The super duper pre-E3ton Wii / Revolution thread

So at or around the Revolution launch, we'll most likely get new:

Mario
Donkey Kong
Metroid
Zelda

I'm pretty excited, personally. How about you?

Juicy rumorsssss... Bolded the ones that seem to be alright. Got no source though, so take this with a massive heap of salt.
- DS Lite released in Europe June 9 or June 16
- A remake of Soul Blade for the DS
- Soul Calibur 4 annonced for all next-gen consoles
- A remake of Tomb Raider 1 for the DS
- Tomb Raider for Revolution
- NiGHTS into Dreams 2 for Revolution is 65% complete
- Revolution to be released in June in Japan
- Released in America in September and October in Europe
- Ikarus (Kid Ikarus 2) developed by Retro Studios
- Star Fox Lylat Wars for Revolution

- A Japan-only racer
- Fight Night for Revolution uses two Revolution controllers
- Burnout Revenge for Revolution
- A new edition of the musical game ‘Samba de Amigo’ originally sent for Dreamcast. Uses two controllers as drum sticks.
- 35 Development kits have been sent to Take Two/Rockstar London. The game is unknown but it is believed to be a portable GTA for DS.
- Ubisoft has 9 titles in the making. In addition, they confirmed the appearance of Prince Of Persia for Revolution.
- Super Smash Bros Revolution to be subtitled either "Mayhem" ot "Total Chaos"
- Possible new edition of CounterStrike for Revolution
- The aspect of the twilight Princess has changed excessively, and we could be surprised when we see the new images in the E3.
- Pikim 3 is 100% complete
- Midway has three titles on the way. One being"incredible"
- Several Sega System games will be available on the virtual console
- Capcom will have 2 Rev/DS titles on show.
Rest seems slightly unlikely to me.

Here's the source

Bear in mind that last time I posted rumours in a different language, hilarity ensued.

So many of those are absurd that it seems silly to trust even the ones that sound remotely reasonable, since they're probably made up as well.

As for those rumors, in all honesty it wouldn't surprise me if Pikmin 3 WAS 100% complete - or atleast, done and just being tweaked and polished. Pikmin 2 came out in what, 2004? It's 2006 now, that gives them 2 years to make a new one (First one came out 2001/2002, right? And Shiggy has said that it'd take less than a year to make a new Pikmin game in the past, when P2 was scheduled for a year after P1's release).
They'd really just have to upgrade the graphics and add FreeStyle compatability, and they'd be done. Miyamoto has even said several times that the FreeStyle controller is particularly well suited for Pikmin.
If there isn't a Pikmin game at launch, I'd expect to see one within the first few months of the Revolution's life.

Oh, and if the Revolution DID launch in Japan in June and the US in September, it would be my first ever imported system. There's no fucking way I could wait four months to play it. :lol
Honestly, the only reason I don't believe the Revolution will launch before Summer anywhere is because we would have heard about them being manufactured by now. Otherwise I wouldn't be surprised to see it before Fall 2006.

I want Pikmin 3 SO MUCH I can hardly even stand it. If it has the multiplayer from Pikmin 2 playable online, I think I could upgrade its status to most anticipated game for me, bar none. I would buy a Revolution with an online-enabled Pikmin game even if I knew it was the only game coming to the system for the first year.

That N-Sider article is likely made up of Famitsu's report that DK is in development (which I hope is true, but it worries me as they mentioned along with all the other Rev games that were announced, only DK wasn't so maybe they just got confused?) and EAD Ninja's working things out to what's most likely. I hope not, I hope they know something, but I'm not sure they do.

A DK is probably in development somewhere anyway of course, it's a big franchise and hasn't shown up on the DS yet and they're not going to be ignoring it while everything else gets a run out.

Donkey Kong was announced for the RS, as Twilight_Rockstar calls it, at E3 2005. It even was known that it is in development by the DKJB team.

People say that, but I watched the conference live. They at no point mentioned Donkey Kong Revolution. Others say Dragon Quest was alos announced...again, never happened. You look at IGN...so desperate for Rev news, even more so back then...absolutely no mention of a DK for the Revolution until they report on the Famitsu mention of it.

I think he meant more of a "at the show" type of confirmation. Like, somewhere in an interview with someone from Nintendo confirmed a Donkey Kong Revolution game on the show floor. Not at the media briefing.

Dragon quest was announced on Nintendo.com.

