Does someone have handy all the summer Famitsu/IGN/EGM/GI etc rumors?

We can post them all here and see what the most reliable source is... and mock the rest!

No rumors or speculation from me.

I'll just state this: Nintendo gained an enormous amount of positive buzz and hype following E3, and this IS the opportunity to, prior to the launch, show everyone that, A) Nintendo is continuing to increase its commitment and software support for the Wii, and B) that they've built upon the buzz/hype and the potential support it's brought to the table.

That is all, obviously, in addition to laying all the table -- price, launch titles, release date, etc.

I have very high expectations for what they need to accomplish at this event in order to consider it successful. It's going to be a flop, quickly deflating a lot of the post E3 enthusiasm and quickly overshadowed by whatever Sony offers at TGS, if they don't unveil a lot new software -- both first party as well as lots of new third party stuff (and I mean some pretty major third party stuff needs to be either unveiled or at least announced here). If Nintendo rehashes the same stuff from E3 and LGC with only a few minor additions, if Nintendo does not demonstrate that they've turned glowing publisher and consumer response at E3 into tangible results in the form of serious new third party software commitments... this will not have been a success, so far as I'm concerned.

So the bar's set high here. They need to eclipse their previous showings, if they intend to further build upon the enthusiasm and then segue that into a stronger system launch.

Agree the E3 was just the "build-up", this needs to be the real thing, Fzero Wii, Mariokart, Resident Evil, FF, DQ swords, you name it. We've seen the launch offerings now Nintendo must show us what lies ahead in 2007.

- Release Date (Rumored to be between October 2nd and November 19.. November 2 seems to be a pretty popular date. It is NOT coming out in September, repeat that with me)

Why is November 2nd a popular date for a possible Wii release? It's November 9th (10th in Europe) according to hints from Nintendo.

Sony and Microsoft have shown that gaming really does need saving. 600 dollars? 400 dollars? Blu-Ray? I just want to play some ****ing awesome games, dudes.

Do it, Nintendo!!

Most importantly we'll have a Zelda release date. Finally!
Plus I hope we get some new Zelda media/impressions.

I think you guys are already getting way overhyped on this. I expect release dates and pricing, and new info on some new games, but Kid Icarus? Oh, I wish... I mean it's possible I guess but I have my doubts =(

i've got this crazy thing. it's called work. Sometimes I have to go. I'm already taking 2 days off this month for TGS.

Some credible people are under the impression that a lot of games will be announced. Don't expect 20 trailers, but alot of announcements.

We will see. I just want some hot Capcom love.

It's not that I'm getting overhyped...

I don't really have any idea what's going to be unveiled here. I'm just laying out what Nintendo NEEDS to do for me to consider this a successful event -- and that absolutely includes lots of serious, major software announcements (first party, yes, but even more so third party because they HAVE to show that they've transformed that buzz into tangible results from others). They have to pull off a better event than E3. That's not hyping the event -- that's laying the goalpost for how we determine whether or not it was successful, whether it's meeting its goals (building upon enthusiasm in order to position the console for an even stronger launch), whether this shows the still-skeptical that the system is going to have the games to make it worthwhile, etc.

Yup, announcements are fine. As long as they're laying out in concrete form that the positive press, analyst support, public enthusiasm, and good buzz from developers/publishers has tangibly transformed into the most important thing (software). Announcements still lay out where third parties are going to be going on the system. That's fine. As long as we're learning of a lot of serious, worthwhile projects in development on the system.

If I get Wii pricing and release, new Zelda stuff, and new media on games already shown and a couple of new games (both DS and Wii alike), then I'll be happy.

It's not that I'm getting overhyped...

I'm totally with you. I anticipate the Wii far more than any other console. I hope the event delivers. I just don't expect things like Kid Icarus or Mario Kart or Punch-Out... yet.

Hopefully we'll see how the games announced at E3 have progressed, I really want to see some new footage of Project H.A.M.M.E.R and Day of Disaster or whatever that game was with the huge flood.

