How the hell do I ride unfriendly creatures? I know you have to

When an elevator is not convenient, sometimes spawning a "wall" is enough to keep Maxwell from running off. It can also block off enemies if you're the pacifist type.

Yup, I've messed with that already.

I have a silly question, though...is there an equivalent of a "thin wall"? The actual wall is big, and a fence is apparently a background item. It'd be nice if there was something that worked the same way but wouldn't fall over easily. I guess "rock" could work for some enemies that aren't strong and can't jump/climb/fly.

Oddly enough, I noticed there is both a "box" (wooden) and a "steel box", and one of the levels even has a "big steel box" (apparently the same as a normal steel box).

I don't know about lakes, but I know you can place oceans. They have to be placed slightly below ground level I believe. Maybe you can only do it on certain types of ground, but I was able to place one last night.

freeze ray. Encases anything into a block of ice for good 10 seconds.

Oh yeah, I found that a hockey player was curious about a hockey mask. I put it on, and he attacks me. I guess he thought it was a rival team? Heh.
Also works with football player/football helmet and possibly other things.

It shouldn't be a DSi bug, that's what I'm playing on. I could be mistaken, but I'm fairly sure it was the ocean I summoned. I had to place it exactly like a pool, part of it above ground and the rest below ground. I'll try it again when I get home to double check.

You can attach things to them, like a rope or chain, then make Maxwell hold it or attach it to something else like a vehicle. Also, food.

Strangest solution so far?

Trying to catch the butterfly, I've tried using items to jump higher, objects to stand on, and items to attract it. In this latter one, I summoned "nectar" to see if the butterfly would go for it. It didn't. I thought "okay maybe it's not close enough to the nectar" so I moved the nectar above the butterfly. It pushed it down slightly. I was then able to nudge the butterfly down until it was low enough to grab. Cheap? Maybe. But it worked.
