The Official Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition Thread!

Well, I mean it's a pity
he died relatively early
. I'd like to see a game where he was the main character. A guy with a broken butterfly's gotta know how to shoot that thing in the first place.

Except that he use a Red9, not a BB.

NO THANKS, BRO.

EDIT

I think Leon Kennedy is awesome. I have this fantasy where he and Solid Snake went to secret agent school together, and the two of them were the stupidest people in the class, but since they could kick everyone else's ass, it didn't matter.
BUT ADA SAYS LEON IS A GENIUS!!!

My favourite cheesy bits...

The outdoor fight with Krauser:

Krauser: What is it that you fight for comrade?

Leon: My past I suppose.

Krauser: I see you've honed your skills.

After getting help from a friend. Leon seems more upset about this than when
Luis dies
:

Leon: Thanks. When we get out of here, drinks are on me.

Pilot: Yeah, I know a good bar!

(A rocket takes out the helicopter)

Leon: Mike!

This part was genuinely bad ass, the music rocked:

Saddler laughs)

Leon: What's so funny?

Saddler: Oh, I think you know. The american prevailing is a cliche that only
happens in your Hollywood movies. Mr. Kennedy, you entertain me. To show my
appreciation, I will help you awaken from your world of cliches.

(Saddler turns into a monster.)

Leon: Ada, stand back.

And this was more cheese:

Leon: Come on, let's go home.

Ashley: Sounds like a great idea. Mission accomplished, right Leon?

Leon: Not quite, I still have to get you home safe.

Ashley: So, after you take me back to my place, how about we do some...
overtime?

Leon: Heh. Sorry.

Ashley: Somehow I knew you were going to say that, but it doesn't hurt to ask,
you know. So, who was that woman anyway?

Leon: Why do you ask?

Ashley: Come on, tell me.

Leon: She's like a part of me I can't let go. Let's leave it at that

I lol'd

Also, the Huntington convo after the credits just to prove that Leon is in fact NOT gay

:lol

That's one HomoErotic fantasy.

so I'm replaying the game in professional difficulty now... and it's so easy. I just got through the cabin part, I still haven't died, and I managed to keep more ammo than in my first run on this version :-|

I think I got something like

Red9: 70 bullets + 10 in the gun
Shotgun: 30 cartridges + 10
TMP: 150 + 100 in the clip
and 10 rifle bullets waiting for that semi-auto rifle
4 normal grenades, 1 flash, 3 incendiary...

and two herbs.

I don't know how I managed to save all this ammo, since it was such a pain when I first played in professionnal on GCN

Still great though

Hm... I know RE5 probably won't make its way to Wii, but what would you guys think if the original RE4 made it onto the system - the one that was scrapped before RE4 became what it was? It had a much darker theme, with actual zombies, creepy moving dolls, guys walking past windows outside while you were in a hall, etc.

Quick question: was there any sort of marketing for this port at all in the North America/Europe apart from the official trailer/cheesy white people in white clothes on the official website?
No marketing here in Germany because it has a "Keine Jugendfreigabe" rating.

Umbrella Chronicles with tank controls?

ok, i got it. I forgot I had a $25 gift certificate to best buy and i couldnt resist.

I am all the way up to that big guy with the beard. and HOLY FRIGGAN CRAP!!! They somehow took RE4 and reworked it to be twice as awesome.

the Wii controls really REALLY work for this game. I'm picking off things I never thought possible.
on the GC version when i would get to the skilift part right outside of that eyeball door, i would die or get hit EVERY time. On the Wii version tonight, i picked off every single guy without getting scratched well before they were even close
. I am simply blown away agian and agian by how much the Wiimote improves this game. Not just the aiming either, the knife and reload is much more natural as well.

RE4 is one of those games that comes ever so

I did notice there was no difficutly selection, does that come later on?

"you catch on quick after all you and I both know where we come from"

"all for
Umbrella's sake,
oops almost let it slip"

"you may be able to prolong your life but it's not like you can escape your inevitable death is it.."

Suuuuch crap.

"Where's everybody going? Bingo?"

