+ custom "Ancient Alien on Board" bumpersticker.

thats like 10+hp @ the crank.

used unexpected tax money to finish paying my step dad back the remaining 400 for the car loan he gave me for the white rhino

shes got 355,000 miles on the body, as you can tell, lol. Custom wood flooring and upholstery done by the guy who had her prior and a 4.9 inline 6 i need checked out, since she's slurping gas at 8MPG It may be a piece of shit, but its my pos haha, only need it to haul my wheelchair around town, it serves its purpose

I love sports cars etc, but big, bad ass vans have a soft place in my heart. I used to drive my dad's white panel Ford Econoline 1 ton. There is something being behind a giant, if don't give a fuck if you hit me van that is thrilling. I couldn't see out the back, the steering had what felt like 6 inches of freeplay, but it had a roaring V8 and heavy duty suspension. So much fun! I like you bike set up too!

upgraded from my ole beater 1992 econoline with a 94 club wagon, got her for 1200, 200,000 miles, but that 5.8 v8 is mint/ almost new condition, runs amazing. Body's straight, no dents, nice paint. Nice having seats compared to my cargo one. Happy with it as my wheelchair hauler

only pic, will post more after a bit of customization :)

nice, you can take home several girls from the bar with that

Thought I would post one of my project since my daily is a work minivan.

That was from my under construction photoshoot for Minitruckin mag.

And what it will look like someday:

Since summer is around the corner I bought my Mini some 17" crown spoke rims with summer tires, love them. :D
Now the weather just needs to improve so I can actually wash the car again and take some nicer photos.

Keep threatening to trade it in against an E92 but then life suddenly takes over.

LTTP, but about a year ago I did trade my old 330ci in for an E92. Not a great photo, but I went for a 335d M-Sport in the end (the paddle shifters swung it). Absolutely love it. Ridiculous torque yet still gets around 40mpg. I guess I'll be looking closely at the 4 series in another year or two.

Currently stock other than tint and axle-back exhaust but I have quite a list of mods planned. Already have lowering springs but obviously haven't installed them yet.

I recently had some slight misfortune. I've been the proud owner of a 2002 Silver Dodge Stratus that happened to just last week become the middle car in a 3 car pile up. It was one of those good ole "Person in front slams on the breaks, you stop your car in time before hitting them, but the car behind was following too close and slammed into you, pushing you into the car in front" kind of wrecks. I'm pretty happy I walked away unharmed considering it was a highway wreck, but Poor Stratus, I'm going to miss you.

So after not buying a car for 10+ years, I was thrown into a world of looking for a damn car again, and I had a week to do it. After spending an entire Saturday test driving every Sedan in the 25-30k range I finally settled on a 2014 Mazda 6 which I just picked up yesterday. This car is freaking stunning and it's a crazy shock coming from a lowly Stratus. But seriously, I'm in love with this car. Blue exterior, Almond interior: the best color combination in the history of the world.

The best cars I've ever owned. Comfortable, fast and reliable as hell.

Wife and I just bought a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee last week. I just washed it over the weekend and it ends up raining yesterday ruining all the effort I put into getting the black to really shine. I'll try and post some pictures when I get home later today.

Beautiful car, I love the Mazda 6. Am wondering how the new Mazda 3 will be like if they follow that design philosophy. :D

Good Lord, I hope it ends up just as pretty. I seriously hadn't even considered buying a Mazda until I got my rental car after the wreck, which happened to be a two year old Mazda 3. I had so much fun driving the thing despite the fact it was bare bones (It didn't have freaking power locks!) that I had to see what a 6 was like. When I saw the design of the 2014s I was astounded. It looks so much better then the 2013s. Mazda did an amazing job on the redesign and I hope the 3 gets the same treatment.

I saw the new Mazda6 last week...I loved it.

Now if only Mazda offered a more powerful version of the car. Another Speed6 would be incredible

Finally getting around to posting some pictures I took last year of a car that if you're like me, you didn't even know existed let alone have seen one in real life. It was owned by a wealthy friend of mine who likes to buy cars to play with for a little while and then sell/gift when bored.

When I first saw it in his driveway I thought for a quick second it was an old Z, then I saw the Saab emblem......... and then the Ford sticker.....

So yeah. Saab Sonnet III. It's lightweight, has a longitudinally-mounted Ford V4, and front-wheel drive.....

This particularly one most certainly had some carb and exhaust modifications done to it, so it was probably making close to the magic 100hp mark. It still felt pretty quick since it's lighter than a Miata. Still, its hard to imagine this thing going up against the Z cars in the early 70s.

I know Saab was always into mimicking aircraft, but a huge fucking lever that says "LIGHTS" how cool is that?

Another cool detail of note are the seat-belt locks. You put the belt through that gap and then snap the lever down the secure it. It seems pretty primitive now, but this is within a few years of large American cars still coming with a lap-belt....... as on one...... for the driver only.

The button was for extra lights. In Norway at least until recently you had to route extra lights to a separate button, but now it is ok to route them directly to the high beams.

Thanks, you just made me re-watch the Top Gear episode. Love these details.

As of May 10th, I picked up not one, but two new cars from the local Toyota dealership:

The other one is a 2013 Auris Hybrid. Yeah, I know.

