You guys should definitely check out The Dark Mod. It's based on the Doom3 engine that was released as freeware and let's you play through missions from both Thief 1 and 2. It's insanely fun and works really well.

Thought u expected that to charge your credit card immediately if you entered your data. But you are right, many don't have a credit card. Most people I know only got one for their exchange semester abroad.

I believe ddfix, which comes equipped with a whole lot of fixes to get the Thief games working smoothly on new systems, also features Widescreen and custom resolutions.
