The person behind the Wendy's twitter account quit

Nothing against people who do it, but it amazes me that people follow fast food restaurants and similar companies on Twitter. I don't think I've ever met anyone that I know of that does that. Some of the things they say can be funny, but I've just never had the desire to do so.

People like "sick" burns.

And advertising.

They also think corporations are cool or are their friends because they exhibit a touch of personality.

Shoutout to GAF for not being terrible social media, thanks everyone. So she revealed herself to be behind the twitter? I wonder if she did it for the fame or just to push it to a boiling point so she could quit. I hope it helps her get a new gig soon that she actually enjoys though. Hopefully she can write for someone and not be 'client-facing', so to speak.

Are you suggesting I remove The Chive link? I originally found out about this from someone on FB who linked The Chive article so yeah. I have no knowledge that they may suck, but if they do I'll remove it.

I just found it amusing, I guess. I certainly wasn't meaning to call you out. After I read her Medium post I started scrolling through her Twitter to read more from her.

I read the quotes in the OP but not the full article, did her job cause her mental health and health issues? It seems like the experience was terrible for her.

I'm not sure, but judging by other blog posts she may have already had anxiety/depression before and during all of this. So when the cat got out of the bag it just made everything worse.

That was horrifying to read. The internet can really bring out the worst in people and because of people stalking her we have lost something that brought us all joy. Thanks alot anonymous trolls -.-

I do hope she can land on her feet and hopefully finds a way to solve or deal with the depression.

The men in my DMs now tell me that existing on the internet entitles them to every detail of my personal life, to posting my personal photos on their Instagram accounts, and that I am simply unappreciative of their attention. Ungrateful.

beyond the fact that she's a chick and it's dudes doing the harassment

this is deeply depressing to me, because i feel like this is modern humanity at its most raw

She came to the job with some baggage and the job briefly gave her an outlet for relief before it went to shit.

How would you know what people here do elsewhere?

At the very least, an "Is Amy Brown fuckable?" thread would be shut down post-haste, unlike IGN

Not sure I follow, I'm thanking GAF in response to behavior I've seen on the site compared to elsewhere. Does it matter how GAF users behave on other forums? It doesn't quite apply to this site so I don't see why it should be considered.

It's interesting to imagine, well-known users being complete asses without careful moderation, not sure how commonplace multiple personalities per forum are though.

Her public twitter doesn't hide who she is, so it wasn't hard.. and she basically told people who she was.

People care because it kind of became a thing, she just wasn't cut out for the spotlight. No shame in that, a lot of people aren't.

I mean, her schtick has always kind of been snark and clowning on people both her personal and Wendy's... so a lot of people thought they were just having fun back. That's not really abnormal.. I mean if someone is cracking on me, I'm gonna crack back. If they can't take it that doesn't make me a bad person.

The DM her address and shit, flat out wrong.. but that shit happens all over. You either have to ignore it or not be in the spotlight.

Think of all the shit people say about celebrities and athletes that pretty horrible shit, or who's fuckable or not... it happens ALL the time.
Yeah I was specifically referring to those DMs and those forum threads about her. I disagree that you have to put up with it or just not be in the spotlight.

The corporate account was never about her. Celebrities and athletes are often all about their image. And even then harassing them with DMs is not okay. That shit needs to stop.

Men are so fucking terrible, good lord. We really really need to stop harassing women.

Anyways, I'm glad she's taking care of herself, and I really appreciate her being candid and vulnerable with this piece. That takes a lot of courage.

Well, I disagree the account didn't become about her.. maybe no about her in reality, but it was her persona, and when it became known it was her.. and her schtick was tossing out insults and snark it becomes inseparable from who other online persona.

She was the Wendy's twitter, and the Wendy's twitter was her. Being in the spotlight, even a little bit makes you a public person.. whether you want it or not. With that comes a lot of bad with the good. If a person isn't cut out to ignore the bad and enjoy the good then they aren't cut out for it.

That's not bad, it's just how some people are. Some handle celebrity better than others and what it entails.

I'm not excusing the behavior, but expecting that to go away won't ever happen, as it never has through history.

I still say this is why homophobia is so prevalent. As men, we know exactly how creepy we can be when we want something. We're just not ready to deal with the consequences. It's always a bigger deal when it affects us.
