Dana must be pissed his PPV fighters don't bring these kind of fights. This entire card was very good.

diego fought stupid at the end of round 1. why the hell did he take him down at the end? he could of stood up and tried to finish guida. after all guida was hurt and diego could of ended it with a few more good punches. all diego did was let guida recover.

Diego won the 3rd round.
Not only that but Diego's first round could have (should have) been a 10-8. He couldn't have dominated more without knocking Guida out - which I thought he did with that vicious leg kick. Props to him for keeping going though.

a few thoughts:

-Stevenson looked awesome tonight. Where has this guy been hiding that stuff for so long? Just a really strong technical fight... I don't think he lost a single round.

-Chris Lytle is worthless. All he does is stand up and he can't even do that correctly. If he set up any type of offensive gameplan, or even a combo, that fight would have ended with him getting a KO in the 2nd. but all he did was throw a haymaker and then wait for the guy to hit back. wtf. worthless.

-Sanchez looked pretty good. Guida looked tough as nails. Thought he'd go OUT on that kick that connected to his temple :lol

-James looked AWESOME in winning that TUF title/contract. what a tutorial he put on in BJJ. wow. that rear naked choke being locked in while he used his leg to lock down Marques' arm was awesome. also had 2 or 3 other moments where he could have snapped a limb. just an incredible display by him

Chris Lytle just like to brawl? Really? You're only about 2 years late with that revelation Nostradamus.

wow great card tonight.

Glad to see Joe Daddy back to his wrestling game, now if someone can send sean sherk the memo everything will be good.

impressive performances by the brits props to them, Damarques got fuckin tooled against Wilks.

Lytle brought it again like he always does, always an exciting fight, much respect to both fighters.

Props also given to Diego, I'm a die hard Guida fan and both of those guys fucking brought it tonight and to everything from the weigh ins, to the walk outs to the stare down lol.

definite FOTY candidate right there.

great night of fights :D

Just watched, awesome awesome stuff, the guys from TUF i expected to win won which is good. I knew Wilks would have won but damn, that was a convincing ass win DeMarques got fucked up big time.

Indeed, the stare down was amazing. Diego was the shit though, title shot incoming!

Johnson got completely worked. After that Nick fight, I was thinking, he's not that great... But maybe it was just an off time. Then this happens. Bisping would kill him lol.

Win or lose, Guida will always be booked fights in the UFC after last night. Shit was crazy.
guida is pretty damn boring. the only exciting thing about him is that he is willing to get an ass whooping sometimes. he is a lnp fighter most of the time.

He's the "Energizer Blanket". He's constantly active, pinning his opponent down and throwing little slappy fists. But he rarely goes for the knockout blow or submission unless it's blatantly there. That said, I generally enjoy his fights, provided he's fighting a guy that doesn't wilt from the pressure (Mac Danzig, I'm looking at you).

How can anyone say Clay Guida is boring?! Every time he fights, he gets the crowd into and it is always a contender for Fight of The Night! I could watch Diego and Guida fight 100 times.

Guida definitely needs to add to his game..

Lay and pray isn't enough

Can't believe he survived the first round though..

man fuck gaf, I just lost a 100 word post due to server error :(

cliff notes: guida is great, lnp is not. If you take the first round out, it was your average MMA fight. Guida got hurt bad 1st round and amazingly survived (guy is tough). 2nd round he immediately took diego down and lnp'd for the free round win. 3rd round, typical conservative striker vs grappler feel. Diego throwing short combos to avoid the takedown.

Weird calling Diego the "striker" but clearly that was his gameplan for this fight.

The fights need stood up quicker or penalty threats ala pride. Guida wasn't working for subs or really doing any damage most of that time. As a solid wrestler/bjj guy its just too easy to lay in someones guard/half-guard endlessly without threat. Elbows are likely a part of it, you don't need full extension to rock somebody a bit. They just need to stand up way way quicker for someone not working a submission or really doing anymore damage.

finally watched this, great fights all around! cheers for demarcus getting his shit pushed in and ross winning it. guida sanchez was a war and i'd love to see a rematch (by the way, i scored it a draw or 29-28 guida).

How in the world did you manage to come to that conclusion?

the fight i saw had diego winning the first (by a large margin) and clay controlling the next two.

and fuck off with your smug asshole attitude. i'm not the only one who saw it that way

well 1 of the 3 judges cageside scored the fight 29-28 guida, so does him scoring the fight the same way really surprise you?

the first round of the main event was insane. from the stare down to what could be the wildest fury in the ufc in the last 3 yrs, freakin nuts. guida wouldn't go down and sanchez didn't even look winded. these two guys are maniacs and as someone else mentioned i could watch these guys fight 100 times.

vitro was a monster back in the days, but i havnt seen him in along time so....is he still as good as before???

he's looked pretty good since dropping to MW. He beat the shit out of Terry Martin in his first fight then KTFO of Matt Lindland in his second fight.

His next fight is August 1st against Jorge Santiago who has gone 9-0 since getting cut from the UFC. At least 6 of those wins are against ex-UFC fighters.

Just watched the prelims.

Sooooooooo frustrating watching Cameron beat the shit out of Dent for 4 and half minutes only to stick his head right into a choke at the end. Other than the result though I was pretty much right about these two. Cameron looked much better and Dent still looked, fat, slow, weak, and pillowfisted. It was a nice sub though which is how he gets most of his wins.

Blackburns fight looked just like his fight with Chonan. He barely edged out the first two rounds then got his ass kicked in the 3rd round.

Drwal showed some nice striking and had a few good takedowns. Thomasz's strategy seemed to involve taking Mike C down over and over then let him up just to punish him with strikes as he was standing up.

Melvin/Tibau was kind of boring. Both were tentative to strike and Tibau couldnt keep Melvin on the ground for more than about 10 seconds at a time.
