I haven't said this for MicJac, OJ, Geroge W, Clinton, McVey, or nSync..... but this statement really makes me sad to be an american.

OMG RACIST!!!

The whole "Rap is American culture." is incredibly arrogant, and a load of shit.

And then you turn on the TV and see rap music in various commercials... see it used in various sports events, background music, etc.... it's just a part of American culture as any other "music". This generations music sucks ass... you kids all suck.

I don't give a rat's **** about music. I wasn't talking about that. Don't get pissed because I don't like rap. It's not that I don't like it, it's that it's completely false to say something IS American culture. Yeah whatever it's a part of it, I don't care, but it's not American Culture. One thing isn't American culture.

Uh... at what point did you get the obviously distorted view that I'm pissed that you don't like rap? I'm simply point out that for something that isn't a PART of American Culture as you claim it sure does seem to get used to promote products in this country from time to time. That would seem to indicate that someone does seem to think at the very least it is a part of this country. And I have no f'n idea what you're trying to say in the bolded part. And you kid's today still suck. ;)

:lol I never said it wasn't a part of American culture. Point out to me where I said that, by all means. I said it ISN'T AMERICAN CULTURE. As in, you know, morons like John Singleton saying "It's American culture" like it defines American Culture. It's a part of it, but isn't it.

You're confusing the f*ck out of me now. So I'm leaving.

Louis Roederer Cristal has responded to a massive boycott over statements made about various rappers' patronage of the pricey drink.
How can it be a "massive" boycott by what Rouzaud has described as, "...only a small percentage of our total market"?

I don't like hip hop at all. I can live with it being another genre of music. far be it for me to want a genre to disappear because I don't like it. what I hate is that it really has become a large part of american culture. Now it's happened before. Hair metal, disco, grunge, hippies/folk, big band, etc... and every genre has its shot at the limelight before eclipsed by a new genre.. but it just seems that when hiphop started taking over in the mid-90's, that it just kept going and going and going and going.. it most definitely is the dominant form in music right now. I mean Queen opened up to Lose Yourself for crying out loud....

when is it going to switch? when will hip hop finally take a backseat to some other genre of music that takes over the spotlight? just tiring.

According to the poltically correct, you need to stfu and respect it, because it will be around forever, racist.

BTW, if you don't like it, someone will claim bluegrass or country music sucks, and then claim you're the racist.

why is that "good for him"? excluding a music from your product is good?

It's his product, that's the thing. "Good for him" is just an expression to demonstrate the absolute lack of importance of such a decision for anyone that isn't him. And since it's his opinion anyway, that's the crux of the matter.

It's not racist, it's what it is - he may not like rappers, which is fine. A totally valid viewpoint. Might be dumb for his business, though.

Gah, this again.

I hate the way they're backtracking on this; it truly shows the power of ignorance. Oh, Jay Z said this product is racist? Gotta support him, don't want to be a hater. BET is going to jump right on this shit, just watch.

You know they will, but still it's too early to tell if the network will back Hova...

Of course BET will back Jay Z. He's black. That's what BET does. They had that Lil Kim special. It's the same reason why Mckinney has ****ing followers. They don't care about the crazy shit she says, all they care about is "Hey, I am black and she's black, TIME TO SUPPORT." I am glad to see PheonixDark calling people on this shit.

You're an idiot. The statement "Rap is American culture" doesn't mean that hip-hop is the only element of American culture. The statement is simply saying that the hip-hop culture is not exclusive to black people.

Apparenly Nbots and rap fans are overly sensitive. Don't call me an idiot.

:lol "hip hop" is the new "black". I can understand Jay Z being offended and not supporting Cristal anymore, but calling it racist is speaking a little too brashly. There's way too many people with no association to Jay Z who have to be generalized in his case.

Not all, but most. If you're black and in America today, you're listening to hip hop or an older form of it at least.

Racist! I'm boycotting Wilco and his Spider-man franchise.

didn't say it was racist...just don't really understand why "it's good for him" like he just did some amazing...

I don't see how Amir0x's "Good for him" comment can be interperated as anything more than an offhand "Whatever" dismissal of the subject.

Along a similar vein, one of my co-workers told me that he took offensive at someone who walked up to him at the gym and "You come here a lot don't you?". It didn't occur to him until I mentioned it that the person could have been using that as a conversation starter instead of implying that he was unwelcome. People tend to see things they way they expect them to be instead of how things really are.
