The Witcher 2: @GOG: DRM-Free, bonuses. @Steam: cloud saves, 'chieves. $45 Digital CE

Steam has achievements, cloud saves & DRM.. while the GOG version has a art book, free game (most of the best games i already own though.>_>) and no DRM. Yet I'm still leaning towards the steam version.:lol

there was full frontal nudity and it's a big no-no for NA. Heads blown off and severed body parts are ok, but a nude women will get you AO rating for sure! I still don't get this NA phenomenon, it's pretty much the opposite in Europe.
Red Dead Redemption? GTA Lost and Damned? how did they get away with it then?

EDIT: For the one asking, Steam EE is uncensored.

Lost and the Damned had full frontal nudity..

Well, and you'd be giving more money to the developers by being from GOG.

But yeah, I'm trying to avoid buying the Steam version too. :lol

I guess male nudity is ok :lol

But seriously such preconceptions plague movies as well. There was some good family drama released not so long ago which was NC-17 rated due to "the sensual sex scene" or something like that. While Hostel 2 is an R-rated title. Well, I don't want to derail the thread, but I just wonder why. will ask in OT probably.

Have you gotten any sex cards? If those show nipples then it's the patched version. The only nude model that I can think of is the green lady in the swamp.
The sex cards have nipples.

Red Dead had female nudity as well as sex IIRC...I wouldn't worry about Witcher 2 getting NC-17. Plus the developers aren't as high profile as Rockstar so they'll fly under the radar.

Well, it's good to hear. Not that I care since I don't live in NA, but games being percieved as a mature entertainment is a good sign.

Meh, I have never had a single problem with Steam's "DRM."

Neither have I, still I will buy the GOG version on principal. I want to show publishers that they can make money selling DRM free games and that gamers want DRM free games.

If we say we want DRM free and then buy the version with DRM for other features we are telling them that bonus features are more important than no DRM.

I think I've decided to get the GOG version. Just pre-ordered it. Although I'm not so sure how it works when i haft to pay for it later on.:lol is it possible to opt out of it and go for the steam version later on.:lol

Do I need to finish the original Witcher to play part 2? I know this is a prequel but still wondering.
IIRC there's going be a decision carry over thing in witcher 2. So it will be worth playing through the witcher for that. In fact I'm going haft to replay the game as i lost my original save.:lol

Ah looks like I shall have to finish the original then. I stopped playing because every time I load my latest save the Cam is stuck overhead and can't open doors as well as being difficult to navigate.

Where are you guys getting confirmation of Steam Achievements and the cloud? I don't see that anywhere on the Steam page?

Yes, there is save carry over and I believe characters attitudes towards you in game differ based on your choices in the first and I also think I read that the intro is different based on your choices.

Wasnt there a cd projeckt guy with a gaf account? Maybe he'll make an appearance and clarify.

I was thinking about re-playing the first to alter some of my choices but decided against it.
At the time, I liked what I picked but only thought about changing once I saw the current cast for The Witcher 2. I went against Triss in the first game and trusted Shani instead. I hope she doesnt hold grudges too long :lol

Someone a few pages back said that it was announced at the conference today.

Hmm I really want the physical CE just for all the bonus goodies (especially the artbook and game guide) but if I'm really honest with myself then I'd admit that I don't really need any of that junk and it's the game that's really important!

The DRM free GOG release is really, really tempting as well. Especially considering the price difference and the amount of virtual goodies that they are offering I am going to have a hard time saying "no" to that one. Decisions, decisions...

I want to show pubs that cloud saves are fucking important.

The GOG version also comes with the guide and artbook but they are in digital form

Everyone who's buying this should try and finish the first game, it really picks up towards the end and is very enjoyable.

Fuuuuuck. Do I get the GoG version or Steam version? Do I wait and save pennies for the 120 dollar retail version? I FUCKING LOVE YOU CDPROJEKT. This is how you release a game.

My god, this is how you do it. Each major center has their bonuses for purchased. I have to say, the return of credit to UK/EU purchasers too is probably the best pro consumer thing a developer has done in a very long time.

I'll probably end up going with the GoG release just to support CD Projekt, but this is very cool what they're doing.

i don't want to play the first witcher (no time), can i still enjoy this one?
You have no time between now and May 17th?

GoG version for me... and as soon as I finish downloading the game I'll do an insta backup. You know... Just in case. :D

Could you enjoy The Temple of Doom without watching Raiders of the Lost Ark?
yes.

So the Witcher 2 is going to be noticeably worse than the first game?

Oh I went there.

I wasn't able to enjoy it even after watching Raiders of the Lost Ark. Not a good comparison imo. :D

If the game's not out until next year, then why does Steam have it listed in the New Releases? I just opened Steam and almost shit a brick when I saw it was out. :(

They removed it, it looks like, but I noticed it earlier today.

What's the catch? Those deals seem too good to be true. I'm essentially getting two games free to play now and a 100% DRM free copy.

Burn in flames retail, it was nice knowing you.

Do want Steam goodies and CE goodies. Will buy Steam version today and CE on release day, give the disc and key from CE to a lucky friend. Place Geralt head on fireplace mantle.
