Rumor right now but Level 5's Timer Traveler for 3DS is coming out for Vita and PSP as well.

Famitsu news should reak out soon.

No real reason why 3rd party exclusives will exist on handhelds when they have disappeared on consoles. Unless games are designed with the two screens in mind, or some of vita's specific controls.

Maybe because there's a giant freakin' leap between the 3DS and Vita. Like, a whole generation. Performance wise I mean.

case is huge for such a small flash card, there bigger than the psp box's from the looks of it.

its relatively easy to see that they are definitely smaller then the PSP cases in this picture.

And March 31st is a placeholder, its not going to launch on a Saturday

Didn't stop the likes of Sengoku Basara 3 or Tales of Graces (f) appearing on both Wii and PS3.
3DS to Vita is also a smaller performance jump than Wii to PS3/360. Still a "generational" difference, but a smaller difference none the less.

I can see 3DS lead / Vita port making a lot of sense for many devs, especially in Japan. Chunsoft, Level 5, who's next?

Pleasing news - Sony put up there 'Hyper' magazine from TGS online a little while ago, and per some earlier mutterings, it does indeed seem to confirm universal screenshot functionality. You press the PS button + START to capture a screenshot at any time.

JAPANESE PRICES != WESTERN PRICES

Games in India are like $20. I guess 360 and PS3 games are now going to be $20.
How in the world did you come to that conclusion? Console games cost Rs 2,499 there, which is $50 almost. Sony and MS subsidize the import costs.

ah i see everyone already got the email/saw it

"PlayStation Vita - WiFi"

That's not just "pleasing news", that's a GAME CHANGER for closed platforms. I will now proceed to loudly and repeatedly complain if any future platform does not support this feature.

Yeah, any console should have offered this from the start.

As if I didn't want the Vita enough, there is yet another awesome feature that will get me to be a first-day buyer.

Vita has enough RAM that if they've been clever and reserved enough for the OS. . .then we could see some very good functionality additions down the line.

Here's hoping.

Now I just want a little image editing app so I can take a shot in-game, 'mark it up' and send it out on twitter or GAF etc. - all without leaving my game. Like PC-master-race-GAF already can.

Thank you based Shu. I suspect I'll have a lot of use for it when the system launches.

Definitely getting Sound Shapes asap, sadly the Queasy rep said it wasn't up to them if the game would make North American launch, which gave me the impression they might be holding software for staggered releases.

That's a very thoughtful feature. If they could combine that with the ability to immediately and easily post it to an online service (such as a photo sharing service or social network), then this could easily become a major attraction, and a reason for someone to prefer playing their portable games on the PS Vita.

While they're at it, they should ensure that the ability to upload video footage from a game to YouTube (similar to what PS3 does now) is also included in the operating system.

I think having an option to auto mirror to a service like flickr would be nice.

In the absence of that you could flick open a browser and upload it manually, then share it wherever you like - an extra step, but no more than print-screen on my PC (although I'm sure someone will tell me now about an app that automatically sends print-screen captures to the cloud ;)).

However, I do wonder what this means:

http://ie.playstation.com/psvita/news/articles/detail/item398043/PS-Vita-introduces-multimedia/

Store all of your images and view them anytime on PS Vita. Check out pictures you've snapped with one of the PS Vita system's two cameras, and build up albums of screenshots you've taken while playing your favourite games.

Taken an amazing picture or fancy sharing a screenshot? Upload it to Twitter and instantly let your followers see what you're up to.

That's under the Photo Viewer app description - so maybe you can link a twitter account to that app, and more easily upload pics directly from that app to something like twitpic, without having to use the browser.

But, again, worst case scenario you'll open a browser, upload it somewhere, then share using the browser or one of the other social network apps. You'll be able to do all that in-game.

Would be lovely, but no mention of that. An app could theoretically do it if it had permission to look at any game's framebuffer while it's running, but I think that's kind of unlikely to happen. I do recall, though, that the nico nico people were talking about wanting to include live broadcasting in their Vita app, to let people broadcast games live - but maybe if they do that it will require developer cooperation.

I played the VITA yesterday!!!!!

I had an opportunity to play Escape Plan. I was more interested in the system itself than the game, luckily the game makes good use of all the Vita features.

The weight of the system is fine and it's not as big as some of the pictures suggest that I've seen posted on here. I wasn't blown away by the screen as I'd hoped but that might simply be due to Escape Plan's colour scheme.

So glad I got to play it!

I played it yesterday too! :P

I got to play Little Big Planet and I wasn't really blown away like I thought I would be. Maybe because I overhyped myself but I don't know. For me, it just didn't have that "WOW!" factor.

I agree with DoctorWho that it wasn't as large as some pictures shown here and when I was comparing it with my 3DS, it was only about an inch larger from the left and right sides. The weight is fine but I don't see this fitting in my pockets.

The back touch pad is... okay. It felt more of a distraction playing LBP because it didn't seem to be that accurate? and always seemed to detect my fingers when I was just holding the system up normally. I did play it twice though and it was better the second playthrough. Maybe I just need to get used to it.

I like the small analog sticks and has a pretty good feel to it and the buttons as well. I was surprised how tiny the buttons and the analog stick was as well. But it feels so goood.

So happy I finally got to play it :)

You both say the system weight wasn't an issue but did the system have a battery in it? Everyone else has played it tethered and minus the battery making the system rather light. Was this battery based?

A hint: battery can't be removed.

I played Sound Shapes, and the unit was light. It definitely had the battery connected as the only thing plugged in the unit were a set of headphones.

I don't buy that. No way its smaller than a UMD case, which is the exact same height as a bluray/ps3 case.
Why not, given that a UMD is considerably larger physically than the Vita memory/game cards?

On twitter Gamepro posted a link (which was broken) and said that Vita would not be able to play PsOne games. Was this in error or is there some thruth to it?
I can't find anything on their website.

edit: found this on thesixthaxis.com:

According to a recent PlayStation Vita FAQ posted by SCEJ, the firm’s upcoming handheld will not support PsOne Classics or TurboGrafx-16 games downloaded from the PlayStation Store.

The FAQ states that PSP software downloaded from the store will carry over with the exception of Game Archive titles. Sony has said that it will address the issue in more detail at a later date.

edit2: on siliconera (which sixthaxis took it's news from) they have updated their story and says that:

The US PlayStation Vita FAQ says PlayStation Vita will run PsOne Classics. (Thanks to everyone for pointing this out!) The Japanese FAQ states PlayStation Vita will run downloads from the PlayStation Store, however Game Archives, which consists of PsOne Classics and TurboGrafx-16 games, are not included in that statement. That’s… kind of strange since the US FAQ says PsOne Classics will run on Vita. Perhaps, the issue is with TurboGrafx-16 emulation? Sony released a few of these in North America and the PlayStation Vita FAQ in North America doesn’t mention these at all. Siliconera apologizes for the error and confusion.

edit - oops, I was beaten by the man himself.

A real life box comparison from DJmizuhara & RedSunGamer on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/RedSunGamer)...PS3 box, PSP box and then the Vita one on top. The mockup above looks pretty spot on. I presume the cardboard sleeve is just for the promo box.

No worries Go Freak.

Yeah most Japanese store have a cardboard promo box for the games, boxes are always the same dimensions as the real box.

If anyone's interested, Amazon.jp will start taking preorders in 4 hours 44 minutes. I wonder what price will they have.
