The only real problem with the God of War 3 clip is that it was way too short. What they did show looked pretty damn good. Not sure where the backlash is coming from. It's impossible to tell from that midget clip how valid Jaffe's "painting come to life" claims are - there's not nearly enough content there, nor context. Regardless, it's all very subjective.

Er... I'm not saying the game looks horrible, but it's really not a whole step above Gears 2 in the graphics department.

Cameramen are usually told to focus in on certain things. It very well could be the director and their horrible ability to film a tv show.

The cameraman seems to know what he is doing, he zooms in and focuses every chance he gets... So I don't think it's that he doesn't know how to frame things.

EDIT: We could also just be getting the scraps. While certain cameras are on the TV live, the other cameras that are not just stay where they were incase they switch back to them.