Prediction game. What will be your reaction after the conference? Pick your number:

10 - WOW. How could Nintendo keep this secret for so long? I need a Wii. Now. 0_0

9 - The 150$ price surprised me, I may buy one.
...
7 - We didn't learn anything new, still the Wii looks cool. I'll buy one when it's down at 150$
...
5 - Meh, it's a party game console.
...
3 - Lol it's just for kids.
...
1 - LOL IT'S JUST FOR KIDS.

I put November 19 as a "safe" date (as in, it won't possibly come out later than that).

November 2 has come from a number of different sources (matt, a gamespot release list (was listed as Nov 1 there) and a UBIsoft contact). UBIsoft is planing their games (as of information given two weeks ago) for Nov 2nd. Considering those are supposed to be launch titles, it would be a safe bet. There is the possibility that they'll ship the games out before the console launches (this isn't a new thing).

Erm you don't leave much scope do you?

They´ll announce release date and price, everything else would be bonus-information. Dont expect more than that, and perhaps you´ll be positively surprised.

They'll lay down the facts on launch, price, gui, other factual details. I think some of you are miscalculating the nature of this event.. It's about facts, not show, I think. We'll see a new game or two, but don't expect e3-ish flood of news. This is an informative press conference.

No it isn't. It's a 6 hour event with playable games. I think some people are expecting too much but it's still a playable games event. We'll get new footage at least. If that's all they were going to do, it would be 1 event for 1 hour. Not 3 x 6hrs.

It's not a matter of "expecting."

It's a matter of... they need to release more than that, because skating through this on the bare minimum (launch details/price) would be unacceptable and send a sign that they haven't progressed beyond E3 at all and that third party support, while still marginally better than the GameCube's, just isn't going to get any better than it is right now. In short, the event will have failed (particularly given how exceptionally strong Sony is likely to be at TGS).

This is Nintendo's last opportunity to put a positive foot forward before they launch, and the last opportunity to take the post-E3 hype and increase it even further. They need to deliver.

Why anyone would say that this is an acceptable result puzzles me. Minimum standards here, people.

i dont see why they would announce anything game wise with TGS so close.

this by all accounts should be release date and price and some of the execs get to play some wii.

i seriously doubt any game information would be released just leave it til TGS.

Because duurrrr uhhh Nintendo's not going to be at TGS.

And it's in their best interests to have new third party announcements at this Wii-centric event rather than at TGS where they'd get overshadowed.

They're not going to be at TGS that's why.

WE WANT NAMES

Ok, this can be expected for sure:

- Kid Icarus-trailer
- Zelda-trailer (not Twilight Princess, but Miyamoto´s "new kind of Zelda")
- Mario Kart-trailer
- Pikmin 3-trailer
- Disaster: Day of Crisis-trailer

And finally:

Wiisor revealed, being sold for 199$, not necessarily needed, but giving hardcore-gamers the ultimate experience. Also, the Wiisor will make the Wii portable, as no TV is needed, when playing with it.

IS THIS BETTER TO EXPECT???? :P

Apart from date and price, i'm not expecting too much.

They're saving Super Paper Mario and presumably Donkey Kong Bongo Blast announcements for this thing, so i doubt we'll see more heavy hitting games so soon - i could buy the idea of Wii Aerobics making a show though as that seems like a good idea to launch with. And like a few i'm half expecting Prime 3 to be delayed now that SPM seems a likely launch title.

But if we're talking wishlists - F-Zero and Wave Race please!

If you bitches don't stop making me think there's a possibility of Icarus on Wii at this event... well okay I can't do anything about that but it's not nice. =(

OH GOSH YOU'RE RIGHT

All Nintendo has to do is say the price and date and this will have been a SMASHING success, one for the record books. We really can't hold them to any higher standards than that -- what are we, nuts for thinking about saying "You had a successful event but now the bar is raised and you need to do more and show more to continue having what can be called successful events."

Yeah, price and date, that's it. It'll be fine -- we can just write it off as having less than a dozen visible Nintendo games and marginally above GameCube third party support. No reason to expect any more of them than that.

I wonder...maybe the new Zelda is from the perspective of Princess Zelda. They already made her more of an action character in Windwaker and I think that would be a cool plot twist for Zelda to have to rescue Link this time

TOSE is already working on that for the DS.
