of Salazar. Little bastard.
Great game, enjoying it even more than I was last time. You know a game "has you" when you don't care about what's going on around you. Was playing tonight, and my dad walks into my room to see me half crouched on the bed, nunchuck hoisted ahead of me in one hand...Wiimote held to the side of my face in the other. I looked at him...he looked at me...he then shook his head and walked off. Pffft, he missed me downing 5 Zombies with one shot...POW!
A few months ago I was about to buy the GC version, but I somehow skipped it just in case they made a Wii version and they actually did
Bought on Day 1, the controls seem perfect to me. I remember reading here about a review bitching about the Wii Edition controls... well if it's true then this game was really flawless in its original form... but I highly doubt it for some reason Impressive game so far
I'm at the guy with the big machine gun in tha castle
Wow, about 5 hours in, first time playing it..just an amazing amazing game. This game makes me so tense and paranoid I let out a huge sigh of relief every time I clear an area. Possibly my favorite game on Wii so far.

Except not so much white in my sitting room. My wife is a horror junkie and when I was surrounded by villagers she was grabbing me and screaming. It was really funny, made the game much more fun.
She said she wouldn't play coz the button combos seemed too complex.
I ran through the first chapter because I wanted to keep the story going to keep her interested and I found out later I missed loads of great stuff. Now I'm stuck a little with only about 20 bullets and no heavier weapons.
Ah well, I am really enjoying the challenge. I could definitely see me playing this through again (not something I do ever, once I'm finished I'm usually finished with it).
Wanted to put my impressions with the game in. Picked up the game friday and have had time for 8 hours of play since then. Great great game. It is my first time playing the game though and now I know I messed up some things badly. However I recovered and have gotten into the
castle
.
The worst point was when I entered the little village with the bonfire and the dead cop for the second time. I only had two bullets left. for the TMP At that point I had not even found the shotgun yet. lol
I solved the situation with a flashgrenade, two bullets into the group for the hell of it, kicking some of them and legging it.
Other mistakes I did was not buying the treasuremap until almost the end before entering the castle. I somehow thought it only showed the treasures in that bonfire village. lol
So I missed most of the treasures for cash. Also I sold the mask before finding stuff to put into it...
But I persevered! I am as I said in the castle now with a red nine, riotgun and TMP. Upgraded damage on all. Have just met the little evil dwarf before it was time to run to the bus to not get late to work.
Such a awsome game. If you are on the fence still even after this great thread you need to run, not walk, and get it!
Beat the game at 3am last night! I was nearly late for work this morning because I slept in.
This game has shot up to tie with MGS3 as my favourite game of last gen, and my favourite Wii game so far. Versus the Gamecube version, it's much much better. It makes the Gamecube analog stick seem horrible... which I didn't think prior. I loved it for Monkey Ball et al. But this is excellent. The aiming really helped me through the game this time, whereas on the Gamecube, I stopped playing out of frustration. I'm glad I got to finish the experience because a lot of the good stuff comes at the end.
I love the set pieces...
the mine carts, the big loader, the jet ski run
. Some of the bosses near the end are really grotesque and still look really good despite being GC level visuals -
Salazar, and Lord Saddler spring to mind. The QTE stuff near the end kicks ass as well. I really loved the knife fights with Krauser. It was like 'playing' a Metal Gear Solid FMV or something.
I loved it.
I'm going to get stuck into the extras when I get home. Well worth the money, even though at £24-30 it's the price of a regular, new, Wii game. I can't wait to find out how the
Ada / Wesker / Umbrella
element plays into RE5.
I'm pumped for RE: Umbrella Chronicles now as well.
Bloody hell I'm still waiting for my copy of this game to get here from VGP including the wii Zelda bundle. I'm so pumped to go through the whole experience again, i popped in the GC version last night and i was disgusted by it just by thinking about the wii version.
