The Xbox One store has become so unorganised

I don't understand why don't they just use the 360 layout? Hell, just 360 everything but add in the Xbox One's new features.

The 360 store makes the One store look like an amateur effort. It boggles my mind how they have the perfect template, and still release a mess.

Yeah it honestly is a pretty bad mess. There are two versions of Halo MCC on there too. Halo: The Master Chief Collection & Halo: The Master Chief Collection Digital even though both are digital. I own the digital version but for some reason I can also purchase the "digital" version again.

I don't really like the PS Stores layout either honestly, it shoves a bunch of advertisements in your face upon opening it and is also pretty disorganized. 360 store is still the best IMO.

It's utter shit. Everything dumped together is god awful. So much wasted space with their metro grid UI, and there's not even an A-Z menu to dig into.

Metro as a UI paradigm is generally garbage in terms of usability. MS is for some reason in love with its aesthetics though and spams it all over everything.

The xbox one store is a mess I agree, they have a listing for preorders, released and SE's as seperate games meaning you can search for a page, enter it and then find out you can't buy it because you are on the now old pre-order page.

Nothing was wrong with the 360 store layout, why the fuck did they go and mess it up?

Wow, I've never actually noticed how terrible this is. I wish they would list them better and also group like games together...

There is a ton of room to easily improve the storefront here.

I find both stores unusable from the console.

Every time I want to download something I queue it up from their web stores.

lol that's ridiculous.

I prefer it to psn, but neither one are that great.

I don't prefer either honestly. Both are horrible. Xbox One has so much going on that it confuses me and PS has so many dumb tabs that I feel like I am in a web browser. They both need a lot of work. I prefer the Wii U store front actually. Well laid out and it's easy to find what I am looking for.

I have issues with the PSN store, but at least it's easy to find DLC and other add-ons for a game.

It takes so many steps to get into a game's add-on section. Granted for season pass content IIRC it shows up under the Manage section for the game (KI did it for me), but it's still a kludge.

Yeah it's pretty crazy right now. Still have yet to see an ad for Ori..

Had to dig through shit to find it when it just released.

The last time I remember using the Xbox store on an actual Xbox (as opposed to queueing up downloads through a PC browser) was somewhere back around the time that Rock Band and Guitar Hero were still new and popular. The store had room to display a grand total of four "things" on one screen, and if you went to 'New Releases' in the store, every single song download of that week, for both games, was listed as its own "thing". Meaning that you would have to scroll left to right through 30-50 "things", only able to view four at a time, with everything (whether it was interesting or shit) nestled in between the song downloads.

This looks, at the very least, a lot better than it was back then.

The store is terrible for perusing. Hopefully a revamp is coming with the Win 10 changes.

I normally just use SmartGlass to make purchases. It usually updates quicker than the console store too.

It takes so many steps to get into a game's add-on section.

I haven't found this to be the case. The add-ons are listed in the right-hand column on any game's main store page. This was actually one of the useful changes they added in the one update the store did get.

YES. The marketplace on the Xbox 360 back during the blade days was terrible. It was just one huge list for the most part.

After using the PS Store for awhile with it's categories that are easier to navigate, I've grown to really dislike the current Xbox Store. I hope they give it an overhaul soon.

I was meaning that I have to go to the Games & Apps section, go to the game and then pick the submenu option to get to the game's page (and you can't easily see if you have something bought like you can on PSN, so it's going in and out of each one if you can't remember).

Whereas the PS4 it's a lot easier to tell what's installed and what isn't.

I was shocked at how bad the XB1 store is when I got my XB1 a few months ago. I have to imagine the store is going to get a complete overhaul when they update the UI for Windows 10. I hope so anyway, as it is a complete mess.

I actually liked browsing the store on the Xbox 360 because it defaulted to showing the content in order of release, with the newest stuff at the front. Even the section in the OP isn't that bad, because those Forza bundles are "new".

The Add-On section in particular is messed up.

You have to scroll through ~50 random old items just to get to the latest content. The reason? Laziness.

