I don't disagree that he is the greatest of all time but if Nadal remains injury free

His style of play ensures that he wont. You're also assuming that no one else will come up and challenge him like Nadal has with Federer.

I expect Fed to win another 5-6 slams in his career. No idea about Nadal.

I can see Fed winning 4 more easily. This one, another 2 Wimbledons, and another US. He gets up for those 2 slams and can set all time win marks in both so he'll have the motivation. Aussie not so much, French only if Nadal isn't playing his best.

I agree that there will be challengers but Nadal has mad skills. I can see him dominating and perhaps nabbing all 4 in a year if he stays fit.

Fed's consistency though, is what makes him stand out as the best ever, regardless of his head to heads. Brilliant to watch, so effortless in his movement and shotmaking. I hate it when he makes errors because I have just come to expect winners from every shot.

The fact that he won the French last year helped reinforce it too.

Yet I've heard people say "it doesn't count" cause he didn't have to face Nadal in the finals. Even though Nadal was in the same tournament and lost, he's somehow held to a higher standard and "would have won" if he only could have beaten that pesky Soderling. LOL.

Let's see how many semis and finals Nadal can consecutively make in slams. I don't think anyone will touch Federer's overall consistency. He's money.

Do you realize no men's player has won a calender Grand Slam since Rod Luver in 1969? Don't get me wrong, Nadal is a talented athlete but I don't seem him pulling that off.

Laver.

And yes I do know that but I believe he or Fed are capable. It would take a Herculean effort but I believe it's possible.

Good win for Gonzo, if Monfils doesn't get the job done against Rafa Nando certainly has a good chance in the next round. Penetta isn't going to win this match, but don't be fooled into thinking that Serena isn't having to work her ass off out there. Serena is also playing a much more steady/heady game out there because she knows Penetta isn't going to donate as many points from the power assault.

You just watch, Federer will pull a Grand Slam next year. Oh yeah.

Actually, the year after someone has a year like Fed has had (in the Slams) is when the wheels usually fall off for a bit. I'm thinking the same will happen to Serena next year.

And next up is Clijsters, who can be just as (or nearly as) steady as Penetta but has more power when it's needed. I really think Clijsters is going to win - assuming she keeps her head on straight (which is asking a lot this US Open).

Other than that, go Rafa! :D

Yeah, I'd like Clijsters to win, but Serena get's so many free points off her serve. There are plenty of players who have the ability to stay with her off the ground, but the difference maker is usually her serve. I like the fact that Serena showed a little variety, and tightened things up playing much more intelligently against Penetta. Actually, she didn't have a choice, she had to play smarter out there to beat her.

As far as Rafa, I wasn't too impressed against Almagro in the previous round, and Rafa/Gael could be lights out stuff. Should be intense.

I agree with this. She is showing a bit more patience and long term awareness. She seems to be finding a way to get it done, even when she's not as good.

This is an awesome match.

Great stuff between two exceptional athletic movers. Rafa is susceptible against a larger portion of the field on fast hardcourts injury or not. If Gael doesn't get him Gonzo probably likes his chances on this type of court. I'd prefer to see a Fed/Nadal final because Rafa has never been able to get it done at hte Open, but we'll see.

I don't like this. Nadal is having way too much trouble holding his serve, and Monfils is having easy service games.

This type of court favors the bigger server, but I see Nadal breaking on a loose Monfils service game. Maybe on in which he doesn't make enough first serves. I see a little shift in momentum coming here...

Edit: Or I could be completely wrong

Monfils needs t let this set go and rest up for the 3rd. Otherwise hes done.
