i only like RLM when they're actually reviewing stuff. the serial killer/basement stuff was so unnecessary. i would like a fan edit of those parts edited out, ironically enough.
But the girls are actually involved though. It's not like they're being tweeted at, or being tweeted about. Plus I was talking more about half-in-the-bag, because the review story-lines weren't so great as the series went on.
(Plus, to be fair, she does go back and avenge herself near the end.)

I always found the Oreo Twitter to be really dumb. It's one thing to create a Twitter based on a character (Goddamn Batman, Voldemort, Drunk Hulk, the various Dalek Twitters), but those are actually funny and they can normally speak English. Noah made an account for his dog, and it talks like a baby, and it's not funny.

On RLM: Another issue with this is context. There was another recurring sketch called "Spooning with Spoony" where various people wake up next to Spoony after being raped, all while he conducts a talk show. The deal here is that the people agreed to this sketch (plus, Spoony didn't even write it, the Nostalgia Chick wrote the first one and the Critic wrote the second). What the Twitter issues are is that Spoony acts like a total perv to these women without their consent. So he comes off like a creep and people don't like that.

the sad thing is, there are plenty of similar dog/cat twitter accounts online and the only way i know about them is from people RTing their own pet accounts. thankfully, they've stopped doing so.

Yeah totally. People try this stuff all the time, and I think the reason why people got offended was because text gets lost in translation compared to voiced jokes. It was probably funny in his head, but that's it.

The last thing I want to see is him go back to TGWTG, just from a creative standpoint. I'm hoping that it will cause him to realize what he does well, which is not the typical, structured, boring, "in-character" reviews that the other people do there.
Stuff like Counter Monkey and his VLOGs are still great today, and I'm guessing they give him good revenue. Now that he has no spot on TGWTG, he won't feel like he needs to do reviews to get his spot on there, and get extra hits.
Then again it could go the other way and make him want to work less, which hopefully isn't the case.

The main problem here is, without TGWTG and without these guys forcing him to go out of his brother house and with no free trips to some places and towns, meeting and talking with many "real" people shares his interests and hobbies, and with less money, he might just snap/collapse/breakdown completely and get even worse than this.
Haven't watched one of those movies yet. They seem to just be the worst parts of the reviews of the various people on there.
Yes, that's definitely possible, but hopefully that doesn't happen. Then again, maybe without all those trips being given to him, and his back being pushed against the wall with the lessening of revenue, he will want to work harder and make more videos again. Then again, I don't know what the guy is like, so I can't say.

Why does it being their job absolve them of criticism? Also, they chose to make a living that way instead of getting 'real' jobs; it's not like they were forced into it.

I can't believe how self-indulgent these projects are. None of these people can act and I'd just feel embarrassed attempting to make it through one of these anniversary specials, so thankfully, I don't. It's the people that actually buy this crap that are culpable; you're only enabling them by wasting your money on this nonsense.
Still, sad news about Spoony. Hope he finds the right medication/therapy to return his life to some kind of normalcy. I also he does something about his seemingly terrible diet, a man can't exist on pizza and coke and not expect his looks to fall off a cliff. You'd have to say he was quite a decent looking chap in those earlier videos.

What does that even have to do with anything though? It's not like he's losing viewers or anything, or that his look caused him to lose viewers or his partnership with TGWTG.

When I compare the TGWTG-Movies with some projects by students who choose to do something with film as a major in Germany, it really looks... amateurish.
I would rather see 5 normal moviereviews than this...
And some of the actors were sooo annoying last time. The chubby girl always trying to talk japanese... The horror! Reminded me of someone who is overly obsessed with the country...

I think the main issue is from what I can see TGWTG actively discourages any sort of critique whatsoever. I've never seen a video rank lower than a 4 out of 5 on their review scale and if NC is anything to go off complaints are usually addressed in a tongue-in-cheek video. He's just having a laugh, but making a proper effort to develop thicker skin would probably help encourage some contributors to improve their work.
RLM may look amazing in comparison to them, but if you look at their older stuff from over ten years ago they've definitely come a long way. Hell, even TGWTG's own Cinema Snob (only guy besides Doug's 'regular' movie reviews I can watch and I guess may be taking Spoony's role as one reviewer people regularly tune into to watch) seems to be the only person who doesn't take critique personally and has improved his show from its awkward first year or so. His early stuff is just a NC/AVGN-lite stuff but now even if there's a dud episode he has his own style and much like RLM reviews almost exclusively crazy but still well-researched stuff I've never heard of. Never got the point of wanting to listen to someone rip apart a bad movie or game you already know is bad, unless it doubles as proper film-analysis (Plinket). Really glad he didn't get caught up in this mess.
Incidentally after listening to more of the LordKat stuff I came across his 'I hope Spoony kills himself' rant which bizarrely included a completely inappropriate jab at his brother. Is anybody going to get out of this trainwreck not looking like a complete asshat?

In fairness to them, I would imagine a lot of those student films are shot with much better equipment than what these guys can scrape together. But there is also a reason why any of these people did not continue to do anything professionally in film, if they did attend a film-school like you say, and ended up where they are.

It is not just, that the acting is bad, but, at least at these movies, they did not even put some filters over their footage.
Even if they just use a normal camera, at least in the editing after they shot it, they should think: "Hm. It looks too normal, too amateurish. Better put some filters over it, otherwise it will just looks like a bad movie."

Yeah, that LordKat quote speaks more to his obvious rage issues than anything else. I also think the effect that Spoony and Angry Joe's "unprofessionalism" had on him is grossly over-exaggerated; it would seem they didn't have a problem at this years e3 when it came to interviews. I'd never listened to LordKat's stuff prior to his Spoonywatch 2012 stream and whilst he is an interesting personality, I just can't abide his tendency to go into full on super rage mode.
I've never really watched any of Brad Jone's material, but I get the impression that he's the most well rounded personality within that whole group.

Pretty much wanted to say the SAME exact thing. These guys have made their living making fun of stuff other people have created, yet they create what is arguably some of the worst looking dog shit. That trailer was seriously just faces looking around concerned.
What really genuinely amazes me is that there is a market out there for this shit that actually keeps these people employed to where this sort of thing isn't a hobby, it's a career. That is honestly the thing I just can't wrap my head around.
