file not found!?!
(So far) All the songs have been "remastered". Some turned out better, others didn't meet expectations.
Halfway though HoB.

When you say didn't meet expectations do you mean certain songs sound worse? Or that they sound the exact same as on the mixtapes. :S
I guess they sound worse because they're different from the mixtapes? What You Need didn't have the sample at the beginning and HoB/Glass Table Girls sounded off. His vocals on The Morning's chorus almost sounds brighter but not necessarily a good thing. I dunno.
Edit: Yeah, no Aaliyah sample.
Twenty-Eight on repeat. I just can't seem to get past it. Damn it, so good.
From the snippets, Valerie was my next favorite. Enemy I didn't really care for but we'll see. I definitely try to like it since it sampled The Smiths.Valerie has grown on me.
It rubs me the wrong way when I see spoiled people post on his facebook and other outlets calling him lazy for not releasing anything this year... after putting out three quality albums for free in the span of a year. Really sad.
Definitely. His proper debut LP will be great
Always wanted to get into The weeknd, just couldn't. I do like some of his songs though. High For This and Rolling Stone are my favorites.
What songs from the album should I check out first?
so what's the verdict on the remastering. I've been worried since that wicked games preview that the remaster would be really bad.
also, is it getting a vinyl release or no? Might just get the CD anyway, sure a 3+ LP set would be hefty and expensive.
Hit or miss? Gone is the worst offender. It sounds fucking awful now, like really fucking bad. Most of the tracks can fit squarely in "Eh, they didn't need to change but this is alright" or "this sounds better" camps though.
Echoes gained the most from the remaster. A lot of tracks on Echoes have a much bigger and better soundscape now. D.D. is more epic, the kicks in Same Old Song are bigger etc.
Basically all the earlier shit, the sample heavier stuff took the biggest hit. It's worth the upgrade though, even with the bad and if you played the living shit out of these tapes like I did, it feels nice giving the dude some support.
On the vinyl front, someone on a vinyl forum said one was coming. No confirmation or anything official yet though.

Does Future Shop and Best Buy not carry the CD in Canada? Checked both sites and found nothing unless my search skills are shit. Pretty weird considering you would think one of the largest retailers in the country which was once Canadian (Future Shop) would at least carry an artist from Canada. All 3 tapes have been on my iPhone and gotten tonnes of play but for $10 I'm in just for the 3 tracks and remaster.
