Maybe it's me, but it seems that these CE statues almost always end up being disappointing. Poor paint job, lack of detail and even lack likeness to the character. Not to mention they are pretty tacky except in the context of a room dedicated to them

I can't imagine buying all this shit. For a while I was getting into CE's, but realized how useless most of the extras were and how much space they took up. Threw em out and haven't looked back.

That's because is most case they're produced as cheaply as possible. If you're interested in buying figures of any sort it's always better to buy them separately from companies that make them for a living.

They are mass produced, and most of the buyers are probably just happy saying they got the collectors edition, rather than care too much about the quality of the content inside.

I used to go crazy for this stuff, and then I thought to myself, would anybody actually be impressed with any of this stuff?

I'm actually moving next week and ready to make some hard choices about some of my crap. I don't by them anymore, but have several CE boxes that take up too much space (Witcher III, Reach, etc). I may just toss the insides and keep the collapsed outer portion, if it has really good art. Otherwise, some stuff is getting chucked in the trash, that's for sure.

Edit: I also now I have two kids, which helps making this decision easier.

I'm legit curious if people actually come over and look at your stuff? Why is it set up like a museum? Very very strange. I would be totally weirded out and I'm very much into gaming and recognize all aspects of your collection. If it seems strange to me, I can only imagine what someone who does not actively follow gaming thinks.

Kudos to you though for being 100% true to yourself. Maybe I'm the one with the issue as I would factor in what other people think before going in full tilt like that.

Why waste money on CEs? Literally the only one I've bought on purpose was the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition because it came with all 3 games at a discount.

If you want to get statues then toss the garbage quality ones they give you and buy something like a First Four Statue.
