The official Rhythm Tengoku Gold thread - KAAAAAAAAAMO NE

Right, the DJ level!

What the hell am I suppose to do on this??

Ah, that's my favorite level!

So there's Yellow Guy (heh) and Blue Guy. Yellow Guy will either count off three beats ("Ready, Set, Stop!" or something like that) or two beats ("Stop! *beat*"). On the last beat, hold the stylus down to stop your record.

He'll hold his hands out for a particular length of time, then wiggle his hands and say something sounding like "Sooo-pa-show!". The beat *after* the last syllable, swipe up to spin the record.

There's basically two patterns:

READY - SET - STOP*stylus down* - (beat)
(beat) - Soopa - Show! - *swipe*

(beat) - (beat) - STOP! - *stylus down*
(beat) - Soopa - Show! - *swipe*

There's one part in the regular level where there's less beats between the stop and the start, so stay alert if you're going for gold.

Ura omote (the black and white level) is definitely one of the hardest thing I have ever played in a rhythm/music game. And I have played a lot of those type of games.

Ura omote took me like 30 minutes to "click". it then proceeded to be one of the greatest things ever. I played it so many times and i'm still not sick of it :)

31 perfects down, 19 to go! some of those will be downright impossible for me. I also came to the conclusion that doing perfect plays in any of the Rhythm tengoku games is probably among the most stressful things I ever experienced in gaming. I can't count the times I lost on the last (EASY) note just because I was trying extra-hard to be on cue. the drums were killing me on that regard, but I finally nailed it.

I was also REALLY happy to see it already sold over 220k copies :D

Edit: I'll probably perfect ping-pong 2 before love-potion. I get disqualified on random catches and it's driving me nuts since I don't get any cues for being offbeat other than the P breaking :(

How many minigames are in this? I'm having a hard time deciding whether I should open it or not. I could use the money, but not if this is as incrediblly fun and non-Japanese-speaker friendly as the first.

Open it, play it, love it. It's very similar to the first in almost every way, only now it's with a touch screen with new games.

There are 10 stages + secrets, so you are looking at around 50+ stages.

Funny enough, the 2nd stage with those guys is actually easier.

The first one won´t give me a gold, no mater what I do! >:(

and just to salt Kilrogg´s wound, this game is MUCH more fun than Rhythm Tengoku!

:D :D
Well it started to click with me but still not enough to get a pass so I used the coffee mug skip. And somehow I got a gold on that following remix with a bunch of near misses. There's a couple of levels I went back to get gold on that I had just passed that I managed to get perfect on. But then when it was time for the challenge, I always seemed to mess up. :lol

Edit: Oh I also noticed another cameo from the GBA version. In the one with the girls in the six boxes, if you nail the timing down perfectly and the stars appear,
the guy who jumps from box to box in the last game will be hanging on one of the stars
. I smiled when I saw it.

An empty mailbox for an empty day.
They say the beat is non-stop, yet I wonder.
For me, will it ever start?
No joy, but sadness.

:'(

Just got the game yesterday. So far, I reeeeeally don't like Ping Pong. Not that I think the game is bad, it's just, I always feel like the control is letting me down, where as in most other Rhythm Tengoku games I feel like I'm the one at fault.

The space "shooting" level right after it, however, is awesome (that's where I'm at now, since I had little time to play yesterday).

i didnt like the ping pong at first either, but hten i found the rhythm and it became easy...well,besides the one where the ball hangs in the air for a while, still dotn have tie timing for that.
most difficult for me so far is the damn robots near the middle of the song, cant find that rhythm. trying to get gold on that then gold the first remix.

while this game aint no ouendan,it certainly is fun.

I think an ura-omote t-shirt would be badass, and I want one :(

Ha ha ha HAHAAAAA hup hup hup hup hup

HOO HA HOO HA

While I've only played a few of the minigames so far, I don't like this nearly as much as the first. Using the stylus doesn't really add anything.

Finally got the game.

I played up to the shugyou game (the one where you gobble manjuu by slapping your arm), and it's great!

I had a few problems with the touch screen, but nothing serious. It just that I sometimes miss without knowing why.

Some of the games are pretty hard, but other are hilarious, like the one with the three bird soldiers and the duck.

I put it down for the moment, because this kind of games gets me on my nerves if I play them for too long, but I'm definitely not disappointed :D.

Argh! Can anyone give me some tips on the Ghost Band (5-2)? I've tried it a dozen times and I keep getting "Thank you."'s and failing. What am I doing wrong? :(

So I'm kind of out of the loop on this game... how is the American localization going to work? Is it going to have new music (in the vein of EBA) or will it just be a straight translation?

This game seems like it'd be right up my alley, but I don't really want to import, especially if there's a US translation coming fairly soon.

Jus got this today :D
Haven't got far so far, nearing the second remix, but I'm enjoying it so far. I haven't had any control issues once I learnt the basics (tap and flick), just rhythm issues :P

Great fun so far.