Back Story of my double dip was the following:

Had a Mk6 GTI as my company car for private use for the last three years, and most of the over 100.000 kilometers on it were done while on job or for commute.
IMG_0383_DxO800x600.jpg

Since the GTI was a company car, I didn't do any racing or stuff, the Autobahn and the A-/B-Roads were the sole areas of operations.

My field of operations is quite large and covers a lot of curvy mountaineous roads as well as several of Autobahn, most of which is speed limited, though.

In everyday traffic, the GTI felt (don't laugh) overmotorized, even when I was able to floor it, the rush only lasted for a few kilometers because of the density of the traffic over here.

On A and B roads, the GTI felt a tad front-heavy, the ESP and stuff kicked in quite early for my tastes. Never felt insecure or out of control with the GTI, though.

Since most of the Autobahns I use to get to business appointments are speed-limited anyway, the GTI was kind of overkill and left me with quite a dent in the salary.

The main factor for abandoning the GTI, though, was the ETA display on the Navigation system: for most of my drives, the difference between flooring it and driving civilized was between 2 and 5 minutes, time which would be lost on inner city traffic lights, construction sites, railroad crossings and the like anyway.

It was the DSG model, which was great to drive but caused some kind of "detachment" from the car for a lack of a better word. It shifts perfectly, way better than you would do by manual, so after a few hundred miles, I didn't even touch the paddles anymore and let the DSG work its magic. Downside of that: Interaction with the car while swimming with the trafic was about none, made it boring. Step in, start engine, set NAV, travel from point A to B, repeat for the way back. That can be had with a smaller engine as well.

No need for a "fast" car on a job basis for me. So I went with a Toyota Auris Hybrid for the work-related mileage and got the GT 86 as the pleasure vehicle.

All work, no fun!:
image-13.jpg

The concept of the Auris is the essence of every recent Toyota, aka "Zee car without sex appeal". Dunno about the USA, but Toyota in Germany stands for "the reasonable choice", a brand purely bought out of the head, not with the heart and/or groin. Adding and marketing an "environmentally friendly" motor/drivetrain to that image just fortifies it.

And yes, the Prius hybrid drivetrain is kinda lame; the Auris I picked up friday has basically the same one. Sole reason I got it because it was cheap as dirt (around 16.000EUR with about every extra) and I didn't want to have to set up my phone with two different MM systems ;)

But to be honest, achieving a high mpg can be similar fun as hooning around.

All fun and Serious Business!
The decision for getting a GT 86 was more or less love at first sight when I saw one at an Auto show last summer:
image_zps8413afce.jpg

As you can see, the car is the total opposite of me: low, skinny and naturally aspirated!

Posting pictures of "zee" GT 86 is kind of moot in here, most of you know it already, but still

passed the 400 kilometer mark with both of them last friday.
Auris Hybrid: 40 liter tank still 3/4 full. Driving feels like a FWD Toyota with a CVT gearbox, a bit nervous and light on the steering, just as the one I test drove a couple months ago. ;) steering reminds me of my old 1994 1.4 XLi Corolla.

GT 86: 50 liter tank at going to reserve :D
What a difference. car feels planted and really low, heavy steering, GREAT gearbox, plain fun. Can't wait to kick it up to max RPM in a couple 100 kilometers.

Already got a few overnight parts from Japan:
image-6.jpg

Next delivery contains the TRD carbon strut bar, the TRD/Momo steering wheel and a TRD carbon battery clamp. pics to follow once the stuff is released from customs.

vanity shots (or not)

wtf, somebody actually made a V4? why?

just recently bought a 2013 3 series saloon. Had to sell my Z4 as I was doing 200 mile commutes in it and that just isn't practical on the wallet.

Will try and keep this for a couple of years and then look at the 4 series, providing my kids still fit in the back.

As it is new, I'll keep the '13' plate on it for a while, which means I might want to sell my personal plate. I can put it on the B/S/T thread but thought it might be of interest here. UK plate (might be ok for Europe too) - N30 GAF so spells NEO GAF.

You actually have a GAF plate. A GAF plate. I'd ask how much it cost to begin with, but that'd hurt your chances of a profit I guess.

You bought it with the springs or did you drop it yourself?

Dropped it myself with a buddy - although, this is the first car where the front springs couldn't be compressed enough for the struts so we had to take it to a shop to get the springs on the strut.

When I got it in December, it was bone stock with 40k miles. Since then I've lowered it on Eibach Pro's, tinted the windows, painted the grill and rear chrome spoiler black. I want a pair of intakes and mufflers and of course wheels but I am looking to buy a house.

I have the Scion FR-S in the exact same colour. It's such a beautiful thing and so nice to drive even on city streets.

wtf, somebody actually made a V4? why?

It's much shorter than an I4 so you can pack it in a smaller engine bay. In an FR you can also put it further behind the front wheels improving a small car's balance or you can put in a larger displacement engine than you would an I4 without completely destroying said balance any more than an equivalent smaller displacement I4. It may not seem like a lot today considering the low weight of modern aluminium engines but back when you had iron blocks and iron or even alloy heads it was significant enough to affect the balance of a car. In this particular case it's a tiny car and FF so the V4 would be smaller and more suited to being fit transversely mounted. It's worth noting that Mazda also made a 1.8L V6 to fit transverse mounted into the FF MX-3.
