The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf (X360/PS3)

If anything, this will just make them better developers.

Bioware is the obvious example of a PC RPG dev who just became heaps better once they went console exclusive.

Well...they've gotten higher production values at least. Not that Bioware is console exclusive.

Awesome, this gen console western RPG >>> japanese RPG.

Now put Stalker on PS360 and i will jump on the wagon.

Nice that the common folk will also get to experience this title, though I wasn't as impressed by it as some GAFers. I wonder how well it will sell given the large amount of time between the initial release and this port.

Baldur's Gate II is the best RPG ever! Buy it here!

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

Hell I could probably say the same to many of the arcade developers back in the arcade hey-days. If the developers do leave PC gaming to make more casual oriented console titles then so be it who cares. We still have plenty of great developers out there in support of PC gaming.

Not really. Especially in certain genres. CRPGs being one.

It's not nearly as insulting as games like Ninja Gaiden.
Sure, there's some sex and suggestive sketching, but the women characters are actually rounded, well written (by computer game standards) and play integral part in the plot, not serving as the usual boobs for rescue.

So because a woman had big boobs in Ninja Gaiden the game was insulting to women, but going around sleeping with women and having nudity isn't insulting? Riiiiight ...you got your morals all fucked up.

I doubt it will matter. Most console gamers won't have even heard of it.

Personal preference aside, it's a one way street, man. Dragon Age...yeesh

Shut your filthy whore mouth, BG2 is the best game EVER.

As long as CD Projekt is handling the console port I think it'll end up pretty good and faithful to the original. If they're handing it off to someone else to do I imagine it'll be a Far Cry Instincts level disaster.

EDIT: I see the Far Cry Instincts point was already made. But watching the video it seems like all the changes are basically related to trying to implement a more action oriented combat system, so hopefully everything else will remain fairly untouched.

The witcher isn't a good enough game to warrant 3 re-releases.

Since one of those would be a port and the other would simply be bug fixes I have no idea what your talking about or what your point is.

kotor 1 was good, je sucked, ME was ok.

1 1/2, outta 3 so far.

I might give this a look. I've been reading the two books that have been released in English and really enjoying the universe where it all takes place, and I've heard that there are loads of characters who make small appearances in those who turn up in this.

Is there a demo of this for the PC? After seeing how similar Fallout is to Oblivion (booo) I could really use a great SP RPG.

Meaning that if this is just a port i hope they're also actually working on fresh projects than just re-tracing the same old game. If this is a largely fresh adventure then that would be pretty cool.

The console game seems to be a heavily modified port. I'm pretty sure that Witcher 2 was already announced for the PC.

Except it wasn't. When CDProjekt teased that they were having a new Witcher announcement I was all excited for a sequel announcement. Console port news is such a let down. :(

Witcher is an awesome game. Don't know what is wrong with people hating on it so much. Good news for console people, hopefully it turns out nice. I actually think the graphics are great, just the character models alone from the first 10 minutes of gameplay look significantly better than most other games, certainly better than Fallout 3, Oblivion, NWN2 (& exps), some of the texture work on the characters and clothing is really great too.

Brilliant if true!!!!

Then perhaps this console port is just paving the way for a multi system sequel.

With the game selling over a million, I don't think you have much to worry about. No need to rush it though.

There's still "the hunt" puzzle on their main site, which has just been updated to two pieces. Unless it is just a weird way of being lttp with this news, it could be something interesting too.

I have no problem with sexual humour, or sex in any medium. It's the women-as-objects and whatnot that gets my goat. So, knowing it gets your (relative) seal of approval has just put it back onto my "would like" list.

Just play the game and ignore the dumbasses talking about how the game is "misogynistic". The majority of the most powerful people in the game are women. The Witcher is one of the best RPG to hit computers in a half decade and it deserves to get fantastic sales. I've been hoping they would bring it to consoles so that others may experience how great it is.

A game can have misognyistic elements and still be good. You collect nudie cards for banging broads ffs.

So will it have the same story and settings as the PC version?

Geralt will be "Poochified"

o.O

what? i'm still going to look into this game because some part of me still wants to play a good rpg (haven't clicked with an RPG in many years) but that sounds retarded.

There were misognyistic elements but that's our culture and that's the culture of videogames and demographics of its users. It is what is is.

I tried to bang every chick I could in that game and was disappointed when there were women I couldn't :(

You didn't have to bang the women. It functioned essentially as a photo of them anyway.

This is awesome. I was always intrigued by this game but I haven't had a current gaming-worthy PC for almost 10 years.

Now just bring out STALKER for 360 and I'll be happy!

oh as i alluded to above and earlier i thought it was a very good game.

My aim was more to reinforce your point ;)

There is no doubt Geralt (at least the way I played him) functioned as somewhere between a cross between Captain Kirk and James Bond.

They also need to keep the finest piece of dialogue ever put into a game in the console version.

"Caroline is dead. The Dogs ate her"

I really need to play the extended edition. I beat the buggy ass broken broken version because I was too impatient to wait.

I've heard about this being a really good game. I'll be picking this up for PS3.
While the PC to console ports keep coming, I've been wanting a STALKER PS3 version for awhile now, so hopefully that's not too far off.

I remember a while back the STALKER developers were making a pretty big deal about the fact that they just got certified for 360 development, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a 360 version pop up, and if a 360 version is coming I would think a PS3 version would come with it.

Stalker was great but had some shortcomings in terms of performance and variety in my opinion. I played at launch, so without any patches, so I dont know if they improved it. Then I thought Fallout 3 would be what Stalker tried to be and I was also somewhat dissapointed in that.

We need a game that combines those two, take the best of each and it would be amazing.

STALKER's atmosphere and factions combined with Fallout's attention to detail (with world-building), and VATS thrown in for those of us that suck at console shooters. Mmmm.

I thought STALKER's world was far superior to Fallout...it actually felt varied.
