The rush of only buying games

Some yes some no.
Getting CS:GO, no hype, no excitement, but I freaking love that game.
Starcraft 2, same thing.

Metal Gear Solid... omg...
I follow these things like my life depends on it.
All during launch week I'm an excited 3 year old.
When I walk into the local gamestore I'm also in a state of euphoria...
That first playthrough OOMMMMMMGGGGGGGGG
There's nothing that comes close to that level of hype for me xD.

Same, but only because I got sucked into the hype and my parent's computer was the only one fast enough to run it properly.

Hey at least you didn't buy it on 2 system like I did since I had discount I needed to use an figured it wouldn't look run as wobbly on PC. Well it turned out to be a terrible port, but through brute force I do have it running better but it's still pretty ugly up close on PC and the community was gone before I really got around to installing it. Might grab the Bone DLC on the cheap later, and I'm so glad I didn't make that mistake in PC where it must be justa huge waste Season Pass PC owner unless must have to wait for EAs to play the levels. If they ever decide to make that big framerate pach for the one I would put in a least a little more. Better really expand the content next time , and no way would I even consider it on PC even for the much smoother framerate uless I feel like they will often somethignthat othe I feel like they

It means you have sexualized your life and buying games is your orgasm.

Not really. I mean, I get excited about upcoming games, like anyone else, and sometimes am in honeymoon period with certain games I buy (like Pikmin.3), but the actual transaction has very little appeal to me. If anything, I alway feel a little guilty buying games, as I'm not on a huge salary atm and am supposed to be saving money.

The only comparable thing I can think of is buying a game, playing it for an hour or so, and discovering it's really not for me. Happened with both Sins of a Solar Empire and Bastion. But that's more based on my taste in games than it is any adrenalin rush from spending money. That to me is terrifying, as it sounds equivalent to the psychological effects researchers have found about gambling and casinos. The act of losing money can cause a rush, and it seems to be something that now forms a large part of consumerism. Which honestly, I find a little sad. Instead of craftsmanship, we're just encouraged to throw our money at tat we don't even want, just to get a thrill.

I think part of the success of digital can be attributed to impulse buys (and electronic commerce in general). A few clicks and you've spent your money, gotten your item.

With an actual store there's a lot more consideration involved.

There's a lot of psychological factors that come into play in things like hype and expectation.
