Think I might of picked up a bad habit

Who the fuck starts smoking cigarettes randomly? Seriously the stupidest addiction you can give yourself.

I'll never understand this.

Stop NOW.

Cigarettes are more addictive than heroin according to many addiction people. Do not start an expensive smelly health-destroying habit.

You have 3 choices basically:

1. Quit now, while it's still easy.
2: Quit later, when it's 1000x harder.
3. Quit by default when you die of lung cancer.

Not really a hard choice imo.

How often are you smoking? If you were only smoking occasionally I wouldn't worry about it too much, if you're already smoking more than once a day, than yeah, stop before you get addicted. Also, probably not the best way to deal with depression. Although since exercising apparently isn't helping and presumably you don't have anyone to talk to if you went straight to cigarettes, I don't really know what I'd suggest instead.

Find something that doesnt shorten your life and degrade your breathing capacity to cope with stress, replace that with the death sticks.

Exercise, in any form, is a tried and true method of reducing stress.

I don't know if you are artistically inclined, but when I am seriously annoyed and stressing being able to turn a blank sheet/blank digital canvas into whatever the fuck I want helps me get a degree of control so I can eitheir adress the stress or just mitigate it for now.

Meditation is good too! Try finding a nice spot away from your house and spend 15 minutes there, you don't have to sit and close your eyes and make "ohm" noises, just sitting and clearing your mind can really help.

Six to 8 a week shouldn't harm you too much. The trick is sticking to that. It's easier just to quit while you still can relatively effortlessly.

Same. I guess most people just don't care about their future. There are many cheaper and healthier methods to relieve stress too. Most people want to quit eventually anyway, so why even take the risk?

Azzurri, stop smoking or else I'll come over and let's just say you wouldn't like to see me angry:

My two favorite things about the thread are how many are horrified by the grammar and the fact that everyone assumes that bud is consistently easy for everyone to find.

I've been a fairly light (two packs a month) smoker for about a year now, and just yesterday I started to truly feel like shit. Mainly I was having trouble taking full breaths. It's only been a little over 24 hours since my last cig but I already feel better than I did last night.

Shit isn't worth it. I don't see myself buying another pack of cigs anytime soon. Quit now, seriously.

I've never really understood the appeal of tobacco. I smoked some hookah once and the effects were pretty boring. "Woo, I'm slightly relaxed now." Get addicted to something more interesting, man!

I'm in the same boat dude. Smoke maybe a pack every two months or so. I'll light a cig after an all nighter of homework, after an exam, a couple when I'm wasted at a party, and the random occasion when I'm randomly stressed.

I really haven't felt any worse for it, but I smoked a lot of another herb that was green for a while before I ever started cigarettes. I do kind of want to stop, everybody knows about the eventual health issues, but something about the act of smoking feels badass to me. I enjoy my time when I'm sitting outside and puffing on a cig.

We're all going to die of cancer anyway. So fuck it!

The thing about smoking is how well it compliments other substances. Drinking booze and smoking is like peanut butter and chocolate or MLP and aspergers, it's a match made in heaven.

It's also a great social stimulant, I've met a lot of cool people on smoke breaks or outside the bar (now that smoking is almost illegal).

Stop it right now. I wish I never started. I'm alway falling back into old habits as soon as I'm stressed out or down. I know it does nothing good for me but always relapse.

It's one of the worst drugs to quit imo, better stop it before you're in too deep. Thrust me on this!!!

Smoking cigs :(. I'm in good shape too, I lift and run usually daily, eat healthy, and all that good stuff. I guess recently I've been pretty depressed and stressed, and it seems to sooth me. I guess a couple a week wouldn't kill me.

Don't say that if you don't want to smoke regularly. Simple.

On another note, has anyone ever been addicted to lip balm?
I was earlier this year after an overseas trip to japan. Used lip balm almost every day there since i didn't really drink enough water and the cold really screwed up my lips. After i got back to Aus, i couldn't stop using it until i realised that i was going through an entire stick in a few days. The sensation of moist lips really got to me :|

If you're addicted and can get past a couple of days without smoking, I think you can not smoke for awhile. At least that's how it was for me. I've gone about half a year without smoking. Too bad bad shit started happening and I started up again just to ease my mind off some stupid situation.

And I also tend to smoke when I'm drunk. :\

Eh, whatever. Just stick to lights and you'll be fine.
Light Cigarettes aren't actually more healthy for you. It turns out, that they just caused errors in the measurements in the smoking machines the FTC used, and had minimal differences in Tar and Nicotine levels when smoked normally, which is the reason for the US government recently banned Cigarette companies can't use the Light and Ultra Light branding.

quit while u can. i quit smoking 2 months ago, after smoking for 10 years. first month was hell, and i still get cravings.

lmao I know you didn't really claim to be addicted, but this reminds me of my friend. He started smoking and like a week later he was pretending he was some life-long smoker. I think some people actually think this is cool somehow.

Don't be a dumb fuck. Just stop buying them now. I smoked for like 8 years or so and quit cold turkey (3 times). You don't want to go down this road.

I'm more surprised at the fact that he only nonchalantly acknowledged his new sword, and not everything else that's wrong with what's happening in the picture.

Doesn't help you, will give you cancer though, black tar in your veins possibly a stroke or heart attack, not to mention disgusting breath and black teeth, and when it does happen to you, you BETTER SMILE and THANK your cigarettes

You don't crave nicotine, you crave attention. Stop smoking cigs and start wearing a giant yellow foam cowboy hat.

You're smoking the wrong plant.

Give this man a prize. And if so, don't over use it.

edit: I have smoked cigarettes only after we broke with ex and when I was really drunk.
Not anymore. Sometimes the other plant and less and less every month.

I like to laugh at dumb people on GAF. That said, everyone can laugh at me for smoking as long as I have. I've recently switched to e-cigarettes, and it seems to be going well.

Stop before it's too late.

I could see this working.

How does one go from "I feel a bit stressed" to "YES! Expensive, addictive, health damaging cigarets are the answer!". Instead of say: playing a game, going out for a walk / bicycle ride, reading a book, talking to a friend about it, etc. anyway?
