Things people HATE about gaming that you don't mind at all

English dub or lack of dual audio.

I can play a game in English just fine. Never got why people say the Japanese dub is superior. It isn't in all cases, especially in Persona 4. Dual audio is great, but it's not that important to me.

Hey I've got one. People hated the six axis because it was light and didn't have rumble. Of course the 2 things I liked about it was how light it was and that it didn't have rumble.(Which made it even lighter.)

Yeah, I've never understood the complaints about Sixaxis/DS3 being too light. In my book that's a plus.

Uncharted 1 & 2's final boss fights.

I enjoyed Uncharted's final boss. And UC2's wasn't any better or worse than any other boss in the game.

Oh yeah, primitive or minimalist stories don't bother me at all. Unless your story is good (which it rarely is, let's be honest), I'd rather not have to sift through many cut scenes and constant dialogues. One thing that really annoys me in modern platformers is how they always try to shoe-horn in some dialogue and story. Whyyyyy

Yeah, final boss in #1 wasn't bad. Simple but fun for what it was.

Final boss in #2 was a bit frustrating, but since an unbeatable strategy exists, he's not so bad (unlike, say, RAAM). Now, the middle "boss" (guy at the end of the train) in #2 was definitely crap on harder difficulties.

  • 30fps
  • Linearity
  • Save anywhere
  • Games with short length
  • Sexualized female characters
  • Lewd fanservice in video games
  • English dub / no dual audio
  • "Anime" styled video games
  • Games with easier difficulties
  • Games that "takes itself seriously"
  • Tales of Graces f story and characters
  • FFXIII series and Lightning

Sexualized female characters in games is something I actually look forward to. Nothing better than seeing some nice, big titties bouncing around in a video game or very compromising shots of female characters in games. It's why I love Dead or Alive, Bayonetta, Lollipop Chainsaw, Nier, and the like. I also love lewd fanservice in games such as Persona 4 Golden and the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. I put all these hours into the game I think I deserve some type of reward no? I loved the new scenes in Golden and I love seeing Neptune, Plutia, and Noire wash each other down in Neptunia V. Just too hnnng on sooo many levels.

-"Gamey" games with HUDs, blatant game mechanics, etc
-games where characterization suffers for the sake of gameplay, GTA for example
-regenerating health
-RPG combat in FPS RPGs

That's what immediately comes to mind.

GFWL. I've never really had problems with it. But It's probably mostly because I can use it to pad my gamerscore.

Nintendo's IP recycling (because the actual gameplay always feels refreshing except for Kart, and I don't need a new character to tell me that the gameplay is refreshing)

Controllers for shooters

The so called "heavy" or "huge" WiiU gamepad (granted, the people who say this probably haven't used one for any significant period of time)

Turned based strategy games (wish there were far more of them)

Miiverse, Nintendo eShop

30 fps (doesn't bother me tremendously, but I do prefer 45 fps to 60 fps, even if it means reducing graphical features or resolution)

I have to politely disagree agree with people on QTE's and side with what I presume is the majority, I can't stand them, I can't think of one instance where they were actually good for the game I was playing.

Things people HATE about gaming that you don't mind at all

Most QTE's.
Niche games.
Achievments/Trophies.
Single Player Only Games.
Average Voice Acting.
Female characters and protagonists.
Turned based JRPG's.
Screen tearing.
Easy games.
Anime and hardcore Japanese games.
Fighting games.
Lack of anti-aliasing.
Jaggies.
Lackluster stories in good video games. Want a good story? Rent a movie!!!!!
Sexualized characters. Some people get way too sensitive and even near violent over this type of stuff.
Linearity. Open world is ok and all, but perturbingly overrated.
Short games.

Is 20 hours with the thing enough for me to say that it is bulky with a pointless gimmick that makes it unnecessarily bulky not to mention has sucky battery life and makes the whole console more expensive for little or no pay off?

- Backtracking. I explore games so thoroughly anyway that I don't mind being required to revisit areas. This also means I'm more tolerant of things that other people would consider bad game design, like Halo: CE's reused levels and repetitive interiors. I seriously could not care less about that. I actually enjoy it, for the most part.

- Shallow combat in adventure games. I'm thinking specifically of the Elder Scrolls series here. I've played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim for somewhere around 500 hours collectively, and I've never been bothered by the combat. Not once. It's perfectly satisfying as it is, especially when you throw magic into the mix. Oblivion's custom spells and Skyrim's dual casting make it even better.

- Exploits that make your character overpowered. I thrive on that stuff. All of my Elder Scrolls characters are broken, and I love them that way. It saves me a lot of annoyance when I can mess around and explore without being inconvenienced by restrictions. I'm not looking for a challenge all the time. I love running as fast as a horse in Morrowind and leaping over whole rivers in one jump. I love casting ridiculously potent spells in Oblivion. I love having unlimited mana and stamina in Skyrim. I certainly don't miss walking at a snail's pace when I'm holding too much stuff, because I'm an unapologetic hoarder. I enjoy collecting unique weapons and armor sets, so I'm sure you can understand that having to make 20 separate trips to move my collection to a new hideout does me no favors.

GtaIV driving physics. I love it.
There are people who don't like this? The driving physics are easily one of the best aspects of the game. In fact, I'd say they're the second best thing after the pedestrian physics.

Games that put the "experience" and "immersion" over gameplay.

It'd suck if that was all we had, but luckily there is variety. Some of my best times this gen have been from games that are very sparse or unimaginative in their mechanics.

Good idea for a thread OP :)

For me..
- Good sized DLC
- 30 fps
- QTE's it's a game mechanic I find better than wtching a cutscene sometimes, I don't any developers that have an issue with this. I guess some gamers have become self entitled.

Lengthy cinematics. I honestly don't mind five minute fights scenes, or long dialogue scenes, even if there is noe interaction, as long as the cut scene itself is entertaining.

The ending was the best part of MGS4 in my opinion :)

The Wii. It's derided amongst 'hardcores' for being a Casual Baby Console™, but I call it The Fun Console™. It's the only one I've used besides my PC in the past year or so. Granted, I'm not the biggest fan of motion controls, but there's plenty of great games and awesome oldies available on the virtual console.

Define hardcore.

Player choice being only an illusion (i.e. The Walking Dead).

Sure I'd prefer real choice, but I'm not going to deconstruct a game to see if my choices really did have meaningfull impact. As long as the game makes me feel like my choices mattered, I'm fine with that.

Turn-based combat is the main one. I love it, selecting my options while considering the battlefield as a whole. Doubly so if there is a queue of who is to attack next at the top, that I can affect with buffs/debuffs. I'll spend ages figuring out optimum strategies for it before even pressing a button. Valkyria Chronicles, X-Com, Fire Emblem, I love all of them.

Generic fantasy. Orcs and elves and dwarves and wizards and knights is fine by me.
