The Official Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition Thread!

God I'm a mess this time. I NEVER used the TMP, but now it's pretty much my go-to, especially when I need to clear out large groups of enemies (in the past, I'd use a grenade instead). Currently, with all weapons (except the semi-auto rifle) upgraded it looks like:

Rifle: 14 bullets
Red 9: 0 bullets
Riot gun: 0 bullets
TMP: 50 bullets
Broken Butterfly: 12 bullets

And I'm just about to go up against
regenerators. Yippee.

It's been said before in this thread, but after playing this, I'm almost dreading using a control stick to play Biohazard 5 :(

Maybe if it sells well enough, there will be a Resident Evil: Code Wesker or something. This will probably go down as the best port pretty much ever.

I don't care what they call it, this port needs a sequel ASAP. And that sequel is not UC. Forget control sticks, total last gen technology.

I am looking forward to what the NPD sales say, for WW we can double it and add 80-100k for JP.

I was surprised to see that we had two copies left in the store today. We must've sold at least a dozen.

jesus Ani... apart from your Magnum rounds that's pretty shocking.

what the **** did you do with all your ammo?

Everything had to die.

I think I wasted about 50 rounds from my red 9 on the mine cart scene. I was pretty good at picking them all off, but some wound up right next to me.

some areas i believe have a trickle feed of enemies from special doors or ledges you can't reach and such where you can never 'kill them all'. they're pretty rare though.

I've faced a couple situations where if I go back a little ways, I'll run into a couple more enemies.

I always ALWAYS kill everything in the game, and have many many times that much ammo at that part, what the hell dude :lol Are you even attempting to shoot people in the head/knees with a single shot to do a kick/suplex on them or anything like that?

Regenerators! Rifle + thermal scope is the best way to take care of 'em.

Its the only way, is it not?

In certain sections on Pro, yes, they do.

I was doing that more in the first couple chapters. Never got a suplex before (meaning, in the Gamecube version), but I tend to keep the enemies at a nice distance. Now I just shoot them in the head until they die.

This thing actually sold out on Amazon. It still says "will be in stock soon" as of right now. It's been two weeks now and it's hovered around the top 5 consistently, never leaving the top 10.

Hurrah my Aussie copy will be arriving tomorrow! Its no different to anyone elses yay!

I really don't think Capcom printed enough. It's happening across the intertubes.
I don't know how well stores are stocked or if it is a logistics problem.

Disappointing none the less. I have to wait a week too.

Dude, it's alllll about suplexing on the island. Shoot once or twice in the knee, they go down, you suplex them, half the time their heads pop, you're done. Also when you kill by suplex, I'm 99% sure no plaga will come out when you kill them that way. Also make sure you're knifing them on the ground (if possible) if it doesn't kill them first go. Otherwise I'm really not sure what to tell you. Make sure you're exploring everywhere to find ammo/drops I guess.

I was wondering if Capcom anticipated the demand for this game, they estimated WW 400k or something, I can see it being double that. I doubt they would have enough stock pressed. Could it lead to a sell out and a long delay for the restock..

All interesting questions.

Quick question: was there any sort of marketing for this port at all in the North America/Europe apart from the official trailer/cheesy white people in white clothes on the official website?

I'm not really in trouble yet. Once I'm fully out of rounds and grenades, I'll be close to screwed. Then when I run out of health items, I'll be PS3'd ****ed.

Yup, I didn't see it on any of the free terrestrial channels. (with the vast majority of TV viewers). But it was definitely on some satellite stations.

please keep the sales shit out of this thread...it's annoying.

What we need more attention to is how AniHawk is screwed, you better be accurate against the reginataors!

Where did those stock status come from?

There was some TV ads on a UK station I think. It looked like it was being marketed by Nintendo rather than capcom though. They sponsored a TV program, so the ad is shown at every break, very smart IMO. It was a similar deal with strikers.

It could mean a RE:5 waghle spinoff so it's pretty interesting to follow.

This is where I made mistakes, I got too excited and ran out of the village before I got anything much and have been scrapping by ever since.

That area has more than enough ammo to take care of those things. There are... what? four in that first area (lab, frozen place, walkway, iron maiden in the other lab)?

