i just turned it on. wtf happened

Serena played like crap the whole time.

then at 15-30 5-6 second set, a lines person called a foot fault on serena which made it a DF. and then Serena threatened to kill the Lines person.

She was disqualified

she deserved it.

Serena revealed her true nature.

Revealed? She revealed that a long time ago, that's why she's one of the most disliked players on the women's tour...scratch that, she's one of the most disliked players in tennis.

To be fair, she had a legit right to be completely pissed off on the call. But then she just went nuts.

Serena revealed her true nature. I never liked her and never will.

She's one of the best athletes of all time, no amount of Haterade will change that :D She's an emotional player and while she handled this situation horribly, the call was just as shitty.

Well, that was... interesting. Shitty way to go out. I think the situation could've been handled differently, considering she never made a foot fault.

Serena claims she did not say that! Can we verify what she said?

The commentator said she was threatening to shove the racket down the Chinese woman's throat.

Good grief, stuff happens.

But Serena lost this match by any reasonable account. The fact that she became so enraged was just evidence of how badly she was playing.

Serena's won Grand slams after being down match points in semi's on three separate occasions, the last being Wimbledon. I would say she hadn't lost the match till the deed was actually done.

Well the official guy just said she had been warned earlier.

Frankly I would have given her back the foot fault point and disqualified her outright for acting like a total embarrassment to the sport of tennis.

Anyone would blow up getting called for a foot fault in that spot, legitimate or not.

Yeah, but they're generally seen in a negative light. The other famous "foot fault" blow up was done by Lleyton Hewitt. He was called for a foot fault several times in a match and then accused the linesman of favoring James Blake because they are both black.

She already had a warning so so instead of another warning she loses the point which was the Match Point.

Who cares if the lines person blew it, you can't react like that against the judges, sucks for her but was the right thing to do.

Serena already had a code violation for smashing her racket (in the first set).

If a player gets two code violations, he/she would lose a point. The point that she lost happened to be a match point.

She foot faulted at 4-6 5-6 15-30, and that gave Kim 2 mps. Then Serena started dropping the F-word on the lines judge and other threats. That gave her the second code violation.

There was nothing to suggest Serena Williams was going to slam down a few 120 mph serves to a choke artist this time.

Clijsters deserves all the credit in the world for her performance in this match, and Serena deserves none for her outburst.

We're in a post-Mcenroe world. She knew what would happen. She knew that you have to conduct yourself with dignity and composure as an example to the tennis world.

She could have even called for additional officials to see if she could get the call overruled, CALMLY.

Clijsters outplayed her the whole match anyway, just further proof that an intelligently played game can beat the power game. And Serena's true character was definitely revealed once again tonight for the whole world to see. "Character isn't measured by your wins, it's measured by how you react to your losses."

Damn, I turned over from the USC - Ohio St. game right after it happened.

Could you hear exactly what Serena said? I only got to see the replay where the sound was turned down.

sounds like she said she's going to shove the tennis ball down her fucking throat

Wow, she completely lost it.

Or you can do both... which Serena typically does.

I guess we should hear all about it the next couple of hours, the announcer said the crowd behind the lines woman should've heard it

yeah you are right and what just happened further justifies my dislike for her.

Safina must be loving this :lol

Alright, but that's not what you said :P

I would agree that Serena plays a combo of offense defense, but Clijsters plays the defensive/shot selection game better, but not the power aspect. The problem is people will always say "Nobody can beat Serena when she's on", well shit nobody can beat me when I'm on either. ;)
