Things you dislike about your favorite games

I had a good hard think about this, but a lot of my favourite games have been played such a long time ago that all their flaws are now pretty much forgotten.

So here are some recent games I would consider favourites and their flaws:
Call of Duty 4: No multiplayer server browser and some significant difficulty spikes in the singleplayer
Phoenix Wright series: Psyche-locks and the fact that you can game over in it
Portal: ... ... Elevator load times. Yeah that's all I have.

Random encounters in RPGs are like a double edged sword for me. I like them, but they can get annoying. Though my tolerance for them is pretty high (Had no problem with the encounter rate in SMT: Nocturne and Skies of Arcadia)

Shadow of the Colossus: Not all of the collosi felt like they posed a huge threat(the last ones where challenging, though)
Metroid Prime: Fetch quest at the end, atlhough not as bad as Prime 2's.
Fallout 3: The animations and character expressions...oh god...
Twilight Princess: All those cool, but useless items. Fewer items with more purpose next time, please.

I'll probably have more on other games later.

License board in FFXII
The gear grind in WoW (Even if it is better than most MMOs) /All of vanilla wow and most of the leveling in BC as well
The camera (at times) in SotC, as well as the framerate.
Chap. 7 in Mother 3
Acts 4 and 5 in MGS4
Sacred Icon in Halo 2
The last two levels in Halo 3

The fact that although I haven't played the game, I feel the need to tell reviewers that their opinion is wrong if they don't give Killzone 2 a 10/10.

The lack of ammo for the magnum in HL2. It is the best gun and I hardly ever got to use it because i couldn't find any damn bullets for the thing.

Super Mario Galaxy - swimming stages

I love those. The music is so soothing.

I mean it took a while to get the controls underwater but it was worth it. Beach Bowl is my favorite galaxy. <3

Pokémon games : unnecessarily time consuming by design. So many stuff I want to try out but can't just because it would take too long to actually get what I need in-game even though I know what it is.

Soul Calibur 4 : Raphael 4A+B, the follow-up after a successful auto-GI is forced but can be re-GI'd. What the fuck ?

Street Fighter III Third Strike : lack of remixes of music from previous installments.

They took out the cool effect in Butter Building and removed the hidden HAL Logo in Kirby: Knightmare in Dreamland, that were in Kirby's Adventure. Also, all the backgrounds are static, while Kirby's Adventure had some animated backgrounds.

Afro Samurai - The camera

Metal Gear Solid - Endless cut-scenes, and prior to MGS4, the camera

Gran Turismo - No damage, bumper cars

Zelda:Twilight Princess - Wii Controls

Indigo Prophecy - The busted controls

Madden 09 - Lack of Wildcat plays for Miami :)

Mass Effect - Elevators and lack of DLC

That you have to use a strategy guide to really get the most out of FFXII (not my favorite game, but up there).

Symphony of the Night: The rushed English voice acting and the nosedive in difficulty after you find decent equipment in the Inverted Castle. Those are the only two things that keep this game from being 100% perfect.

Brawl is plagued by terrible online
Twilight Princess enemies need to inflict at least 4x as much damage (1/2 a heart? come on)
Mirror's Edge has a lot of leaps of faith (STFU pun makers ;) )
SF IV is not in my hands right now. Ditto for Killzone 2
Mario Galaxy was still too easy for the most part. Plus, it ended :(

Super Mario Galaxy ends.

Perfect.

Seriously though, if I could change one thing about the game, I would change the 60 star requirement to at least 80 stars. The second set of 60 stars are better than the first!

Phantasy Star 2 - Everyone in my party is freaking blind. Even spells miss what the heck? Also enemies can surprise attack you but you can't surprise attack them.
Phantasy Star Online - Completely insane drop-rates. I've put thousands of hours into the series and there are still a lot of things I haven't found.
Diablo 2 - 90% of experience you gain is in maybe 2% of the entire game.
ESP Ra De - I still suck at it
Earth Defense Force 2 - The grinding
Bare Knuckle 3 - Pathetic bosses
Cadillac's & Dinosaurs - 4th boss kills me everytime

Majora's Mask - Termina Field kinda sucked, it felt too small
Okami - The scenes where you couldn't speed up the dialogue; combat in general was hit or miss
Civilization IV - visuals don't look good to me at all, especially when compared to CivIII

Galaxy - your flying power-up is only used on the hub world and the starter planet. Inter-planetary flying would have been TOO GOOD!

I loved Act 4 and watching Act 5

I like most of Kojima's humor that's put in all of the MGS games, but some shit in MGS4 was just cringeworthy and lame.

Yeah I hated the humor in MGS4. It just felt so out of place. The bathroom stuff was just pushing it way too much. At least in my opinion.

I hate that Mass Effect, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 have too few weapon/armor selection.

This is what I came here to say. I'll throw out the obligatory cut-and-paste side missions, and I'm out.

The overworld in Super Mario Galaxy is a real pain in the ass. Aswell as being overbearingly cute, its a mess to navigate / find your favourite levels.

-Super Mario Galaxy: The bosses are by far the weakest part of this masterpiece (Kamella, Baby Bowser and Bowser are the worst offender... especially the weak Final Battle after one of THE most amazing final levels in gaming history)

-Metroid Prime and Prince of Persia Sands of Time: the sequels

-OOT: it was too fucking good

-Half Life 2: the part where you have 3 turrets and have to wipe an entire army of Combines. Episode 2 ,on the other hand ,turned a similar scenario into one of the best moments of HL.

-Diablo 2: it turned me into a game addict for the first and only time ever

The shitty people I have to play with in the RE5 demo. I have to do 90% of the work just to keep them alive.

random skill inheritance in smt:nocturne. the satisfaction you get from having a fusion turn out "just right" isn't worth the hassle of selecting and re-selecting the component demons in order to get it.

there has to be a better way to handle this aspect of the gameplay: not fun the way it is.

(it doesn't help that i've now played numerous games with this *exact* same "mechanic")

This x 1,000,000

Canceling out of the fusion menu over and over isn't fun. It was never fun. And it won't be fun when they reuse the mechanic in SMT4. They could, at the very least, add a quick 'shuffle' button.

I could also do with a slightly toned-down debuff/buff system, perhaps capping out at two casts instead of four.

These guys look like they were pulled out of Banjo Kazooie. Can't stand em.

The Chozo Ghosts and Dark Pirate Troopers in Metroid Prime 1 and 2 respectively. They can take quite a bit of damage (Chozo Ghosts take two super missiles, and Dark Troopers take even more damage), plus they can turn invisible and zip around the room. You eventually get a visor that lets you see them when they're invisible in both games, but not until near the end in Prime and halfway through in Echoes.

The most annoying thing about them, though, is that they lock the doors until you beat them. So you can't just ignore them and run past them like other tough enemies in the game. This, combined with the fact that they respawn makes them some of the most annoying enemies in any game.

I love that about SotC. Really made me think about what I was doing.
Games as art, etc.

Halo 3. My favorite game ever. It has one flaw, the lack of AA and low AF. Everything in the game excels imo, even the graphics are damn good, but the jaggies and muddy textures break and otherwise perfect immersion.
