The WCW/NWO Revenge intro rawks HARD

koam said:
It won't happen, or if does, it would have to be modded. No WWF.. some of the wrestlers aren't there anymore.. some of the music is licensed etc etc etc

Exactly.

I would love to see a generic version of the games released. Stripped of logos and named wrestlers but with a beefed up Create a Wrestler. Would make a killer Xbox Live Arcade title.

i wasted many hours (and loosened up many an n64 analog stick) on THQs rasslin games. Honestly, they were probably far and away my most played games of that generation. We used to make leagues and have our own stables and shit :lol

Analog was only used for specials though :p

i know (though couldn't you use it to break out of pins and submissions in the older games?), but THATS how much we played it. All that endless flicking and rotating ended up loosening the shit out my N64 pads :lol (though im sure the Goldeneye deathmatches didn't help either)

The Analog stick would also activate your taunt. That would make it impossible for someone to grapple you... right?

No, taunts would simply increase your special meter and open you up for attacks.

Man those games rocked hard. I miss them. What I wouldn't do for a straight No Mercy port on the Wii at 60FPS.

(though couldn't you use it to break out of pins and submissions in the older games?)

My memory is failing me but i think so.

You used the stick-wiggle trick? How unfair, you literally can't lose :lol

i think I know what he means

its a grapple move he chops (WOOOOOOOOO) and he holds onto the arm as the guy falls and he keeps holding on the guy gets up, another chop (WOOOOOOOOO), repeat about 4 times.

Yeah, it might be in Nitro. I remember it being the first one of these N64 games. It was like a grapple move. Thanks for trying. I tried to look at move lists but no luck. It was a grapple for Machoman. Not a special. He would grab your wrist and smack you in the face causing you to fall. But he would still hold on and keep pulling you up to smack you down. It has to be in nitro. Nitro was the first one, right? Or maybe I'm thinking about World Order. Damn my memory.

Now I just realized it will probably be impossible for the games to come to VC because of ownership over the license and such :(

Well THQ has the rights for WCW and WWF(E) so they can all be ported. The problem is really licensed music that would need to be taken out, the wrestlers who aren't under contract anymore (NO JERICHO? OH NOES) and the WWFs need to be changed to WWEs.

The roms would need altering.

Oh god, Nitro was a disaster. It wasn't made by AKI either. The Aki games were:

WCW World Tour
WCW Revenge
WWF Wrestlemania 2000
WWF No Mercy

Each was better than the previous.

The only BAD thing I can say about Revenge was it's collision detection. Sometimes you would come off the ropes and collide with an opponent that was not even in your path. But that has always been a problem with alot of wrestling games.

I remember my cousin had a PSX and I had a N64. I bought WCW/NWO Revenge and he bought WCW Nitro :lol

All of the games had awesome intros :D I loved the fact that they made their own instead of just using the actual TV intro like PS1 games did.

Anyone remember the secret trick that you could do on the intro? If you pressed the button when when the screen went black & white, the belts in championship mode were silver instead of gold.

No that was in Revenge...

What, no love for EA's masterpiece WCW Backstage Assault? I remember hearing about this from a former colleague who was working on it - I was bugging him about how the game was going to be and all he could do was shake his head and say, "there's no goddamn ring." :lol

There isn't one thread on any game forum where wrestling can be discussed without people demanding that AKI makes new wrestling games - and rightfully so.

Just wait until EA snatches the WWE license in 2009 and then all of our prayers will be answered

BELIEVE IT MUH-FUGGAS!

the real question is..." will japanese wii players get a vc version of the virtual pro wrestling series (the generic version of thier wwf/wwe games in japan)?"

and better yet can we get ds ports of the vpw games from the n64 (that happen to be in english):D

That game was terrible. I liked wrestling back then so i picked up all wrestling related games. That one was possibly the worst. It was in a blue cart. The only cool thing about it was the electric shock weapon though for some reason, after using it 3 times, it would crack like glass. Come to think of it, all weapons did that. Also, my copy came with this ugly Goldberg memory card.

There we go. I just need the gif.

Do you have Revenge? If you could figure out how to do the move, I'd hook up the 64 again and try some more. I couldn't find out how to do the move.

To be fair, by the time of its fall, about 75% of WCW shows did take place in endless backstage promos and skits.

I remember a good friend of mine created a website in anticipation for Revenge. My personal favorite multiplayer game during that era. Fun times. :)

:lol pretty much. It seemed like every other episode ended with a limo with pitch black tinted windows pulling up backstage and Tony Schiavonne yelling "THERES THE LIMO! WHO'S IN THE LIMO!? WE'RE OUT OF TIME FOLKS SEE YOU NEXT WEEK OH MY GOD!"

Didn't Goldberg get seriously injured one time for punching through a limo window? :lol

god what could have been..................

A sequel to WWF No Mercy was in the early stages of development when it was shelved in early 2001 as Nintendo began to phase out the Nintendo 64 console.

Production of the game WCW Mayhem 2 was halted in March 2001 due to the purchase of WCW by the WWF. The graphics and game engine was later used in Def Jam Vendetta.

both were being made by AKI

****!
