Is The Social Network going to be R rated? I haven't read the book so how crazy does Zuckerberg get. I really wanted to see Middle Men(men behind selling porn on the internet and start of ecommerce), but seems like it already got eliminated from theaters over here.

I don't know, I had heard the script was pretty R rated, but I wasn't sure how true that was. I would probably expect it, David Fincher's not usually the type that would shy away from portraying lots of "language" and sex in a movie that takes place primarily in College.

I doubt will see a lot of Fight Club style slow-mo sex scenes though. :lol

The trailer totally sold me for this, because even though I love Fincher I wasn't sure this would be an interesting movie. Trailer makes it look incredible.

The newest trailer turned me off of the film but the script has completely sold me. I'm not too sure that Eisenberg or Andrew Garfield fit their respective characters though, or at least they're not who I really imagined when reading the script. Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker seems like it will be perfect though.

Just read the script and I have to say that it was actually pretty damned good. The ending seemed kind of rushed but outside of that, pretty enjoyable. I have to say though, I'm not sure if this film is going to be accessible to casuals.

The first 30 minutes or so if filled to the brim with technological jargon, and if I was a bit confused about it all, I can only imagine how some other people might feel. This is going to be a film that lives or dies by its actors performances. It's extremely dialog heavy and if any of the main characters are off their game, the entire movie is going to suffer.

From what I read in the script, I don't think the advertisements thus far have done the film any justice.
He read the script.

Fincher filmed Social Network with no film, no tape, no hard drive, all memory cards.

SO FUCKING JEALOUS!

If you by any chance bump into Trent or Atticus, hug him for me, will ya?!

I'm not really sold on the movie. I can't get it out of my head that most of the movie is made up, because it is.

So I read the script - knowing that scenes were made up.

It seems like an entertaining movie, if a bit too snide. I dunno if I'll go see it or not.

do you guys only watch documentaries or something
Call me crazy but I expect truth in works of nonfiction (see: Accidental Billionaires).

Creative nonfiction is another genre entirely.

Looks really well made, but I mean... he just redid friendster for the third time after myspace. I remember when Facebook first started, and my thought was "oh cool, it's like Friendster with decent servers, and Myspace without a horrible UI. This is exactly what we've been expecting." It certainly wasn't a groundbreaking idea.
Its not like Friendster was the first of its kind.

Zuckerberg was able to take his "copy" and make turn it into a platform. Just like with Google and search, it would be very difficult to see any serious competitors take over the market that Facebook now dominates. By giving people the ability to upload unlimited pictures, Facebook was able to entrench their users. This was their second great move, the first great move was making it exclusive amount college students to begin with and roll out slowly.

The trailer didn't pull me in, but once I read that Trent Reznor was doing the soundtrack my interest was piqued. I'd probably go see a Barbie movie if Trent was scoring it.

I feel slightly guilty that part of the reason I want to see this movie is that I hate Facebook and Eisenberg/Zuckerberg look so eminently hate-able in that trailer.

:lol Hate to admit it, but I would too.

I don't know which is more odd, this movie or the Billy Beane/Moneyball one. The topics of both just seem too fresh to be told with any kind of perspective.

If it were anyone else but Fincher I could just dismiss it .... Seems like a hard sell to take a wife/girlfriend to.

I didn't even have to sell it to my wife. Though she was one of the first people at my school (Texas) on facebook, that probably has something to do with it.

Luckily, she doesn't really know who Fincher is otherwise she wouldn't be interested.

Eh I don't get the fuzz about it.
Seems like a pretty boring movie, I'll just get the soundtrack separately if it's any good.

Sorkin/Fincher double team and Eisenberg playing the kid you love to hate. What's not to get?

movie is going to massive if it is good.
Really? I don't see that many people giving a care about a movie about Facebook. It's like if they made a movie about the drama behind Gmail. Who would watch that?

This film has me torn between my love for Fincher and Sorkin and my complete apathy towards the subject matter.
.

But cocaine, bare breasts, and Trent all have pushed me towards a yes.

I can't wait for the crow eating across the world on Oct. 1st.

If you're referring to me, that's not really applicable. I believe the combination of Fincher and Sorkin could probably create a film about the migration patterns of bull trout and make something creative and interesting out of it. I just don't care about this particular subject matter (note, apathy doesn't = "hate"), and so I will probably wait for the DVD.

Ya, he's a pioneer in that way... but I'd be more impressed if that weren't going to be fairly commonplace in a few years.

going by the trailer its about young dudes who get SUPER rich and fuck a lot of girls.

All those ads, the trailer, the site.. Everything has a really different tone, that's disturbing.

I'm not really worried about the movie, but it seems Sony doesn't really know how to market it!
