First part: Listening part yeah, but web browsing is best in the mobile internet business.

i love the web browser on that thing, only way to get through work since pretty much every website is blocked but it sucks when you're not in a place with wifi and so used to being able to whip out the ipod and chekc out anything you want.

I found with my 16 Gig touch that anything wifi sucks the battery like no tomorrow (which I guess should be expected). I find myself using mine for music only which lasts a hella long time.

Still I wouldn't trade mine for anything as I love its user interface compared to every other brand.

It just got a memory increase a few months ago. I wouldn't expect another until at least the end of the year, possibly January '09.

I'd say they'll update the iPods like they do every year. September/October we'll probably see storage increases across the lines, no major design changes.

I'm very impressed with the touch. The very cleverly implemented interface nearly feels tactile. Best use of touchscreen technology I've encountered.

I got a 16gb Touch and it is really great. Even though i only have 1gb of music and barely use it. Total waste of money for me.....

The problem for me is operating the device without looking at it, or when its in your pocket. I use a iPod shuffle myself for this reason, because when i'm jogging or even going about my business buttons simply get the job done better.

I looked at my iPod touch in the sun today and noticed what looks like either a slightly different color of plastic dye or perhaps, i duno, a camera or something. I have no idea what it is, and it doesn't show up in any pictures that apple has released of the ipod touch. I wish i had a scanner so I could get a better picture of it but .. I was wondering if anyone knew what this is. If you have an iPod Touch check it out.

I believe it is the sensor that allows the Touch to use its auto brightness feature.

September is the current rumor for a price drop/refresh.

I absolutely love my Touch. I prefer to have my phone on a separate battery and hate contracts so it was a perfect solution. Yes the wifi sucks battery like crazy, but that is pretty much the only knock I have on the device*. The interface really is amazing.

*Safari does have some annoying bugs/tendencies that I am hoping are rectified in 2.0.

Yes, they are exactly the same. Only difference is removed cell chip/antenna in the Touch and proximity sensor.

Because NTT-DoCoMo probably thought there was no consumer interest in Japan and told Apple to go F themselves?

If it's any consolation, there's rumors that none of the new carriers have exclusivity contracts, only the companies who carried the first-gen do. So NTT-DoCoMo might still carry it if there's customer demand.

There are rumblings new versions will pop up in sept. But I don't know what they could add that wouldn't put it dangerously close to the Iphone. If i were you I would at least wait a week or two so you can get one with 2.0 already installed.
