• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

the one game you keep on going back to

Crazy Taxi. I've played it every day for at least 20 minutes since I got my Dreamcast. I will probably play it daily until I die.

The Half Life series. I do a play through of them all every couple of years or so.

Hunt Showdown. Still ahead of it's time and unmatched on numerous levels.

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 on PS3 and Xbox 360. I probably play it at least 4 times in a week. No trophies, no acheivements, but I play it online MP all the time. The game is a classic. Although PS3 online will probably be killed in 2025. Just two more years. :messenger_sad_relieved:

Hunter-Call of the Wild

The game is just so addictive. It reminds me of PSO (hear me out lol) in terms of coming across a rare find. You can get rare variants of certain species and the spawn rates are such that there is a constant carrot on a stick to get that fabled animal that some players will never see.

The maps are gorgeous and relaxing, the atmosphere is incredible on some reserves, and the stealth gameplay is a perfect balance between excitement and slow pacing. Incredible game I doubt I will ever put down fully.

I play all these games regularly, most for many years. Two are fitness games though so not sure if they really fit the spirit of the post.

Nex Machina
Liftoff
Audica
Thrill of the Fight
Geometry Wars 3/ Retro Evolved
Tetris
In Death

Every few months I go back and start a new farm in Stardew Valley. Easily my most go to game. Thousands of hours have been spent on it. There will be thousands more, no doubt.

Impressive you still play it on PS3. Is it tough to find matches? Why do you play these and not newer CODs?

Street Fighter 3
Halo MCC
DoDonPachi
Battle Garegga
Mario 64
Ace Combat Zero
Daytona USA

These games will never get old.

Alot of those games for me are dead and buried with older consoles but for me in modern Era...

Most likely rainbow six siege. A game that I always forget just how fun and dynamic it is. Then I get hooked for months on end again once It bites again

It's like a 2 hours relaxation and emotional session enlightening all your senses, especially your ears with the music.

I play through it every 3 years or so, 2022 for the last time.

The music in the menu is enough to give me goosebumps.

The Pinball Arcade. It's my go-to when I'm in between more expansive games. I have all of everything for TPA (for PS and PC) from before they lost the Bally/Williams license, so that's 100 tables to choose from. For me, it's one of those games with the rare trait of "infinite replayability" that most games lack these days.

I'm no pinball wizard by any stretch of the imagination, I just love pinball. I also have all of everything for Zen and Zaccaria, as well as all the more obscure stuff available for PS4/5, but TPA remains my go-to out of the bunch.

My brother, who's a non-gamer, says I just like playing with my balls.

#1 for time played and consistency/frequency is probably Starcraft, but there are honorable mentions.

Super Mario World, Sonic 2, Sonic Adventure, Star Fox 64, Ocarina of Time and Mario RPG are all timeless to me, like Disney Vault level stuff.

I played PSO since Dreamcast and kept putting in a ton of hours, even coming back later on private servers, but even after I finally ran out of steam for that game, Starcraft kept going.

I've been playing this game since it came out on PS4 eight years ago..

Please. God. Help me..

Throwing out Tetris because it is a puzzle game, I usually run through Shadow of The Colossus and RE4 once every few years.

Well, since it has recently been thrown back in my face, which makes me remember it was probably my most played game ever up to that point (and I'm loving it all over again):

The original Animal Crossing. I have over 700 hours in New Horizons, but have thousands of hours on the original. I have the complete museum, catalogue, special events…everything. I just go around once every couple of days picking weeds and visiting with the animals.
Now that I have it running in 4K on the Xbox, it's even more amazing.
This past New Years I celebrated my 20th anniversary celebrating the countdown in my town. Just an amazing game!

Super Metroid, A Link to the Past, MarioKart 64, Street Fighter 2: HFE, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tekken 3 & Tag, Unreal Tournament, 2k3, & 2k4, WoW, The Last of Us. Those have all been repeatedly returned to, at one point or another, over the years.

WoW & the UT games were proper daily plays (essentially) for a long, loooong time.

Gta 5. I dont know how many versions i have of this game. I did play through it atleast 6-8 times and then gta online probably 1-2k hours if not more.

Tekken 5 and Tekken 3 are just perfect games. I still play them a few times a year.

OG Final Fantasy 7, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 2 & 3, The Witcher 3 and Demon's Souls (remake). I seemingly never get tired of those games. I also used to play Resident Evil 4 regularly but I'm hoping the remake can replace it. I'm getting a wee bit tired of the original.

Resident Evil 2 remake certainly replaced the original

Unfortunately not for me. The original is still superior to the remake (albeit the remake is very well made. I hope RE4 remake is, at least, on that ambitious level and scale, otherwise I will be very disappointed).
