The War On Men (Fox News)

Fortunately, there is good news: women have the power to turn everything around. All they have to do is surrender to their nature – their femininity – and let men surrender to theirs.

If they do, marriageable men will come out of the woodwork.

...priceless.

It's funny though I was talking to a girl at the weekend who was saying the same thing about how women are now expected to be housewives and career women at the same time. Don't think my response of "good job you're well equipped for multitasking" went down too well.

There might be some nugget that is genuinely worth talking about here but since it's Fox news the whole debate is now poison.

What exactly did you expect?
While it might be true that in some cases women have the upper hand (children custody, etc),
most of the time it's skewed so heavily on the other side it's not even funny.
To argue that there's a war on men on the same channel that's basically advocating stuffs that could really without any stretch being called a war on women...
I mean seriously we're talking about people who want to have control over the reproductive organs of the female population.
There's a reason they're no taken seriously.

This sounds so creepy. Who's to say how women or men should act? The reason there's friction between sexes is because a lot of retards can't accept change not because there's an active effort to disenfranchise men. And it's going to keep evolving once people realize sexuality isn't as black and white as they'd like to think it is.

Maybe people don't want to get married anymore because they realize it's an irritating pointless scam shoved down people's throats all the time as some mandatory right of passage. People get sick of living in the same house with the same person all the time. They see every married couple around them looks miserable and decide they don't want that.

There was another article on the telegraph that made a point that was more interesting. Saying that the top down societal goal of breaking down gender roles has left people clinging to the roles they have left which are that of fucking and sexual attraction. They said that rape statistics are worse if not any better in nordic countries that have done the most to remove these traditional identities. But you could also look to women who only look at their husbands as sex toys who need to be replaced if they are no longer exciting enough.

For some men, women—especially feminists—are terrifying. Not in the normal oh-my-God-I-can’t-ask-her-out-what-if-she-says-no way that middle schoolers and characters on Friends experience, but “afraid” in the sense that women will take their money, try to get pregnant on purpose, invent false rape claims, and use feminism to generally abuse men. In this narrative, men are either an oppressed minority (or about to become one), or have to “fight back” against feminists to preserve their rights.

Clocked.

A thread about that would be absolutely better.
That is really worthy of discussion.
Can we make a new thread about this, this one is too poluted by FoxNews anyway.

This is all true. Women are not women anymore. They have options. They don't have to be dependents anymore.
Fox is rehashing the same shit that was said in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s.

Another thing to note. It's hard to blame men for collectively spurning marriage given the nature of divorce law in the U.S. How much negative reinforcement do males need to be convinced of the acrimony and potential financial calamity involved in exchanging vows with the other gender? If we're genuinely interested in unearthing the roots behind the sudden shift away from marriage, it's critical to thoroughly analyze the adverse incentives that our legal system - which is ostensibly skewed in favor of females in the realm of divorce - has imposed.
On the other hand, the institution of marriage for a long time basically left women without means of supporting themselves after a divorce, because they were expected to either dont work at all and be a mother/housewife, or only have a parttime job which had no career prospects at all and did not earn enough to support one person. So having the man have to pay more in case of a divorce makes sense, as it gives the woman some financial basis to build a new life on.

Often joking about not being able to 'cook' or do anything redeeming I suppose.

Most of these bozo's never realized that happiness was right in front of them, they just had to put the act away and be normal, be themselves.

Ultimately I don't think there is one single problem at hand, but I do think that modern society has confused many young adults into thinking that maybe, just maybe they are supposed to be something different that what might just come natural.

Why are people so hellbent on trying to outwit their animal instincts?

You heard it here first. Women have a natural instinct to cook and clean. The ones that can't cook are just being defiant or resisting their natural and comfortable destiny. The ability to effectively use AJAX was forged in the loins of genetic destiny millions of years ago.

Anecdotal story here. So I've never married (i'm 30), but alot of my close friends have/had. Outta 6 of my buddies who got hitched, two are still together (both controlled by their wives, these guys are complete pussies, i've told them on several occasions) the other four are divorced. Their marriages lasted 2-5years.

The four marriages that ended, were brought upon by their wives (i saw a statistic once that said 70% of divorces are initiated by the women, i'll have to check it out again) One pal was cheated on, tried to make it work, she decided to go with the bad boy drummer in a band (im serious) another got bored or something, another wasn't happy (like anyone thinks marriage is an 100% happy all the time zone) and another just took off to like another city, no explanation (she was always alittle sketchy) Anyways all my buddies are good men, good fathers (3 have kids), stable jobs, loyal, honest. And got absolutely destroyed in marriage/divorce, financially, emotionally, hell even physically. Anyways their wives found other men relatively quickly or already had somebody (why does it seem women always have someone lined up right after a dumping? anyone?) From what i have seen women have alot of power in relationships today, more than men (other areas they are still behind jobs, wages etc..)