I bet Leon wishes he had somebody to high five after he said that.

:lol

anyone get 5 stars on each with each charecter yet?

is it worth doing? what unlockable does it give you?

Ahh... finally beat it again. So nice not having to switch discs. The remote is pretty nice, too. Lot of situations had me close to no ammo. I finished "It" with only 2 Red 9 bullets left (and some rifle bullets, but that would've left me dead).

Now I have an upgraded Riot Gun, upgraded Red 9, and almost-upgraded Broken Butterfly. Next time through, I'll get a minethrower for the hell of it.

Did you play it on normal or professional?

I'm going to download a save file to start on professional right away (I only played the GC version on normal)...

you should play on professional sir, normal mode should be prohibited, I wish I had the choice when I started to play

:lol A villager walks by and casually slaps him five... that would be great.

Does the red-9 have any purpose anymore? I mean the aiming doesn't shake at all with the new control. So what's the point?

Got my copy a few days ago. The controls are a little weird at first (espcially having to use the analogue tochnage your view), but now I've gotten the hang of it, I'm sooooo good. The Cabin scene was such a blast with the new controls, definitive version for sure. Just a shame about the image quality and lack of true widescreen.

My favourite Wii game, lolz.

the Red-9 is the most powerful 9mm handgun when fully upgraded.
debatable unless you're talking about single targets.

lining up shots to hit multiple targets with the punisher dishes out more damage total per round.

that's true but i don't usually find myself in that situation. For slow headshots (rate of fire on Red-9 is kinda slow) it has the most damage per ammo, and I think in most situations on normal difficulty it would be the best weapon

I was going to say this was sad, but then I remembered that this is one of the best adventures to ever grace any console at any time.

They really need to make this quality of game for the Wii, ground up. I hope the day of the fast, mini-game release fades a bit.

Yeah, I'm not negative on RE:UC...but man, a new game with these controls would just be absolutely effing incredible. Hopefully Capcom takes notice of the sales and realizes the market is there..

Even though the Wii version still have side bars, it is still better than the GC version, see picture (sorry for using old camera phone):

and after 5 minutes into the game, i think the Wiimote would fit better if the game had fixed camera.

This is my first time playing through this game, and I must say its everything I hoped it'd be and more :D

Question though (I looked through the thread but didn't notice it). Is there a High-Res scan of the cover art for the PAL edition of the game? I'd really love to use that for my cover (apologies if thats already been posted)

I forgot how incredibly atmospheric this game is. Man, going through the castle with the stereo cranked and the monks chantings...WOW!

Alright, the red 9 is the best hand gun. Funny though that capcom implemented shaking just for this gun. lol - well the red 9 does look cool with the stock on it.

I love the quick knife feature. No more aiming down needed - makes the gameplay smoother.

By lack of true widescreen do you mean to say it's anamorphic widescreen (image squashed into 4:3, ie not 720x480)... because that's what it is. There are no frame lines and no side bars in this version. If the poster above is getting them, sounds to me like he's experiencing underscan. Which I get rid of using one of the zoom / fill all functions on my TV. It's actually a much nicer looking game than Zelda: TP in many areas... one of the better looking Wii games. Granted that mightn't qualify it for good 'image quality' but considering the hardware, it still looks great to me.

Actually, it's always been a point of debate between the Blacktail and the Red9, esp. when the PS2 version came out with the change in dmg values.

YAY!
I finally got my copy! :D

[minor_rant]That's one ugly disc art[/minor_rant] :P

I downloaded a save file and started on professional right away and before I arrived to the village, I died 3 times :lol ...
The new control definitely doesn't "click" immediately... when I finally got to the village, I died once more... :lol

One thing, thanks to GAF... I CAN'T STOP NOTICING THE DITHERING... OMG, IT'S EVERYWHERE...
When I played the GC version, I never noticed it (I didn't even know what dithering was :P )..

Finished it, great game. But: where exactly is the RE:UC trailer?

Haven't yet finished the other extras, but can't find this trailer under extras either... Is it included on the pal disc?

It should be "Bonus" in the Extras section.

There should not be bars at the top and bottom of your screen.