Solo said:

Nah, the formula for Regenerators and Iron Maidens is that they regenerate 1 HP per second. In other words, you just need a high amount of damage output before they succumb. Of course, slagging all the Plagas is an instakill.

(PS. in the PS2 version, it's possible to kill Regenerators using nothing but the knife. You can't do that in the GCN version because the knife's DPS was originally too low. Since the Wii version apparently uses PS2 values for damage, you might wanna try it out. -_^)

you can start supplexing once you leave the village. shoot a walking or standing (doesn't work on runners) monk or army guy in the knee or lower leg and he'll drop to his knees, then you do the almighty supplex.

in Mercenaries everyone has a different melee for stunned by a head shot, and when they're on their knees.

The only time I had played a resident evil game was the first one, and the tank controls annoyed the hell out of me. That being said, my wife bought this for me yesterday, and its pretty damn good. I loves me some shootin'

Maybe we need a separate thread for RE sales. If RE4:Wii sells 600k+ I can see a RE5 spin off or port.
Point taken.

Anyway, I just got done with SPM, I should start with RE:4 anytime late this week. I'll curse GAF if it ends up not living to the hype because I'm all giddy in anticipation. It's really hard to resist the temptation but I gotta pace myself.

This game is a classic, I have only played 50 minutes or so and gotten passed chapter one, but I know it will grab me until I am done. The basic mechanic, shooting zoombies or whatever, is so fun you would just do it for fun.

I honestly preferred the spinkick Leon used in the village. And BTW, suplexing is based on the enemy type you meet. The villagers you meet later on in the mines get spinkicked like in the village.

Hunk and Wesker is <3.

i know... that's why i said 'monk or army guy'. you can't supplex everyone, but you can start once you reach the castle.

i love that face palm thing wesker does that sends guys flying halfway across the room.

This is that 1/100 times that GAF correctly hypes something. RE4 will meet or surpass your expectations.

Don't shoot me, but I was a bit let down by the graphics, honest. :lol

I am already used to Mario Strikers Charged lush colors, huge poly count (3d crowd!) and helluva lotta fx at once.

Ive never played the game before, but I was quiet impressed by the GFX. It really got the look for an actual forest down. Leon himself looks great and the enemies I have seen are fab, a little too much repetition on the enemies in the village, something should vary on them.

To be honest I have been concentrating on finding enemies more so. (EDIT before they eat me)

"Don't worry Ashley! I'M COMIN' FOR YA!" was endlessly quoted (along with many other lines) by a coworker from when the game came out in 2005. I can't help but love how bad the dialog gets later in the game... especially the prolonged script metaphor between Salazar and Leon.

SALAZAR: Aw...what a touching moment we have here.

LEON: All spoiled thanks to your interruption. Why don't you do
us all a favor and leave before the audience gets pissed off?

SALAZAR: You're nothing but an extra in my script, so don't get
too carried away. Your biggest scene is over.

LEON: I don't ever remember being a part of your crappy script.

SALAZAR: Well then, why don't you show me what a first-class
script is like: Through your own actions.

Then there's the part in 5-1 where Leon sees Ashley on the computer screen and says, "Just hang in there, Ashley. I'm coming for ya." It wouldn't have been bad if they didn't repeat the "I'm coming for ya" line.

'Your right hand comes off?'

Luis had the best lines in the game. Pity.

"Did you send out the invitations? I said NO MORE THAN FIFTY PEOPLE!"

"Okay... It's game time."

"Okay. I have only one, very important question. You got a smoke?"

"Small world, eh? (looks at Ashley's chest) Well, I see that the President's equipped his daughter with ballistics too."

Yeah. RE4 was a real trend breaker for the series in a lot of ways, yet the absolutely terrible writing remains.

Well, I mean it's a pity
he died relatively early
. I'd like to see a game where he was the main character. A guy with a broken butterfly's gotta know how to shoot that thing in the first place.

NO THANKS, BRO.

EDIT

I think Leon Kennedy is awesome. I have this fantasy where he and Solid Snake went to secret agent school together, and the two of them were the stupidest people in the class, but since they could kick everyone else's ass, it didn't matter.
