Are you crazy? She's 17, has gone to the fourth round in two grand slams in a row, at her best plays a very smart, varied game of tennis... What's not to hype? If she falters here, against someone ranked 57 places above her, it's more as per expectations than a "fail". This tournament is a great success for her already.

No idea, but it seems like all of the players that she's faced so far have been choking (easy missed shots, boatload of double faults, etc..)
 
I don't think Masha choked, she's got a serious problem with the serve. It must be so tempting for her to revert back to the tried and trusted motion - but that would mean the end of her career.

Looking back on that match it is literally fucking amazing she got to 3 sets and was barely beaten.

Errr no. Dementieva bottled it. You don't see her or Serena lose to randoms when fit and healthy unless they choked. She is a far better player than Oudin.

True, but I did get a wink from Kirilenko when she was stretching 5 feet from me here in Toronto...I was in full perv mode though :lol

It is yet to be seen if she can be anywhere near as good. So far, all I've seen is a solid defensive player with a toothless serve. I predict she will hit a wall in this tournament once she plays someone who doesn't make twice the unforced errors she does.
 
Am I the only one who wants to see Oudin utterly smashed in a game. I have nothing against her I just hate crowd favorites. It doesn't look like we are going to see that this game. I hope woz wins her next game and then smashes Oudin. Can vs USA !!
 
But Henin was 21 when she won her first slam.. so you can't judge either way. Prospect is there, is all I'm saying, and low height isn't necessarily a career-stopper.

That fence was the same height here in Toronto when she was on a practice court. I had both elbows resting on the fence and her tennis bag was in front of me. She was a foot away when she went into her bag, bending over of course. :D

Wozniacki is Danish. You're thinking of Aleksandra Wozniak, who's been eliminated.

Funny you say that because I was at centre court here in Toronto for her QF match and her serve sucked then. Deadly power strokes though but nothing beats her annoying:

"Come on!" after a winner...
 
Oh, Sharapova is annoying as hell, to be sure. My hatred for screamers predates the Williams sisters and Sharapova era. I've hated obnoxious screaming since the Monica Selees days.

Well yeah, but Sharapova is one of the best if not THE best player when shes healthy(After Henin retired and before Clijsters returned that is) Yes that means that IMHO shes a better player than both the Williams Sisters.

And anyone who believes in that magical thing the reporters liked to call momentum should watch Wickmayer vs. Kvitova. There are like 24 "momentum shifts" in one serving game.

Go get'em little boy!
 
Petrova turned to shit at the end, but lets take nothing away from Oudin. Her play earlier in the match triggered this collapse.
