The REAL Wii VC sales thread

+1 Mario 64
+1 Super Contra
+1 Gunstar Heroes

Gunstar Heroes is a piece of crap. Everyone was splooging over this game, and I'm not surprised that most of the praises came from Sega zealots. I purchased it tonight and the game is just a mess. My brother and I couldn't get shit done because we kept flinging each other off the map or into the waiting arms of lethal enemies. Also, there were fixed areas where we kept getting bombarded with enemies and we didn't know if we were accomplishing anything because nothing would happen and we couldn't advance, enemies just kept pouring into the screen for minutes under the same animation. Many times I couldn't tell which player was who because the only way the game distinguishes between the two characters is through a very faint difference in the color of a small piece of their clothing.

I was half-tempted to call Nintendo and tell them that my credit card was stolen before the purchase of this game, and I would have deleted it from my Wii.

We went back to playing Super Contra, a competent game without the inflated rating or praise from Sega fans.

You had problems advancing in Gunstar, but had no problem playing through Contra III?

Your complaints against the game are meager and are likely the result of not giving the game more playtime.

The area where you couldn't advance was probably the part where you have to defeat that 'red robot' boss. It blends in pretty easily with the normal enemies, so maybe you had trouble understanding that you had to defeat him to advance?

I might be preaching to the (Sega-hating) choir here, but I recommend giving the game another shot. It's difficult at first, but once you know what to do, the game really is a blast.

I'm having trouble having understanding how somebody could LOVE Contra, but LOATHE Gunstar. It just doesn't compute.

Kid Icarus

I've been waiting for this one in some form or another for a LOOOONG time. What a pleasant surprise to get it on VC this past monday. :)

I'd buy Kid Icarus, but it's sitting in my NES right now as I pulled it out earlier tonight :)

Newest purchases (I already purchased EU SM64 and EU DKC, but I have already posted in this thread about those two purchases):

EU:

SNES: Super Mario World, SimCity

NES: Super Mario Brothers

Hope this comes out OK. I've only tracked the movement of the top 20, though all numbers are up to date to post 1641. It takes a while to sort, so I haven't prepped a chart in order of total sales/revenue, but if there's interest I can get one up and running. Let me know if you spot any problems!

Looks very nice to me...

edit: Maybe add a "Last Week's Ranking" in addition to just showing whether they moved up/down?
