THEATRHYTHM Final Fantasy (3DS) First Gameplay Video

Seems like a decent fan service game. The game has some footage of the famicom FF games and the FMV from FF8 as backgrounds or was this just for the demo trailer?

Judging by what else is on the website, I believe input is on the touch screen so you can see what's going on on the top-screen. It's really nice to actually be able to use the touch controls and not obscure what's going on on-screen.

The video (and other images on the site) also indicate that you use the stylus for input, and the action is obviously on the top screen. It's more gestural based then pin-point accuracy of touching icons in specific spots (it seems for now anyways).

Bring on TGS.

Thats a good way of doing it. Ultros looked hilarious.

Looked pretty easy so far, hopefully the difficulty will ramp up. I have hope since indieszero made RGC, which wasn't the easiest game around...

Honestly I still don't see the appeal. It looks like a poor man's Ouendan/EBA with not-so-great looking FF themes/reskins or just straight footage that S-E gets to use their own music catalog of OSTs and remixes for, but maybe it'll surprise me and turn out to be a great rhythm game. I'm glad this video tutorial makes it obvious that this is a rhythm game though, now I don't have to see people comparing this to Mother 3 anymore.

Pretty nice. I am sure fans of the series will really appreciate the music.

I wish something like this will be released for Dragon Quest as well!

It looks cute and I think I would enjoy playing it.

Not every video game needs to change my life.

Why is this game not The World Ends With You themed? That would work so much better I would think.......

A Final Fantasy branded game will probably sell better than one modeled around TWEWY, a game that no one gives a shit about.

It looks better than I expected. But since the video seemed taken off the top screen, I'm wondering how the prompts are going to be laid out on the bottom screen. I didn't expect any of it to be on the top screen to begin with. Everything looked great until the FF8 scene, bleh.

(However, Himumu's dream of leading Rinoa will finally become a reality)

FFVIIIR incoming!

I know some may not be into to it but that looks amazing to me. That jumped above alot of games in my want list, not my top but certainly higher then I thought it would be.

And yeah it may just be an FMV rip but fuck the haters, the sweet use of the Ball Room scene was freaking awesome.

One of the best FMV's in FF and I love that Rinoa is apart of it at least.

Haters gonna hate. Music games are amazing, go play something like CoD so you can get your fix of shooting stuff and yelling at 11 years old kids on mic while you leave fun games to the rest of the people than can appreciate them.

I'm looking forward to this. I do love the music of FF games.

Being a rhythm title I'm really not sure what people were expecting.

Looks terrible for a music game. EBA rip-off + boring patterns (the FF8 was same repeat 3-4 times).

Correction - DJ Max, IIDX, Rock Band (if you are into Western music) are amazing. This looks plain boring. Give it to Pentavision, they could make something decent out of it. This looks like glorified cash grab, similar to all FFXIII Image Collection or other crap they released on iOS.

Anything but a rhythm game because it's Final Fantasy

Except that there are innovative music games that rock. Elite Beat Agents and Rhythm Heaven, and a game like this that just looks like the standard music game with some FF crap in the background >.<

Why would you do that? said:
I'm not a Final Fantasy fan, nor am I a huge fan of its music, but I think I'm gonna get this.

I'll call it my first Final Fantasy game. lol
This except I'm a huge fan of its battle music. I probably spent more time listening to its music than my various attempts to get into the series :lol.

Who on Earth are you directing this moronic rage at?

As much as I love Ouendan, I can't help but wish that this was a full-fledged RPG. I want a story to rival any mainline FF, gear, stats, and the rhythm portion to rule over combat/social interaction/other key scenes. As it is, I don't find myself caring as much as I had hoped I would.

It seems cute but a little too basic and simple regarding gameplay. And that's strange for a FF, any FF. I hope with time they announce some cool feature like growing systems or similar things :P

Gameplay seems interesting, and I loved how that ballroom scene was intertwined with the game, but jeez the character models are ugly -_-

Looks cheap and boring...

Looks interesting and charming!
The team behind it developed Electroplankton, which is reallt fascinating.
Moreover, it seems there are contents from every Final Fantasy: battle, field and event, which means that we'll have at least 39 stages very well differentiated between each other (for example, battle from Final Fantasy VI is againts Ultros, event from Final Fantasy VIII is the dance scene and so on).

If you say so... happy for your happiness....

I See a stage with a Guitar Hero bad clone and a background of 2D JRPG, something like Ouendan with a charming girl walking on a forest and again a Slow copy of Ouendan with a 1999 CG Movie in the background...

Many things you can see and you can hope... but this is what we have in front now...

"Holy shit! This is awesome!" Was my initial impression, but after gathering myself and looking at the gameplay...

...this is pretty much what I got out of it.

Battle stage is interesting because it'll act as a classic jRPG battle, but with icons & rhythm instead; it's not a GH-clone, since you used the stylus and meanwhile you have to defeat your enemy; I'm curious to see all FF stages!

Field stage is down tempo mode, easier, relaxing, probably they'll put here all slow song, some theme songs and the like; there'll be locations from mainline FF so I can't wait again to see what they've chosen to represent all episodes!

Considering the event stage, well, it's Final Fantasy VIII! In XIII stage there'll be a 2010 movie, won't it? It depends on the chapter chosen, as you can see from the website, every FF has a section with a brief about the story and probably the game will be a sort of compendium of the series.

Anyway, to me it looks more Taiko no Tatsujin than Guitar Hero, and this makes me grow interest; in Namco game there are different modes, in easy mode things are quite slow and it seems boring, but it all depends on the music and on the challange you want to face.

Kind of want. With this, Heroes of Ruin and Dream Drop Distance (lol) SE have a pretty interesting 3DS lineup - one mercifully free of Chocobo Racing, to boot.

Tell me more!

It does look like it might have Dissidia-style character growth, seeing as how each "mode" had a character, HP bar, and level in the top right corner.