The list defaults to showing "Coming Soon" content at the front, which by itself is kind of dumb. Then when this content is actually released, they never change it to a real date and it stays at the front of the list forever.

Yeah, it's a mess. The entire UI is a mess. I hate having to do anything on my Xbox One if it's not playing a game or just clicking the YT box I have pinned to the left. Complete fuck up of a layout.

I especially like how they put up a thumbnail for something in a "bundle" that you can't buy. The UI has always been a mess, and the store is just as lousy.

LOL, yeah. When I saw the FFXV box in the demo section I thought "Whoa, WTH?"
That quickly turned into "Ahhh, fuck off."

Yeah, the store could do with an overhaul.

Hell, it doesn't even need drastic work. Collapsing things into a single game page would do wonders. Say you wanted to look up Hardline. You'd go to latest games, click on Hardline. At which point there'd be sections like a buy thing under which the versions are listed. Along with DLC and other media links such as streams and demos.
They've already got most of that with the current pages.

Interesting, the cynical side of me assumes that publishers/devs may be exploiting this for their content to be first...

I've always been able to find things with Bing search.

It could use an over haul though.
The first things I'd do is consolidate titles.
Having a title then show base, goty, premium etc.

Micro transactions. These need to be dealt with some way. Use the hub for these. Just like on 360, the marketplace gets flooded with them. Seeing 800 songs and outfits in a row makes it hard to find what you want.

guessing forza being there is because it got new dlc which is the fast and furious thing and the type-0 thing is probably one containing both the game and demo and the other just containing the game
Nah they added a standard edition to forza without the day one DLC

Both xbox and psn stores are a mess. If it isn't new you need to know exactly what you're looking for, because it's going to be buried and hard to find.

This is one of my main gripes of the Xbone. It's gotten to the point I don't bother if it isn't one of the "Deals with Gold" thing on the dashboard.

The 360 store was substantially better than the PS3 store, but the PS4 store (while it has issues) is so much better than the Xbone store it isn't even funny.

It's terrible, needs to be more organized. Everything is just randomly thrown in together and there are sometimes 3 or 4 selections for the same game and you can't tell what is the game or DLC or what unless you open each one.

I too hate a the duplicate thumbs for the different editions of games. I also hate how we have so many additions of games these days.

Xbox Live and the OS in general are garbage on the Xbox One this time. They updated a bit to make it more streamlined but I hate it. Now that Kinect 2.0 was a flop, maybe with the release of Windows 10, they can start making it more intuitive for controller only schemes. So much lag on the OS, party chat, joining games issues.

At least they have a three by five(ish) grid that tries to make use of screen space, on the 360 you just scrolled through listings one at a time in a straight line. It still isn't the kind of store you can "browse" though. You either know exactly what you want going in or you have to spend time figuring out the difference between digital, digital deluxe, standard, and ultimate.

Yes it has. Finding things is just way too difficult.

The one thing that upset me was when I found the Indie games. I hadn't heard most had been released, or any news. XBOX used to have news or at least a button with Indie content, now it seems lost deep in the store. I would be sad if I was dev trying to get a game sold there.

This is exactly the case. Spot on.

No doubt I've missed some things on there due to the whole mess, which is a problem for Microsoft and any company attempting to sell on the XB1 store.

No sort by alphabetical order? Thats odd and a bad oversight if true. I can at least use that on PSN and the 360.

Most times I just use the search function on PSN and 360 when looking for something specific.

The real crime is that Indie games become lost in this mess. With no filter option and indie games being released in the same category as retail games theres just no easy way to find indie games you want without looking up the name. The way the store is set up only the "Top" games get the most attention and most of those games are the big retail releases.

I agree, the store seems like it was built for a console with a dozen games, each with 2 or 3 pieces of DLC. Try browsing the DLC for a game like Dead or Alive 5, it's a nightmare.

I hope that the entire UI will be fixed with Windows 10. The current UI was built for always online and Kinect voice navigation. It took me 10 minutes to find settings the first time I searched for it.

Yeah agreed it's a mess, better to just either use the search function or purchase games on the xbox website and let them download to your console automatically.
