Them OG Star Trek boys (next generation)

It's an outtake, IIRC.

Stewart's outtakes are so crazy. They're just so opposite of what you expect from the Picard character, as the gif shows. (And yes, there are more.)

I'm torn on the D *titters*. It looked great to me on TV, but did not make a good transition to film at all. The E looks great, but the nacelles are sometiming for me. I guess it depends on the angles, like this one where they actually look good.

The linked plus Kate and Jeri hated each other and Chakotay's actor hated the writers and producers, notice how he is barely in the show the last two seasons. He would publicly call out the writers and producers.

Last two seasons? He was barely in the last seven seasons.

He was actually replaced by a lightly varnished teak bench for several scenes during one mid season episode while the actor was on holiday, many production staff remarked that the replacement was a sturdy and oddly comfortable stand-in.

Excelsior has always been my favorite design.

After that, I'd say Inteped (Voyager).
Best design is easily the Newton-Type as seen in the current series.

Look at those TWO secondary hulls and bad-ass half-saucer design. And who can forget that awesome rollbar?Bad-ass!

I always liked the TNG Enterpise.. it always felt the most realistic/grounded to me but maybe that's just because I was way more invested in that show than any others. I also really liked some of the futuristic/alternate universe ships that were on some episodes of TNG and in the TNG films.

I have a question for the hardcore trek fans- Was it controversial when Worf was revealed as a security officer amongst Star Trek fans? I just watched the TNG episode where Scotty sees Worf for the first time and thought of asking that!

Also, I am about to start working on the vfx for the next Star Trek film. *street cred*

I don't know, I think the Galaxy class is pretty beautiful, but you can't really appreciate her full beauty until you see her moving from different angles. I can't find anything better, so here's a short video showing her in combat over the years, both as the Enterprise D and her sister ships. The gentle curve of her neck that connects to the sweep of the saucer section, the elegant struts for the nacelles, the full degree phaser fire cover that influenced successive ships... fantastic looking ship.

My favourite design by far is the Constitution refit, but I kinda want to defend the Galaxy from being as maligned as she is here.

One of my two favourite shots of the ship:

Other one is a sketch from the Tech Manual. Can't find it anymore.

What's going on here? Who is she? And who is he? Was she or he on the show? Is she Keiko's daughter? Or some other child extra? I don't recognize her. And yeah, answer the question. Why is she sitting on Dr. Crusher's lap?

IIRC, the man in the front, and the unknown women are proposing to each other.

Goddamn right.

Best flown to it's proper soundtrack.

Nah man, I need some falcon cries when that thing comes on screen.

As for best Enterprise, it's definitely the refit. If anything it could be more art deco in space. Shame that the JJ reboot screws up the profile with the secondary hull, otherwise it'd be a solid version too.

The issue I always had with the -E was it looked weirdly squat with its lack of neck. I don't think the -D is that great looking but it's not really supposed to be aerodynamic, it's a spaceship, so in that respect I can respect the design (also they were trying to make the two halves of the ship look decent on their own for saucer separation so they had additional design considerations to make.)

Yep, best Star Trek series and best starship. It was there to wreck shit.
The Galaxy class got cheapened out by DS9 though, so many flying around so they could recycle the model...

The Defiant, Voyager and E were also great if you were around at that time. Felt like real next-gen ships. That's also why I couldn't warm up with DS9 at first, I need some really cool ships!

Enterprise D looks great, and it looks huge compared to original Enterprise, as it should. I also really like the look of TOS movie era Enterprise, the reboot Enterprise looks a bit weird in comparison.

1. Not a reboot.

2. Aside from the nacelles, that Enterprise looks a LOT like the NCC-1701-A.

That wasn't the worst death from Generations.

Third worst maybe, if we count a certain off screen one.

1. Even if it's alternative universe story, you might as well call it as reboot for all intends and purposes.

2. Secondary hull looks different also. It's not a bad looking redesign, but I think the original Enterprise refit looks better.

DS9 wrecked the galaxy. In TNG it was made clear that a Galaxy could pretty much bare knuckle brawl down the entire cardassian fleet such was the gulf in power between them, in the DS9 premier the Enterprise was called back to the station to put the Cardassians back in their place after the wormhole is found. All good so far, just had to make sure that they were kept to rare appearances so that the show was more about DS9.

Then come the Dominion, a Galaxy is used to demonstrate how powerful the Dominion are, OK fair enough especially as the Galaxy shields at that time didn't work against the dominion and it took a suicide attack to take out the big old wagon. Common writing theme have the new baddy knock out the current hero to show that things have got real... A little lazy but common enough.

From that point on Galaxies are seen in the background getting one shot to oblivion and back by Dominion, Cardassain and anyone else who just happens to be passing, often due to their captains forgetting to raise shields, a ship that could level planets and stand toe to toe against everything shy of a Borg cube was now a chump.

I know it's nitpicky, but I hate that little course change at the end, just set the right course from the start damn it, I don't care about your visual flair!! :*(

It didn't change course. You are just seeing the gentle warping of spacetime as the Warp Field solidifies. There, did that fix it for you?

The Enterprise-D looks great when you look at a 3D or real-life model of her. But I think that the angles in most shots of the show made her look out of proportion.

Fucking shame that she was destroyed by a ridiculous shitbox from the Klingon stone age.

No she was destroyed by Ron "I'm a hack" Moore. Guy had it in for the D since he joined the writing team (which was a mistake. He had one good story in him and that was it). He had been itching to destroy it as far back as season 5

She went on to Stargate SG-1 where she made the exact same episode except with asians this time.

Really? I thought the person who directed Code of Honor was a guy

Prometheus man. The only good thing to come out of Voyager

Uhm no. That looks like a ship designed by Anime writers.

Disagree. I think the D looked incredible in Generations.

Modern Star Fleet shit designs suck ass. Voyager and The Prometheus was alright though

Fixed. I'm sorry but every ship made after TNG ended looked incredibly stupid. They were no longer made with any semblance of intelligence and looked like they were designed by 12 year olds.

I kind of liked the ships in Enterprise. Voyager and DS9 didn't really come of with new good looking ships.
