There will be a SCE press conference at Paris Games Week this year.

Interesting about Gamescom. Wondered what caused that. Maybe better venue at this Paris gig?

With how strong Gamescom was last year, interesting bit of news.

Skipping having a press conference at Gamescom =/= Skipping Gamescom.

And the article states the reason is because the gap between E3 and Gamescom is shorter this year.

No way they are skipping Gamescom. When so many other pubs left it, Sony was the onewho always sticked with it. So strange.

It's the same, it's just the conference will be in Paris and later in the year. I don't see what's the difference. Who cares if it's in Germany or in France ?

This.

They're basically delaying their press conference by two months, from Aug to Sep. (from Germany to Paris )

So this year will be :
E3 (SCEA)
TGS (SCEJA)
PGW ( SCEE)
PSX (SCEA)

It seems to suggest that they aren't doing a gamescom conference because it's so soon after E3. There's only a six week gap between E3 and gamescom this year.

Thinking Sony will have a non-presence at GC is silly.
They'll be there, but not with a huge hour and a half blowout.

I do think this is an interesting maneuver.
Paris Games Week has been growing in popularity, and with France being a more heavily Japan focused market, I think some big things could show up.

Edit:
That's WAY early.
ok, that makes a lot of sense.

But still, Gamescom is the second largest gaming related event each year, actually it is bigger than E3 what I know (except for conferences ofc but I mean the amount of publishers/developers there is bigger) so skipping Gamescom to have their conference 2 months later makes no sense at all to me.

No Sony at Gamescom might be a positive thing for Microsoft.

Yes, this is what the french press release is saying. Sony thinks the two events are too close, so the european conference will be in Paris, October 27th.

I guess it is better for them to have their own events than to have to compete with other publishers. They already do that with E3 and smaller titles usually get lost in the shuffle.

Edit: are they still turning up? Just no conference nintendo e3 style?
Bit longer, early aug to end of oct. Weird move, the age of Sony is done etc.

The 6 weeks excuse doesn't make any sense to me, SCEE has little or none to do with E3 conference planning.
