It is. And it is more proof as to why the Ultimate Universe sucks.
You have no idea how toxic the Ultimate Universe has become.
But I'm guessing you didn't know there was another universe that was called the "Ultimate Universe" and it has it's own comic line.

Reading through Ultimate Spider-Man now, and I respectfully disagree.
At least for that series. I started Ultimate X-Men and it was the most boring/poorly written high-profile comic I've read in a while. But apparently it gets better?

Man, I am surprised they let a detail like Hulkbuster out so early, but I am glad that I will be able to see it in film.
If Hot Toys makes a 1/6 scale of that it would be near 2 feet tall if those proportions from the art are fairly final.

The character designs for SW and Quicksilver are fantastic, I think. I was worried about what they were going to do with SW, but that's just what I was hoping for.
The only Olsen that matters.

Nah, it was Ultimate, I was just exaggerating.
I mean, at first it was just Hulk. Then Wolverine kinda was showing some hints of it. Then Blob.
Then even Hank Pym was biting off heads. It was kinda ridiculous. I was half expecting Captain America to start gnawing on the occasional bad guy by the end.

Quicksilver looks like Kick Ass with speed powers. Also don't get why his hair isn't white if it was he would be perfect. At least some silver streaks.
Hence why I felt weird about Olsen's casting. It's gonna feed so many gross manips. :x

Gah, those Days of Future Past covers were such a bad idea. They all look like shit, not just Quicksilver's.
So Millar's take on the Avengers in the Ultimate universe was The Ultimates, basically an edgier version of the Avengers. (This, by the way, is the first place the Sam Jackson version of Nick Fury showed up.) Everyone was more "flawed", which I'm sure Millar thought made everything more realistic, but mostly he just made people look like bigger assholes. Stark was a bigger asshole, Cap was a bigger asshole, Pym was way more abusive, Hulk was more violent, etc. Part of this was that when Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were introduced, there were some... let's call it undertones or implications that their relationship might be weird or incestuous.
People were kind of split on Ultimates under Millar. I ended up really liking it, others didn't.
Then in Ultimates volume 3, Jeph Loeb came along. Jeph Loeb lacks anything resembling subtlety, and his execution is way worse, so he did dumb stuff like acting as though Cap was an old fashioned fuddy-duddy for not hopping on the okay-with-incest train. Say what you will about Millar's Ultimates, Loeb took the stupidity up another six notches.
Millar had a pretty great run when the Ultimates first started out, Loeb took the comic over and just shit all over everything. By the time Millar came back he had gotten a serious came of Loebitis and came up with mind numbingly stupid storylines such as a clone of Bruce Banner called "Nerd Hulk" being captured and turned by vampires while going out to get comics signed by Mark Millar. The super soldier serum inside Captain America also reversed his vampirism because his healing factor can do that. Steve Dillon's crappy art during the storyline also led to some very homoerotic imagery:

The Ultimate universe was great for logistics (primarily linking the Avengers with SHIELD) but absolute garbage for characterization.

Nothing to do with this thread or marvel, but I find this gif very eerie now. This morning a news helicopter crashed and blew up in Seattle by the space needle and right next to the mono rail....Seriously, spatially and contextually it's in the exact same spot.
