Robert Kirkman is an evil bastard.
I actually felt physically sick reading this (in a good way!). Don't remember an issue hitting me as hard since the final prison arc.
I was talking about this with a friend of mine. Since comics are so decompressed now, and overall I enjoy that, they aren't much fun month to month anymore. I just caught up on the last three issues myself andGryphter said:Being caught up sucks. Issues come out once a month and to be honest, they're pretty short. Look at it this way, if you hold off for an ENTIRE YEAR, you still only have 12 new issues which can be finished easy in a single sitting. I guess this goes for every comic book, though

Rick finally realized that people are important and him and Michonne manage to inspire everyone else hiding in their houses to fight back. And they killed all the zombies and Carl lived...yeah, this was a little too happy for me.

Has the release been more steady pace the past few months or are there still long hiatus in between?
Ya, it's all in b&w as far as I know.MidnightRider said:EDIT*** Are all of the comics in black and white or is it just the book?
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is allegedly considering writing a prequel to the Image Comics series.
The scribe is planning a Volume Zero of the zombie title, revealing the origin of the plague and providing background information on the characters, TV Guide reports.
Full plot details were not revealed, though the prequel is said to reveal how the characters Shane and Lori went from "grieving friends to lovers". AMC's Walking Dead television adaptation will also address the matter with a flashback episode in its upcoming second season.
Walking Dead was first published by Image in 2003. It was co-created by Kirkman and artist Tony Moore, who was replaced as interior illustrator by Charlie Adlard from issue #7 onwards.
The television adaptation debuted on October 31, 2010. The second season airs later this year on AMC in the US and FX in the UK.
A potential released date for The Walking Dead Volume Zero is yet to be announced.
Davedough said:Ok, so I'm a latecomer to this series. I started watching the AMC TV show earlier in the year when it hit Blu Ray and really enjoyed it. I'm not a comic person at all. I've read about 200 issues of Hellblazer in the past and that is the end of my comic book experience. I normally read novels, but I decided to buy the Compendium and subsequent single issues up to the current one.
I'm not completely caught up. I'm only at the partwhere Rick and company first get interviewed by the Congressman to become a part of the community.
I guess I'm just too ignorant to comics in general, but I really don't see the gripes that people have after reading this thread. Sure, the dialog can be overdone, campy and verbose at times, but I appreciate that since the art leaves a bit to be desired. I do, however, agree that its incredibly difficult to tell characters apart. There have been times when it would show Dale and I'm wondering, "why the hell would Rick say something like that?" Only to find out that I was thinking of the wrong character. I'm actually kind of relieved that there arebecause I can now completely differentiate between Andrea, Maggie, Michonne and whoever that chick that Abraham is with's name is, instead of how it was earlier in the series.less women in the story
The one extremely positive thing I can think of about the series is the development of Rick. We've watched him go fromI really feel for him as a character and that's the sign of a really well fleshed out protagonist.simple down home cop who loves his family, to raging lunatic, to a sullen husk of a man and into a man just trying to hold it together while showing massive signs of going completely crazy.
All that being said, I'm thoroughly addicted to the series. I've been blasting through issues any chance I get. I'm afraid that I'll be caught up too quickly and then I'll be stuck waiting just like everyone else.
I've come to the realization that I'm going to have to accept the TV show as its own entity. There is NO way AMC is going to allow such strong subject matter on basic cable. Its a damn shame because I feel that this story has huge emotional impact on the audience.. at least it has for me.

shagg_187 said:They better release Compendium Two soon... I'm waiting on it!
Davedough said:Its hard to say what direction they'll take in Season 2, but with as graphic and controversial some of the scenes in the comic can be, there's no way US censors will allow that to be televised.
Vlad said:Actually, as far as I understand it, censors have nothing to do with it when it comes to the cable channels. it's much more up to the networks and how they handle content. AMC tends to be pretty lenient when it comes to the gore (I can think of at least three rather gruesome moments from Breaking Bad off the top of my head) compared to, say, USA or TNT. So, while we probably won't have HBO-levels of gore, they should be able to get away with at least some of the comic's material, though.
Of course, with how AMC's been acting recently, who knows which way they're going to jump.
purnoman3000 said:It won't be for at least another year. Compendium Two would contain up to issue 96 and they're only at 88 this month.
Davedough said:Fair points, but I just cant see the events that begin to constantly happen after meeting The Governor being portrayed on television.Especially what happens between him and Michonne
Vlad said:Does that stuff need to be spoilered in this thread? I figured it was like TV shows: once the comic comes anything in it is fair game to be discussed untagged.
In any case, I'll play it safe:The way I figure it, his assault on Michonne could happen much like it did in the comic. It'd be pretty much entirely offscreen, with Glen hearing the sounds through the walls. That'd be pretty damn effective, actually.
As far as Michonne's payback, they could leave out the actual mutilation, but then leave in the scene with the Governor's goons finding him. Their comments should be enough to convey what was done to him.
Davedough said:So everywhere that I've read says that issue 89 was supposed to drop yesterday, but the few places I have around me that carry comics dont have it in stock. Was there a push back on the release of the latest issue?
vitaminwateryum said:Looking around, it seems like there was. This site has the release date as Oct. 5, but the Image Comics site has it for September 28th.

Yup.Moofers said:Anyone else kind of disappointed with where the comic is at right now? Ever since "No Way Out" ended, its just hit a wall for me. Starting to feel like its "been there, done that" territory.

Rick and Andrea?!? Has there ever been any sexual tension or so between them?! Also, hasn't like a week passed since Rick had to chop off Jesse's hand? Doesn't seem right for him to jump into yet another fling right now. But he's going batshit insane though, so who knows.