I just got to this, and the training before playing broke my brain. I have a feeling I'm going to be stuck on this one for a while.

Is there even a way to beat the 8th remix? I can't believe it's so hard!

I was stuck at the same spot this morning; my first try was a horrible failure. My second try I got gold.

There's sort of two major sections that were tripping me up:

The Ping Pong / Vegetable Ninja section is disconcerting because it's rapidly changing between the two games, but there's a helpful catch: the swiping rhythm is the same across both games. So just keep swiping at the same rate the first time through and you'll make it through.

There's also a section that throws about four games together - Photographer, Egg Eating, and the Pecking Birds. (I'm forgetting the fourth.) Like the other section, this is a fairly constant rhythm - you're hitting on the second and fourth beats, up until the pecking which is a triple tap on three-and-four.

There's also two Taiko drum sections, some Ura Omote (the change back from black to white occurs mid-measure, so watch out), and some Fill Up Robots. I could not get the timing right at all for the robots, and even missing 75% of them, I still got gold.

Hope this helps.

Just got it yesterday! I LOVE the first minigame
coin tossing
.

One question: what's the bottom left option in the sound menu? You can pick between two options, but they seem to have no effect.

Sorry if it's already been answered, I don't feel like reading through the whole thread as I was already spoiled by some animated gifs.

With those AWESOME .gifs, I thought you guys might also enjoy some of my renders I cut out of the art.

Thank you.

Sadly, I got the helpful catch in the ping pong/ninja part, but I still can't get it right, and that's the reason why I can't complete the level. Once you miss one hit in this part, you're likely to miss another 5 hits at least. There's just too much stylus-sliding involved for me to keep up, I always end up missing something, although I did improve. I'll eventually get it, but still. Funnily enough, the rest of the remix is pretty easy if you ask me. Some people here seem to have trouble with the robot factory, but it's a piece of cake in my opinion... Well, up until Robot Factory 2, that is, because this is "one hard son of a bitch" (AVGN).

Ping Pong 2 was a nightmare for me. Again, the rhythm isn't that hard to get, I guess, but I just don't like how you must do flicks upon flicks upon flicks at a hellish pace :/.

FINALLY got this today and I'm LOVING it. It's easily as good and as difficult (in a good way) as the original, IMO. The flicking component is great - doesn't interfere with the core gameplay at all, thankfully. I do think the language barrier could be a problem for some - I had to look through this thread for help with a few games - but anyone worried about that can just wait for the localized version. Anyway, I'm soooooooooo happy to have two RT games in my collection now :D

So, I´m just 10 stages short from all perfects... is there any reward from obtaining that? I´m loosing my motivation to go through some stages, including those (arrg) moai heads ones...

Awesome game, just felt a bit shorter than the original, but it was sooo sweet!

I've just started playing the game and have golds on all the stages I've played so far ... except the damn moai head stage! I can't imagine I'll ever be able to get a perfect on the stage, though :lol

I have like 9 perfects left.. but the fact I'll never be able to perfect love potion discourages me from even trying. I always fail on the first/second potion catch. it's ridiculous.

Well, I got through Ghost Band, but now I'm incredibly stuck on the Black/White stage. I can't tell if I'm missing a cue or if I'm just terrible at it.

I love this game though. Now I'm mad that I never got the GBA version. D:

Yeah, the GBA version is better in every way. This one is actually pretty disappointing to me.

Huh, I'm actually enjoying it about as much as I did the GBA version - which is a lot :) I think I like the remixes in this version a bit better, save the 4th or 5th remix (can't remember which one right now).

The black/white stage definitely is tough, even if you aren't missing the cues (IMO), partially because it's so damn fast. Still, I love it :D

Well, you might already know that, but the key is to do a double-tap either when the voice says "Ha-HA!" (second "HA") or "Hmm-ha Hmm-ha-hoy" (first tap on the "ha", second tap on the "hoy"). It took me a little while for it to click, but once it does, you can even do the second version Uraomote without breaking a sweat.

Now, Ping Pong 2 on the other hand...

Fuck Ping Pong 2. Obviously my rythm abilities will never be good enough for this game :lol been stuck there for at least 3 days, so I gave up and just started collecting golds

How easy is it to convert this one to a PS3 theme/wallpaper? I've never mucked with that yet...

Themes are a little more complicated, but wallpaper? Just copy it to your PS3 on a flash drive and you can set it as the wallpaper.

To finish Ping Pong 2 I had to do two things:

1- Adjust my flicks so I would do large, long strokes. Somehow this helped with my rhythm.
2- Closed my eyes and followed the beat

It worked - I still had some misses, but I managed to clear it. It's still freaky hard though.

Well, I have it set as wallpaper, but I can't figure out where to change the font color so I can see the text against the white backdrop. :(
