Just trying to see how badly you react to the increasing prices. Ya' know, jinx and all...

299$ - Rape time!
249$ - Expensive and stupid, unless they compensate it somehow via bundle
199$ - Expected and fair
175$ - cheap and nice
150$- OMFG
< 150$ -bwahahahaha

The setup I believe will happen (and would be mostly happy with, minus the online part):

Wii

- $199.99
- 1 free VC download
- WiiConnect24 launch in early 2007
- 1 nunchuck controller
- documentation/etc

I don't understand this sentiment (not calling you out specifically Amir0x). VC is entirely dependent on WiiConnect24... how else are you going to download the games?

This is a nice, safe prediction. I'd be satisfied as well.

But I want Tetris Attack.

Well, I guess to be clear i should say... they will have their download service ready at launch, but the playing online games/etc aspect and the 'innovative' part of having a console on 24 hours a day will come into play in 2007 when they release an update.

That makes more sense. The way everyone was wording had my scratching my head. WiiConnect24 has to be implemented in some form at launch. Otherwise...

I bet the price is the punch in the gut that che hinted about.

$399
1 Remote
No online/VC until late 2007
One or two new titles that might bring in non-gamers

It wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo had nothing to do with online for the first 6 months, VC and all :(

Ack! I'd never even considered it.... and it's totally going to happen, isn't it? :(

I forgot, Nintendo always sticks to their promises......

Their emus are already up and running at E3. Nintendo doesn't want to not make money, do they? They planned to use VC as a way to pad the release schedule, anyway...

they are going to put a lot of emphasis on Wiiconnect24 so I expect that to be ready at launch.

True, but a new Mario/SSB at launch would make them money and we know that's not gonna happen.

See my post above. They've already confirmed VC downloads at launch (probably a very limited selection though).
I've got my fingers crossed, but man I'm going to on pins and needles until I'm actually in the act of downloading Bonk on my Wii. Thanks for the upcoming 2 months of sleepless nights Dragona. :(

It really should only be two sleepless nights...

Two months? One way or another, I'm sure it'll be confirmed this week.

Just my thoughts on the VC. Seems likely when implimented that downloading an n64 games will cost more than downloading a nes game (at least the majority of them). Lots of people (myself included) seem to think a VC download will come with the Wii. I just don't think it will be the ability to D/L any game you want. Probly some kind of point System. ex: nes 10 pts, snes 15 pts, n64 20 pts. They maybe they'd give you 15 points at the start to download VC games. Not a great example but I thought it was more likely you could get a free nes/snes game at launch on the VC, or you could buy just a few more points and grab mario 64.

:lol at the $600 photoshops.

i would LOVE a $250 price. i would just LOVE it!!! :lol GAF reaction would be priceless hahaha.

I'd love to get some "free" VC games when I buy the classic controller. I expect to buy four eventually, so that would be super swell...as long as it doesn't jack up the price.

List the known 3rd-party games already announced which will ONLY be playable with the classic-controller please. I can't think of a single-one.

Wasnt there tha Rampage-game?
Also, what about the virtual console-service? Nintendo wants to make quick money with it, but their new targeted audience of non-gamers wont buy an extra controller for that purpose.
Nah, classic controllers comes with launch-package, so that you can start the console, browse the virtual console cataloge and download a game in seconds.

My prediction is $250 with a nunchuck, a wiimote, no Wiiconnect which means no VC, MP3 delayed and SMG at launch!

Edit: and Sonic and Megaman in SSBB :O

Preditcion timez!! (all prices US dollars)

Nov 5th US launch for $199 in black or white includes:
1 wiimote/nunchuck
stand
composite cables (component are sold for 50 separately)
demo disc
coupon for one NES VC download

Extra wiimote/chuck controllers $40 and classic controller is $30 (any other add-on is 20-30)

WiiConnect24 up from day one, but no multiplayer supported games until next spring.

30-50 VC games on day one, pricing as follows-

0.99-1.99 for NES games
4.99-6.99 for SNES/TG16/Genesis games
9.99-11.99 for N64 games
4.99-11.99 for any NEW VC games

Monthly or quarterly updates to the VC catalogue.

Zelda at launch, Metroid pushed to Q1 2007, Mario Q2, Smash Bros summer/fall.

Game prices 30-50 (Wii Sports = 30, Zelda & Metroid = 50) some games may come with coupons for free VC downloads

I wonder if they'll even bother with a Wii promo thingy? Like the GC one that was that flat console top look-a-like that came with a trailers disc.

I was shocked at the size of both the disc and the console.

This is maybe even better than E3! As we know it's all got to come out of the bag now, which guarantees maximum GAFness ...

Atleast there's the Apple thing tmrw to help pass the time.

I'm not sure there's been one game announced yet that will only be controllable on the classic or Gamecube controller. Not even Smash Bros. They just said at the time that you would be able to use your cube controller as well.

Since we don't have any news to talk about, let me toss this one out there to you guys who remember stuff like this:

Has Nintendo ever had a problem with system malfunctions like we've seen for Sony and Microsoft? Off the top of my head I can't remember anything like that personally, but back with the NES, SNES, N64, and the handhelds I never heard any talk about it from people I knew, and since I've been on the net, I don't remember hearing anything about the DS or GC either. The only thing that comes to mind is the NES and the problem it was getting some games to load as time went by, but that wasn't a problem with the system really.

Demo disc?

It would make more sense to if consumers could download whichever demos Nintendo offers as opposed to packing an extra disc. Wouldn't it?

Famicom had a bad run at first, with defective chips. That's it, unless you consider the NES hinge thingie. Which can be easily corrected by yourself.

Not that I know of. In general, Nintendo's hardware is absurdly dependable.
