they have not outgrown charles. mutantkind is still fucked up as it was when he was around, but now the xmen are clamoring for a leader that scott isnt fulfilling. when an actual leader steps up, then they will have outgrown him

Basically..... Charles wasn't perfect but he was a Icon like Magneto and there hasn't been the equivalent since.

Storm or Kitty.

Maybe Nightcrawler, but I'd rather see him leading a fun and weirdness team like Excalibur or the Exiles.

I can't see Kitty becoming the mutant leader she would have become after she went to space leaving everyone behind with the terrigen mist business.

Nightcrawler isn't the leader type, and yes, please, give him a fun book.

Storm is such a boring X-Leader. She's almost always written as being too noble, and makes too few mistakes to be interesting. If you are an X-Men and are fighting in one of those bi-monthly family feuds, you automatically know you are on Team Asshole if Storm is fighting on the other side.

Kitty Pryde could be an interesting leader. Maybe not for the mutant race in general, but definitely for a 5-8 person X-team.

kitty could be head of young mutants. or put her back with rachel and kurt on an all new excalibur. storm could be morlock ambassador if they ever decide to integrate them with the mutant populous

honestly, with blue and gold, id make scott and rogue new team leaders. scott is the most famous leader, and rogues team in careys supernovas is my favorite team thus far. bring in old man logan and magneto as advisors.

and bring in spider man as a teacher for kids struggling with their powers and self esteem

But I thought Marvel Comics doesn't want anything to do with the X-Men, what with 20th Century Fox owning the film rights and basically getting free advertisement from Marvel?

That's the reason the Inhumans have received their recent push, but Marvel definitely hasn't actively tried to kill the comics. It's more that Marvel's writers haven't had a clue what to do with mutantkind for a long time, even before the Inhuman push started. Marvel haven't been putting out X-Men cartoons recently though, which can almost be considered a mercy given the quality of their current offerings.

The X-Men comics still sell pretty well, so they're not going to try and destroy them any time soon.

Now Fantastic Four? Nobody cares about them unless they're on a "best book in print" run.

Things have cooled off a little bit over the past year as Marvel Comics has started to grow apart from Marvel Studios, which moved directly under the Disney Studios last fall when there was a falling out between Marvel's CEO Isaac Perlmutter and Kevin Feige. Marvel Comics now has no influence on the movies and is left with just television, digital, and publishing. Perlmutter's looking to expand his power base and eventually grow power within Disney and is having to do it outside of the MCU now.

This is why Marvel's heavily involved in the Legion series that's coming out on FX and probably why we're seeing the X-books relaunched in some form.
Also because the multiple attempts to generate excitement behind the Inhumans franchise has stumbled.

Storm has been refferred to multiple times as pretty much the only one left who fully believes in Xavier's dream and hasn't been corrupted by all the dark shit that's happened like Scott and Beast

I kinda want to see Marvel double down on the O5 and bring in a teenaged Logan lol.

If they did go away in favor of their older versions the only one I would probably miss is Cyclops.

Logan being revived but younger would be something else.

I think old man Logan will be de aged after next year and end up being the de facto wolverine

Who? I vaguely remember such a character before they got tossed aside like a piece of garbage

She was just in Spurrier's X-Force, which ended last year right before Secret Wars. Book ended with her leading her own X-Force team, but given that Psylocke is off running around with Magneto, no one's exactly sure how that team's doing.

As far as I'm concerned X-Force ended with Remender's Uncanny, I've been waiting for it to come back ever since. Like how Thunderbolts ended with Parker's run, there was some crap about a red team but I'm pretty sure it never existed.

Spurrier's X-Force is amazing and I would argue that it's just as good as Remender's.

Did Chamber get the rawest deal of all the Mutants?

I think I would even take telepathic brain in a vat over no mouth.

Well he also killed a loved one in the process of losing said mouth, so it's a really raw deal.

Chamber had a lot of potential. Like he was fighting Omega Red and discovered he was immortal. Omega red tried to drain his life force and found out chamber was pure psychic energy inhabiting a what was left of his body.
