The two films have very different takes on Quicksilver and are using him in very different contexts, so while I agree the MCU design holds up better on its own merits, I really think the comparison is overblown.

It's kinda the whole point of his character that he's an unpredictable rage monster.

I actually really enjoyed the cartoon Avengers movie where they finish killing the aliens, but Hulk keeps on smashing the city and the others have to end up stopping him.

And I wont lie, I've been dying to see a Hulk v. Hulkbuster fight on film since at least the first Iron Man!

Though they are mutants and related to Magneto, they are first and foremost considered Avengers, so Fox and Marvel were able to work out a joint custody of the characters.

That is a poor analogy. Activision kept rehashing the same series every year; Marvel keeps creating new series like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man, with many more undoubtedly on the way.
