The REAL Wii VC sales thread

That's how I've been doing it. Counting sales from JP and EU gaffers, but only sales of games available in the US.

It's a pretty flawless "compromise," besides the fact that when the current JP & EU-only titles hit the US, they'll be underreported, unless I comb through this entire thread. Like, right now if someone reports a sale for Donkey Kong Country and F-Zero, I'm only counting F-Zero. When DKC *is* released in the US this spring (or whenever) that EU sale from this fall won't be counted.

I guess I could go through this thread now and tally up those sales before this topic has too many replies. Then have them handy, but not report them in the thread. Then when DKC was released in the US it'd be starting at 5 or 8 or however many on this chart instead of 0.

I think I will do that, in fact.
Why not just add them to your list with a little asterisk next to them because they're available outside North America?

Are we only going to count GAF-goers' sales? For example, some of my friends downloaded some games, and I'm wondering if their games should be added to this list. The first post says to list the games you own, but they did buy these games, so shouldn't their sales be counted and added to the total?

(If so:

Bonk
Sonic
Golden Axe)

I can see why we wouldn't want to do that, but just throwing it out there.

I love this downloadable games stuff. I can see myself spending more on here than on real games if they brinmg the right stuff out.

I think you should only count US sales, because otherwise you're just muddying up the results with partial data from other regions.

People don't report where they're from though. If a UK gaffer reports in here that they bought Zelda and Mario 64 but don't note they aren't in the US, there's no way for me to know. I'm sure it's happened dozens of times.

What's important, imo, isn't to lock out Europeans or Japanese from reporting their sales... it's to have some consistency. I like the idea of reporting all sales, and just putting an asterisk next to those that aren't released worldwide yet.

+1 Gunstar Heroes (US)
(On GAF reccomendation)... just played a bit and enjoyed beating the first level!

Maybe asking people to put the region they bought the game from and setting up the spreadsheet to separate US/Euro/Jpn would be a way to go? As long as people are told they have to state the region, it shouldn't be too bad...

I have a plan.

The first post will count ALL sales listed in this thread, regardless of region. The games that aren't released in the US yet will have an asterisk.

Need to wait till I have some freetime to total up the jp/eu titles I've been overlooking up till now, but I think this will work.
