This started as a discussion with a friend by thinking of cards games like Magic and Yugioh to implement NFTs
But it opened up a pandoras box when we realize it would work, dramatically, with Pokemon.
Pokemon, a mainline gsme, where the pokemon are NFTs.
Theoretically, NFTs could replace/enhanced two features to near real-time:
Rarity
Imagine 1 Zaptos or 1 Mew in the entire game... Across all players. And when a player captures it, everyone single players knows... Across all games.
That would create a massive change to the ecosystem and economic within pokemon. (of course other factors and features would have to be improved such as, the tame-ability of powerful pokemons, would certain pokemon even be possible to capture.)
Population
With NFTs, it would be possible to incorporate a sort of "limitation" of how many pokemone exist. For examples, what if there were 1million magikarps but only 5% of them can evolve. Or the possibility of endangered pokemons, pokemon that are not only rare to find but also impossible to find and reproduce.
NFTs could quite possibly make pokemons within a mainline series hold not only a digital value but real life worth.
Some will hate it, some will be intrigued.
What do you think?
