The Sega master system appreciation thread of SegaScope 3D!

I played SMS Sonic the other day. For the first time since I was a kid.

Jesus, this game is hard. It's like the Dark Souls of the Sonic series.

Is that a re-purposed Mega Jet shell?

Oh, and the Sega version of Nintendo Power sucked so bad... but that didn't stop me from reading it cover to cover nonstop.

I posted this scan I did on Reddit a while back... didn't get much action (much like the SMS itself, sadly!):

oh man i totally had that thing on my wall for years man! cheers for that.

also yeah i read those Team Sega Challenge/whatever newsletters to death, would kill to get them back but the few people who sell them on ebay want stupid amounts of $ for them...still working on getting back early Sega Visions issues.

The cases used to store Naomi GD games are clear, and lack a little flair. I made this custom art for my copy of Final Tuned, and since I wanted it to be kinda special, I gave it the wonderful SMS look. It's not done yet, I still need to work on refining the pic at the bottom, but I hope you guys get a kick out of it.

The barcode is very tacky and I think I'll change it.

As a kid, I only had an NES and was always so very jealous of the Master System. To me, it was so much better tech and the graphics looked better than NES. I will always look back at the Master System with fond admiration.

That's awesome!

FIGHTING - perfect.

Haha, this is fantastic!

I did something like this for God Hand years ago; can't remember why anymore though!

Has anyone ever played Wanted?

Damn awesome game, but every time I mention, people just look at me as if I were crazy.
And the gun worked pretty great; better than I could ever calibrate my wiimote for light gun games =[

Just bought a Master System off of someone on the Nintendo Age forums. I've never owned one before. Get hype. Don't know what I want other than Phantasy Star.

Can a US system play imports? Want to track down a copy of Ninja Gaiden if so.

yeah so if you see Golden Axe Warrior PAL for like $25 don't hesitate & look it up like i did cause it'll be GONE

if you want recommendations, pick genres & lemme know! do you have a CRT? cause there's a lotta great light gun games if you're into that

Fuck yeah I have a CRT. I literally don't know what there is to buy for the system. I was looking at lots on eBay thinking about just plopping down a chunk of money to get a bunch of games. Not really many lots doing much for me, though.

Gotta go searching locally. I know a couple places around that I've seen some stuff at.

Great to see some well deserved WBIII love here - my favourite game of all time. One of my greatest gaming achievements was finally completing it after years of playing.

Enduro Racer & Zillion are two of my favorite games on the system. Oh and Wonderboy. And Alex Kidd. And Choplifter.

There are so many awesome games on this system. It lacks quantity but definitely has quality.

I've also been meaning to pick up a GG Aleste 2 reproduction. I played through the original GG Aleste on my Ouya using an emulator and it was really really good.

awww shit, 3 of those (Kung Fu Kid, Double Dragon & Time Soliders...god, look at that awesome box art!) are on my list, and they don't even look faded! nice haul m'man.

I see this Dragon's Trap with a hint line on the sticker on ebay... Is there anything different about the cart itself or is that just a label they use in Australia?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261381265019

Wow, nostalgia overload. I do recall seeing those stickers on quite a few carts back in the day, but I don't think there's any alteration to the cart itself.

I remember calling that number a few times too. I think it was for 'The Ninja' and they told me how to find a few of those secret scrolls (shooting a statue 5 times or something?). Man did that game get frustrating..

I don't have a master system, but I have a power base converter, and a model 1 genesis

However...it doesn't work D:

Any ideas? Granted i only have one master system cartridge, so it could be that the game is bad. Both sat in my garage for a few years, including summers and winters...

I called it for Mortal Kombat Fatalities.

Ah okay. Looked around a bit more and it appears to be just a Sega Ozisoft thing. I also found out they made a few Master System / Megadrive games with a silver cartridge? Fancy!

Yeah, Spinball's the only one I've ever seen as a silver one. The games with the blue hints and tips are just for a few games, particularly Sonic 2. Other than that, game is the same.

I hate to bump this thread for such a stupid question, but is there a comprehensive list of Game Gear games that were also on the master system? I know this is more of a game gear question but I was also wondering if there was a list of just game gear games on other platforms in general?

Ah, I remember walking in to my local Lionel Kiddie City and buying Double Dragon new for the sega master system. It was so much better than the NES version. However I think I preferred the Atari 7800 version over both but I don't remember why.

Beyond frustrated that I still haven't received my Master System. The guy I bought it from keeps giving excuses and apologizing. Last Thursday he did finally give me a tracking number and sent another apology claiming he was going to throw in some games to make up for the delay. That's great, except four business days later USPS is still showing that the label was only printed, not that they have even received the package. It shows two day shipping also, so I would have had it by now if he shipped it the day after he printed the label even.

Think I'm about to send him a little pushier message letting him know he has until the end of the week before I cancel the transaction with paypal. Tomorrow will be three weeks since I sent payment.

The NES version has some weird RPG elements to it but it feels more like a Double Dragon game than the SMS version. The gameplay is horribly broken on the SMS.

Literally the exact same thing happened with me on eBay several months ago, also involved a Master System (and some 3D glasses!) I wonder if it's the same guy. I never got it and had to force a refund. Left him some nasty feedback too, since he kept stringing me along.

Ah, Sega Master System, my first videogame console. :)

Regarding the Portuguese Purples, I'm only missing Sonic Spinball and Cheese Cat-Astrophe, not considering the Taz 2 myth.
Regarding the rest, there are still lots of classics I'm planning on buying on the future. Even those expensive ones like Wonderboy III, Alex Kidd, Ninja Gaiden or Master of Darkness.

like many, i tend to favor the original design if that's the one i grew up with...but that box is downright charming, from crazy form factor to classic sonic.

Today I found a complete Wonder Boy in Monster Land.

Awesome nineties Sega craziness. I still have my md2/cd2 combo, someday I will fortify it with lots of failed add ons, just for the sake of it.

Yeah, I've since added a 32X to the ensemble. No one man should poses this much powah! lol

Are there any games that come on cards that are worth even the slightest bit of damns?

My whole collection thus far are cartridges. I kind of want at least 1 card game just so that port gets used at least once, lol.