I guess the point to the story is, is that going back to the old ways where the man could fuck, cheat, do whatever hell he wants is not a solution, but in modern times it seems to me that women have the upper hand in relationships. Basically we've gone from one gender fuckin shit up, to both genders fucking everything up.

Moral of the story.. Never get married

Is that a fact?

Fact? Only from what i can see from the relationships around me. Unless i'm in some kind of vortex there must be some truth to it. Actually my friends that are still married have no spine, while the ones that divorced are redeveloping thiers.. marriage/relationships/love have a way of making some men... wimps/controlled/yes men whatever.

Spineless people are spineless regardless of marriage or genitals

I've seen far more hate on men than on women if that counts for anything.

I do truly believe a lot of men feel pissed that no matter who they are, they are still perceived by many as wrong.

Although I wouldn't call it ordinary.

Yeah, that's why I don't have a girlfriend.

Sounds like you had a group of sheltered nerds or something because everything from my life has been the exact opposite.

This is exactly why it's not a good idea to rely on anecdotal evidence, my friends are in the complete opposite situation.

Oh come on. Women wearing the pants in a relationship isn't some new and rare occurrence. Being pussy whipped in a marriage is as old as time itself.

Thought this would at least be about pedophile accusations, but this is ridiculous. They're basically crying about women not staying in the kitchen.

lol because we should only be looking for sex with a husband. Fuck right off lady.

If old lol on me.

All those decades. Gosh.
Both of you sound angry and/or defensive. Fox News and it's fair and balanced contributors know you better than you know yourselves.

Checkmate, women-folk.

There's really nothing I can add to the general conversation about this article. I honestly didn't agree with almost anything in that article (the poll results in the beginning may be correct but her interpretation is . . . off) but I was especially incensed by the following segments.

Tired of being told there’s something fundamentally wrong with them. Tired of being told that if women aren’t happy, it’s men’s fault.

Contrary to what feminists like Hanna Rosin, author of The End of Men, say, the so-called rise of women has not threatened men. It has pissed them off. It has also undermined their ability to become self-sufficient in the hopes of someday supporting a family. Men want to love women, not compete with them. They want to provide for and protect their families – it’s in their DNA. But modern women won’t let them. It’s all so unfortunate – for women, not men. Feminism serves men very well: they can have sex at hello and even live with their girlfriends with no responsibilities whatsoever.

It’s the women who lose. Not only are they saddled with the consequences of sex, by dismissing male nature they’re forever seeking a balanced life. The fact is, women need men’s linear career goals – they need men to pick up the slack at the office – in order to live the balanced life they seek.

I actually got really angry reading that. Wow.

yeah,.. it's always hard know to what people consider a spineless whimp.
In many cases it turns out it's just an emancipated man who takes responsibility as a member of his family.

Not that i haven't seen spineless men. But they were spineless before their marriage. Nobody was there to point it out though.

Even though the article is pretty stupid written by a terrible outlet, I do think we're facing some serious challenges in terms of gender roles.

I think it's an amazing wonderful thing that anybody can do what they want, or at least I hope they can, regardless of our gender, this is my hope in this world that people are treated fairly no matter what.

But certain traditional gender roles have become considered so antiquated and unfashionable or even offensive that I worry that people are scared to actually embrace roles that were actually traditional but also have some merit. I see a lot of men scared to show any kind of assertiveness or leadership, so many are timid and scared socially, they are intimidated by women, and are scared that any approach might be construed as sexual misconduct. Boys are increasingly taught in schools by woman and have few men to look up to as real role models We've been told all these years to respect women, but I sometimes wonder if woman are taught the same thing about men. This isn't mentioning certain laws (including reduced sentences) and custody laws which clearly favour women as well as suicide rates for men which are lopsided.

No doubt women have a great deal of problems to deal with in this world, but I do often feel like men's issues have been swept under the carpet, and there's also a real stigma about discussing them as well, the word misogyny (a label that often tends to stick) flies around way too flippantly these days when a lot of us really just want an open discussion.

Phyllis "By getting married, the woman has consented to sex, and I don't think you can call it rape" Schlafly?

Well, I'm just shocked.

Yeah, Phyllis " Roe v. Wade is "the worst decision in the history of the U.S. Supreme Court" Schlafly is a hoot.

My conclusion from your little personal anecdote is that your friends just suck! See how that works.

Well, whenever women issues are discusses, men immediately go 'but what about us poor men!?'. Forgetting that it is pretty much impossible to talk about mens issues without devolving into reddit-style mens rights bullshit and/or making jokes about telling women to make them a sandwich.

Also, blame society for claiming that every man that has an interest in kids is a paedophile. There is such a stigma on working with kids its safer not to do it.

Men who can't handle independent women don't want to get married? Good. The sooner that way of thinking dies off if they aren't raising kids.
