The Spoony Experiment

It it weird that I love FFX and like FFXIII but still love his videos?

I think that's sometimes the best way to enjoy his videos.

You're showing that you can laugh at yourself, and that you can appreciate both your own opinion and that of someone else who vehemently disagrees with you. You also learn to appreciate your own emotional, irrational nature (which we all have) when you realize, "Hey, he's right. That's stupid. But I can't help but love it, anyway." (You also learn to appreciate his irrational nature when you think he's funny/entertaining, but also wrong in your opinion.)

I geniunely shuddered at the FFXIII footage, so much time wasted, waiting and hoping that somehow this terrible mess of a story would accidentally start making sense, but, no, the writers doubled down and decided to erect an eternal monument to an imperial epoch of awful, awful writing that will probably never be surpassed by anyone ever. Thus, the FFXIII trilogy was born. I've never been so bored during the final battle and ending of a video game; I just wanted it to be over, so I could move on with my life and just write off those thirty hours as a mild, hallucinatory brain aneurysm. I wonder what Toriyama's 'focus' was during the development of the game, did he have some hazy dream splattered with bits and pieces of incomprehensible plot and dialogue and thought "brilliant I'll make a game out of that." Why didn't he turn into some weird techno zombie when they shipped the game, why does he get to make more terrible video games like The Third Birthday and FFXIII-2?

It's odd watching a Spoony Final Fantasy review where I loathe the game as much as he does. With VIII, X and X-2, I absolutely adored those games, but loved the absurdities pointed out by Spoony. Watching the XIII videos is depressing, because it's almost as if I'm reliving the game again. I'd forgotten so much, only to be reminded and go "yeah, God, it really was that fucking terrible."

That Vampire LARP one is one of my favorites. It sounds so far-fetched at first but then you realize that Spoony would totally do that, or at least he seems like he would.

Thank you! Going to watch this to kill time until the GameInformer reveal in an hour+.

EDIT: Oh shit, no I'm not....I want to see that movie. Bummer.l

yeah agree it's typical Marvel production, fun ride but very stupid and full of plot holes.

I hope Man of Steel is not shallow as all of the Marvel stuff,I like my super hero movie to be smart and got something to tell (Batman Begins/TDK/Watchmen)

MoS seems to take itself very seriously. hopefully it'll live up to the trailer hype.

Wow, this is just....

Er, spoilers, I guess?
So he's basically gone "Fuck it, I quit.". Don't blame him at all, really. Still, wow. So confused, though. Ah well.

I guess this is the last part then :lol.

Seems to me that he is almost rushing this one so he can start the review of XIII-2. I wonder if the difficulties with the script of XIII review have something to do with this or if XIII-2 is just better for review material.

Realising those two last quote are the ones in charge of the Final Fantasy mainline series...FFXIII is a compelling story...

Since he put some piece of music in there that's copyrighted (i guess), germans don't need to bother trying. Yup not working.

"ultrasurf". free tool that lets you watch all teh content on the internet through proxy. just run it and refresh your page and magically the video will ply. I use it all the time for music content on youtube. That said, fuck GEMA.

well if he does a sumary-style of 13-2's story, this will be a one part series. :X
dat non-existent story.

Or get Proxmate for Firefox or Chrome. Since it's a browser plugin it works on OSs that are not Windows as well. http://proxmate.dave.cx/

Pretty good overall.

Generally I don't like rant arguments that apply to anything, though.

"What is the Chrysarium, what does it look like, is it something physical?"

Well ok, what is leveling in D&D? Do your characters know they are level 4? Do they suddenly get to choose which part of themselves improves next, what abilities they suddenly magically have out of nowhere? Is there an in-universe list of feats somewhere that they choose from, that's generally accepted by all peoples as the limits of what adventurers can reasonably learn?

DnD and basic RPG's simply leveled up your parameters and some new skills.

And most cases the stat increases in RPG's are automated. In XIII it makes you sit through it with button presses.

I suppose the game was trying to envision "Fate" in a obscure way. As in you are fated to only do this or that for the duration of the game.

That's what gets me the most. Not only did the admit that they turned the game into a hallway simulator for the sake of their crappy anime melodrama, they're blood proud of it!
