The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Official System Requirements

Have they ever said anything about a possible Linux version after the initial (accidental?) announcement on steam? My PC meets the recommended specs except for the OS, and I'd rather play the game on PC than on PS4 even if the Linux version is delayed. I'd just like to know if it'll come at all.

The situation with AMD cpus is pretty sad. In 90% of games the 2500k is faster or just as good but on the high-end AMD hasn't released a new series since Vishera so there really isn't anything else to recommend.
And i am pretty sure a 770 will not be even close to enough for all the nvidia stuff.

Expected these, but I wish they would specify what does Recommended mean exactly. 1080p@high@60fps? Or 30fps? Or ultra ? Or what?

I asked them on twitter, but am not really expecting an answer, as nice as it would be.

In any case, if my 280X isn't enough for 1080p@high@60fps, I will upgrade.

It's odd that the recommended GPU is a 770 or 290 when the 290 is pretty much neck and neck performance wise as the 780

For some. Not for others.

I don't see how PC games being demanding for max settings/60fps can be interpreted as anything but positive news.
I just don't.

It means they are pushing technology forward which can never be a bad thing, settings exist on PC for a reason. If one does not have the hardware ? No problem one just tones down settings.

Slightly worried that they require an i7 at recommended, hopefully my 970 will be GPU bound before my 4670k is.
Games have been recommending I7s for a while. I don't think an I5 won't be sufficient but hopefully I7s really make a difference.
My 4770K is ready.

Exactly, I'll be locking it to 30FPS and enjoy a wonderful looking game, I just hope VRAM usage isn't crazy.(at 1080P)

So how well is my rig going to handle this?

I'm not somebody who needs to push the bleeding edge, even if it runs decent at low to mid settings I'll be happy with it. Not really in a rush to upgrade further.

Thoughts?

This is disappointing but expected I guess?

Might have to settle for a PS4 rental then.

Hmm FX8350 black & GTX580oc 3gb here,ran Unity well enough but do I upgrade to a GTX970 ??

Either way I guess it's going to look nicer than the consoles.

I still have a 560Ti,I could probably play it on high on my PC,with a few things turned off,at 1080p, but I will probably grab this on the PS4,which should look a little bit better...I have a I7 CPU 870 @2.93GHz, 8,0 GB RAM.

Better than I expected. I probably won't have to wait for the new Nvidia cards before I play this, then, I'll just lock it at 30 and enjoy it when it comes out, and maybe replay it at a better framerate when the new cards come out.

I wonder how it would fair with a stock i5 2500k and a 980.

I had plans to only upgrade from my 670, not my CPU too.

Yeah, probably safe to assume 1080p/30@high. With such high CPU requirements on PC, it'll def be interesting to see what type of concessions they've made with those console versions.

My 4770K is ready.

I know, I just didn't give a shit about other games :P
Given the fact that CDPR is rather good at coding for PC, I reckon multi-core will be utilized well.
Sigh, should not have cheaped out and gone for a 4790k instead.

I have better RAM and CPU than the minimum but I have a 660, so... No way I'm playing this game before upgrading my PC. I still have to play TW2, though.

Wait if the minimum required is
Intel i5-2500K 3.3GHz

My laptop has
Intel i7-4700HQ @ 2.40 GHz

...will my laptop not be able to run the game?

I think that would have been a much better choice but I guess you gave way to the sirens telling you that more cores would be a waste.
Your I5 will be fine anyway but not 60fps fine in heavily CPU limited areas.

How does these bodes for the console versions?

Well, they confirmed that the Xbone build at E3 was running in 900p/high settings.
At the same time, Mamais confirmed that the PS4 was running at 1080p, also at high settings.

No idea if this is still the case, but I still think the PS4 should be able to run this game fine in 1080p.

Laptop CPU's aren't half as powerful (in theory) as in their desktop counterparts. Your bigger problem is your mobile GPU.

I mean, it'll probably run, just don't expect many bells and whistles.

Well as long as I can run it at 60 FPS or with good graphcis @ locked 30 FPS, I'd be OK i guess..

I am almost at the recommended system requirements, the only difference being that I have an i5 processor and not an i7.

Should run it fine, I imagine

Hmm. I think the industry needs to stop calling it "recommended", what does that even mean? It's such a subjective and meaningless term in my opinion, there needs to be a disclaimer with settings they deem acceptable.

Anyway, I think I'm in the middle with my 4760K and 280X. Though I'll probably need to upgrade to play it at 1080/30.

Welp, my rig won't be running it, not that I expected otherwise.

I'll pick it up on PS4, unless the console versions blow, which will mean I'll finally have to dig deep and build a new rig.

Pretty much the same here, hoping that OC helps my processor out. On the GPU side I just upgraded to a 970, so I should be fine.