I vaguely remember that...wasn't it fake or something?

I was talking about the official press release, which announced Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Donkey Kong.

It didn't really. It said:

"The stars: Introduction of a number of new franchise properties will add to the world’s richest stable of stars, including Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong and Metroid."

Given that DK is one of Nintendo's biggest stars, I'm not surprised they mentioned him. It could indicate a Revolution game, but it certainly doesn't announce it and if they were trying to say there was one coming in the press release, why didn't Iwata mention it when he spoke about the other games in development in his speech? Obviously if we're to take the press release as confirmation of one, they wouldn't be trying to keep it secret and could come out and say it. If on the other hand it wasn't meant to be confirmation of a DK game, then there's no need to mention it.

Like I say, I do think one is coming, I just don't think it's been announced...or at least not at E3. I don't know where Famitsu got it from, did they have a Japanese conference soon after? It could have been mentioned there if so.

I'm not sure where people get this logic, considering the highest selling console this gen is the weakest...

I'm pretty sure the lack of power in the Revolution will scare away gamers. We really care hard about gfx here in america.

Anyway, anyone else scared that there won't be much to pick up at Rev launch? With the shitty graphics of the second Red Steel shots, I'm kinda scared. I don't know.

Exactly. Has the market leader EVER had the best graphics available?

We've seen time and time again that people care more about price and games than graphics. Not that I'm not saying Revolution will have the best selection of games (too early to tell) but it does make me laugh when people say graphics are so important to the casual gamer. :lol The majority probably can't even see a big difference in Dreamcast and Xbox graphics! Only us geeks who post on forums.

You're smoking..

Not to mention that GTA, one of the worst looking games this gen outsold both MGS 2 & 3, Resident Evil 4, and God of War :(

Who knows what the hell casuals are gonna do.

Please let the rumour about rev lylatwars be true. Lylatwars was one of my favourite games of the PSX and N64 gen. I think it could work really well on Revo.

Its not because of casual gamers who you probably think have no clue about videogames that made GTA sell really well, but its because its an AAA title. GTA is an excellent game. Before it was released, there was no other game like it. GTA offers so much freedom to the player and thats one of the main reasons why its so popular. You dont have any rules or boundries, you could basically do what the hell you wanted.

Right and it was because of the brilliant gameplay. The other huge seller is of course Pokemon which also has poor graphics compared to other games on GB and GBA.

It's the hardcore geeks who care so much about graphics, not the mainstream.

You'd have to be standing for a baseball one. Frankly, I think any sports game required to throw or swing something would get old real fast.
Yeah, actually standing and acting like you're batting or something would get old. But something similar could be done on a minor scale; move the revmote a slight amount, and it determines how high and out you swing, and with what strength. Keep it sideways to bunt. Whatever.

I think the better example would be GBA.

What, you don't like GTA because its not graphically up to par with those other games? GTA's success has nothing to do with its graphical prowess, it has everything to do with its design. Besides, there's no comparison graphically to begin with. The world in a GTA game is HUGE compared to most games, and especially compared to the games you mentioned when you consider that you are always able to visit almost any part of it at almost any time. Graphical fidelity is going to take a hit when you're working with those kinds of environments, but it's more than worth it in providing the kind of world GTA does.

Because the quality of screenshots 8 months before the games release are always exactly the same as the final product. :lol

I haven't heard about a new batch of shots. Where did they come from?

Edit- Nevermind, I thought that shots outside of the ones in Game Informe had been released.

GTA is an excellent game.

I hated it. It's boring as hell to play, the camera sucks, the framerate sucks, the controls suck. The idea is commendable, but I have yet to play a game in this genre that I thought was fun or that matched the enormous-fun-potential of the idea.

My friends didn't buy it for any of the reasons you stated. They bought it because everyone was talking about it, and because you could just destroy and kill in the game. Not a single PS2-owning friend of mine has really properly played the game, preferring to use the weapons cheats and have a 5 minute destruction-fest before the army kills you. Now a game like PES is a different story.

well, you´re right but the GB brand is "taking a break" right now :)

EDIT: and for the first time in a while, Nintendo has some ______ competition in the handheld area. so yeah, that´s why i said DS.

Can I make up a rumor I hope to come true as well?

- Rez and Space Channel 5 coming to Revolution. :D

Well I can dream right?

Samba de Amigo would be awesome though. :D
